President’s Letter
ANDY RABITOY
Welcome to the 2022 MPACE Conference in sunny Tucson, Arizona! Tucson is a first-time location for MPACE and we are delighted that you are participating this year to redefine, rediscover and restore ourselves and our profession. It’s no question the last several years have been some of the most unusual times, which makes me even more grateful that we can meet in person in Arizona. This year’s theme, Reach for the Stars, takes the past year’s learning lessons and challenges to show us how we can move forward, reaching new heights in our profession. MPACE is always here to support you, and together, there’s no limit to what’s possible.
Our awesome Conference Planning Committee is thrilled to bring you three days of activities and sessions, providing you with time to connect and reflect with colleagues. Among the many events planned, we are excited to bring you two amazing keynote speakers. Kicking off the conference, we have Avish Parashar, author of “Improvise to Success” and best selling, “Say ‘Yes, And!” who will deliver smiles while demonstrating how improv can teach valuable business skills such as creativity, innovation, and adaptability. And you won’t want to miss Dr. Brandi Baldwin, award-winning StartUp CEO and founder of Millennial Ventures Holdings, who will focus on building your own strong foundation--a key to building your own success and something I know I personally am looking forward to. Additionally, we are excited to introduce Knowledge Groups, an opportunity for you to engage and share best practices with colleagues with your same roles and responsibilities. A big shout out to Conference Co-Chairs, Erica Privott and Stella Yuen for coordinating the conference. Erica and Stella along with their team of dedicated Conference Committee Co-Chairs have crafted a fantastic experience for us in Tucson.
During your down time, I hope you get to not only enjoy connecting with fellow MPACE colleagues, but also have an opportunity to soak up the peacefulness and serenity of Tucson’s scenery surrounding the El Conquistador Resort.
On the evening of December 8th, please join your fellow members in a southwestern themed evening under the desert lights with music, food and fun!
I attended my first MPACE Conference in 2003, and it still remains my most important professional association. The sense of belonging and collegiality is unmatched. This is our community; for us, by us. In my experience, the network and connections created are some of the most important relationships in my personal and professional life. My hope is that this conference has that same impact for you. Whether this is your first conference or your twentieth, please explore many of the volunteer opportunities and connect with MPACE members who have done the same. As a volunteer association, you are the future of MPACE. You belong here. Together, we will redefine, rediscover and restore!

Howdy MPACE Colleagues!
Welcome to the beautiful southwest! Tucson and the El Conquistador Resort is the perfect backdrop for the 2022 MPACE Conference; where we have come together to REdefine, REdiscover and REstore by REaching for the stars.
With the great resignation, great reshuffle and the effects of the last few years on organizational processes and culture, it is important - now more than ever - to empower each other to advocate for self, champion equitable initiatives, and REimagine innovation and impact. Thank you for joining us this week to connect, collaborate, celebrate and create new goals and opportunities to REinvent how we work.
An amazing group of talented volunteers aka the Conference Planning Committee aka “The Constellation”, worked hard to bring you an unbelievable experience this week. It was truly a privilege to work alongside this dynamic group of superstars, and we cannot say thank you enough for their tireless efforts - brava! Huge appreciations to our fabulous sponsors, marvelous exhibitors, the esteemed MPACE Board and our wonderful management group, Smith Moore & Associates. Without your support, none of this would have been possible.
What brings us back every year to MPACE is the community. Whether at the spa, exploring the wildlife on the grounds, touring the indigenous collection of art in the gallery or networking poolside, we hope you enjoy your time at this world-class resort, and this magnificent conference. It is our honor and joy to go on this journey with you!
Look out Tucson, here we come!
Railroads, miners, outlaws and cowboys have made Arizona an icon of the American West. The exploits of Wyatt Earp, gunfighters and lawmen continue to enthrall people far and wide.

2022 MPACE KEYNOTES
AVISH PARASHAR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Avish grew up in “exotic” Poughkeepsie, NY and now makes his home in Philadelphia, PA. Though he performed all through high school, he decided to stop performing when he went to college to “focus on his studies” (his parents were very proud of this decision).
That resolve lasted only a few months, as the first time he saw an improv comedy show he fell in love (his parents were slightly less proud). One week later he auditioned for the campus improv group, got in, and the rest is history. After graduating, he started Polywumpus Improv Comedy, which performed regularly in and around Philadelphia for seven years. Avish closed up Polywumpus to focus on the speaking and training side of the business – using improv comedy as a tool to teach valuable business skills such as creativity, innovation, and adaptability.
Weaving together humorous stories, jokes, audience interaction, and improv comedy games, Avish keeps the audience engaged while imparting a key lesson: Planning is Important, but Improvising is Essential! No matter how well you plan, things will go wrong, surprises will arise, and the Universe will throw you a curveball. Your success and sanity are directly related to how you respond these challenges. By the end of one of Avish’s presentations you will have key tools to flow with all that life throws at you. Avish has spoken to the very creative (actors and directors), the very un-creative (accountants), the very casual (college students), and the very business-like (sales professionals). The end result is always the same – smiles, laughs, and a new way of looking at life and business.
Avish is the author of “Improvise to Success!” and the Amazon best-selling, “Say ‘Yes, And!’” (And yes, his parents are once again very proud.)
DR. BRANDI M. BALDWIN FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9 | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Dr. Brandi M. Baldwin is an award-winning StartUp CEO and founder of Millennial Ventures Holdings, the parent company to a suite of social impact brands tackling the world’s most relevant business challenges like: diversity, equity and inclusion, developing corporate millennial leaders, and helping women accelerate their success through entrepreneurship.
As a former Wharton Lecturer, Dr. Brandi speaks over 40 times a year and is tapped by companies like Comcast, Discover, Fast Company, Google, and agencies like the Federal Government to offer advising regarding their organizational development strategies. Her noteworthy accomplishments include being appointed to Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney’s Millennial Advisory Commission, being named one of Philadelphia’s Most Influential African Americans, receiving Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award, the Diversity and Inclusion Outstanding Ally honor from the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the “Take the Lead” award from the Girl Scouts.
Dr. Brandi also hosts the “Diversity and Confusion” podcast and “Leader-ish” podcast. Dr. Brandi is the author of “Put in Work: Gain Respect, Influence Others, and Get Results as a New Leader”, and “Authentic Ally: Ditch the Guilt, Stop Performing, and Take Purposeful Action as an Ally for Racial Equity”.
She is a mother of two and attributes her Christian faith for keeping her focused, grounded, and committed to excellence in all that she does. Although her worldly accomplishments are noteworthy, Dr. Brandi believes that she was put on this earth to impact, not to impress

Fun Fact: One of the things that has put Tucson on the map as a top destination for outdoor recreation is the fact that it is bordered by both a National Park and a National Forest. Saguaro National Park & Coronado National Forest!
Fun Fact: Tucson is one of the best spots in the U.S. for astronomy. In 1972, Pima County enacted a “dark sky” code to regulate the brightness and number of outdoor bulbs in an effort to help local observatories. Now Tucson suffers from far less light pollution than most cities do.
