Women Of The Wall On Monday evening, December 4 at 7 pm, Leslie Sachs, the Executive Director of Women of the Wall, will share her passionate struggle to expand religious rights in Israel in a presentation at Congregation Shalom in Chelmsford. All interested are welcome to attend. Since 1988, Women of the Wall has fought for women’s right to pray collectively and aloud with Torah Scrolls, Tallitot and Tefillin at the Western Wall, Judaism’s most holy site. Through education, social advocacy and empowerment, Women of the Wall strives to change the status quo and works

to expand civil rights, human rights and religious freedom in Israel. Women of the Wall stands proudly and strongly in the forefront of the movement for religious pluralism in Israel, with the hope to inspire and empower women from all over the world and across the spectrum of Jewish movements to find their spiritual voices and create meaningful Jewish identities. Women of the Wall has also been involved in efforts to establish a pluralistic, equalitarian and equal prayer space at the Western Wall. Please see their web-site: http://www.womenofthewall.org.il and Facebook page: https://www.facebook. com/womenofthewall/

Lesley Sachs has been advocating for religious freedom for many years: as the Executive Director of IRAC (Israel Religious Action Center), Vice President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, and for the past 7 years as Executive Director of Women of the Wall where she has led the organization to unprecedented growth and worldwide success. In 2014 she was awarded the National Council for Jewish Women’s Outstanding Israeli Feminist Award in recognition of her many accomplishments. saturday, december 2, 2017

Curtain times for “The Skin of Our Teeth,” are: 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 7 and 8; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www. middlesex.mass.edu/performingarts or by calling the box office at 978-458-5429. How does the human spirit sur-

vive and persevere in the face of destruction? Wilder addresses the question in this classic American tragicomedy. Meet George and Maggie Antrobus and their children, Henry and Gladys, of Excelsior, N.J. George and Maggie have been married for 5,000 years. Whether he is inventing the alphabet or merely saving the world from apocalypse, George and his redoubtable family somehow manage to survive – by the skin of their teeth. Completed by Wilder less than a month after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, “The Skin of Our Teeth” broke from established theatrical conventions and won the 1943 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

A barren lot remained after the Fire Department moved into their new headquarters. Town officials formed a committee seeking ideas on how to transform this prominent North Road empty space. As ideas began to be submitted so did a proposal from The Chelmsford Garden Cub. The garden club formed a committee, spearheaded by Brenda Lovering as Chair, assisted by Monica Kent and Connie Smith as co-chairs. A landscape plan was designed and approved by town officials. Businesses, club members, and residents pledged their support. Local contractors,

It is with excitement and pride that the club announces receipt of the following awards for this project: The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts awarded the club the President’s Silver Bowl for the best developed civic project of the year. Also from the state Federation we received the Virginia F. Thurston Landscape Design Award for outstanding pursuit in the area of landscape design for using a suitable plan in a public space. The most exciting recognition was from the National Garden Clubs for the best community landscape design in the entire USA. This mega acknowledgment, The William C. What You Should Know About Vaccines (NAPSI)—Sometimes, what you don’t know can hurt you. Consider this: Smallpox vaccines were used as far back as the Revolutionary War. This serious disease, which has killed more people than all the wars combined, has been wiped from the Earth by vaccines. It’s a shame that recently the safety of vaccines has been questioned. It’s time people focused on the facts. Vaccines have long been one of the safest medical treatments. No credible study has proven otherwise. Just like other medicines, vaccines are approved by the FDA. By and large, the rewards of prevention are worth the small risk of any vaccine’s side effects. Another fact is that vaccines for mature Americans can save lives. When seniors get pneumonia shots, they could lengthen their life expectancy by FOUR years. Flu shots will also protect seniors from a debilitating illness with life-threatening consequences. Vaccinations are generally affordable and they are SAFE.

What To Do If you have questions about a vaccine, talk to your doctors. They can explain the safety of vaccines and their importance to your health. There are three easy steps you can take to get protected: 1. Find out which vaccines you need. You can go to the RetireSafe website, www.retiresafe.org, and click on the vaccine icon on the left side of the home page. It will take you to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site that will ask you questions about you and your life. It will then give you a list of vaccines you may need. 2. Discuss the vaccines on the list with your doctor or health care professional. 3. Get the recommended vaccinations. That’s it...that’s all you have to do to be healthier and possibly add years to your life.

