action unlimited offering an educational program – “NAMI Basics”, specially designed for parents and other caregivers of adolescents and children living with emotional or behavioral challenges recognized before the age of 14. The course is taught by trained family volunteer teachers who themselves are parents/caregivers of children living with emotional difficulties. This structure creates an intimacy that few programs possess and consequently, a program now whose capacities are unparalleled. It is an evidenced based program and recognized across the country. The BASICS program runs for six consecutive weeks each class lasting 2 ½ hours. There is no cost to participants and the materials are provided by NAMI. The programs goal is to provide the fundamentals of caring for, you, your family and your child with the emotional difficulties. Up to date current information on common disorders in children, research related to the biology of these disorders and the most effective treatment strategies available – including various therapies and role of medication sometimes utilized as part of

treatment will be covered. In addition, workshops in problem solving, listening and communication skills are highlighted. You will learn about methods of working with both school and the mental health care systems, how to create a record keeping system and emphasis on personal advocacy for your child in locating resources, supports and services. All this with an emphasis on self-care too. Join us and obtain the tools needed that will greatly assist you in making the best decisions possible for the care of your child! Tower Hill To Host American Craft Fair The public is welcome to attend the American Craft Fair on Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21, at Tower Hill Botanic Garden. This fair is curated by the Worcester Center for Crafts and will feature more than 30 fine artisans representing ceramics, jewelry, wood, metalworking, glass, mixed metals, painting, fiber artists and more. The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Admission includes access to the fair, facilities, grounds, and gardens. In addition, Tower Hill will be featuring its October Oddities exhibit and guests can enjoy lunch in the cafe, fall foliage views of Mt. Wachusett, and browsing the Garden Shop.