URGENT—Your Vehicle May Have A Dangerous Air Bag! (NAPSI)—A few simple steps protect your family and loved ones. You may be driving a vehicle with a defective driver’s side air bag, passenger’s side air bag or both. If you have one of the following vehicles, please call your local Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge or Ram dealership to schedule a FREE repair: The Problem Here’s why: According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 34 million vehicles have defective air bags, which can cause serious injury or death in the event of a crash. Even a minor fender bender can cause these air bags to explode, spraying metal fragments into drivers and passengers. A Solution Fortunately, there is a solution, repairs are FREE and Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram dealerships have plenty of new air bags available to replace them. You don’t even have to take the vehicle back to the same dealer-

ship from which you bought it; any authorized dealer can make the free repairs. Learn More For further facts, or if you are not sure whether your vehicle is part of this, you can: 1. Go to recalls.mopar.com and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), found on the driver’s side dashboard near the windshield or the inside driver’s side door. 2. Get in touch with your Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Ram dealership. 3. Call the dedicated toll-free number: (866) 220-6765. Se habla espanol.

A favorite for snacks, s’mores and piecrust, the graham cracker was developed in 1829 by the Rev. Sylvester Graham. The true graham cracker is made with graham flour, which is a coarsely ground wheat flour.

Sudoku

Fun By The Numbers Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!

Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Helping Your Pet Survive An Emergency (NAPSI)—If you’re like many pet parents, it’s probably crossed your mind lately about what would happen to your animal if a natural disaster strikes. The experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offer this advice: Make a plan and prepare a disaster kit for your pet. This can help make things safer for you, your pet and any first responders. Make a Plan 1. Find out what shelters and assistance are available to accommodate pets. 2. Microchip your pets and register the microchip with the manufacturer. 3. Get a pet carrier for each of your pets and put his or her name, your name and contact information on it. 4. If you’ll be sheltering at home with your pet, find an interior room with few or no windows and make sure it’s pet friendly. Make A Kit The experts on animal care at Henry Schein Animal Health have these hints to help you create an emergency first aid kit for your pet. • A book on animal first-aid • Your pet’s medical records • Contact information for your veterinarian and a friend or family

Top Five Things To Do At Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (NAPSI)—Each year, millions of people head to Cape Canaveral, Florida to visit an iconic American landmark where history has been made and innovation continues today. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex brings to life the epic story of the U.S. space program, offering a full day or more of fun. It allows visitors to get as close as possible to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, with exclusive tours and an in-depth look at the space program’s past, present and future. With so much to do, see and explore, visitors should plan ahead. Following are insider tips on five must-see and -do experiences while visiting: 1. Heroes & Legends featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®: The newest addition to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Heroes & Legends is designed to be a guest’s first stop. The experience uses the early years of the space program to explore the concept of heroism and the qualities of the individuals who inspired their generation. Cutting-edge technol-

ogy, mesmerizing special effects, priceless artifacts and thought-provoking exhibits amaze and inspire. 2. Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour: The KSC Bus Tour takes visitors behind the gates, providing exclusive access to the restricted areas of America’s spaceport. The tour concludes at the Apollo/ Saturn V Center. Uber space enthusiasts can purchase a Special Interest Tour, which includes additional stops. 3. Space Shuttle Atlantis®: Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the permanent home of space shuttle Atlantis. A dramatic presentation teaches guests about the shuttle’s 33 historic missions, including those that secured the future of the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station. The Shuttle Launch Experience® ride and training simulators teach shuttle docking and landing. 4. NASA Now: This exhibit provides unprecedented access to the present and future of space travel. Offering an up-close look at the most recent vehicles to have traveled to space, vehicles destined for future visits and those designed to further exploration and development, NASA Now continues to grow. A recent addition is the Boeing full-scale engineering model of its CST-100 Starliner crew vehicle. 5. Lunch With An Astronaut: Lunch With An Astronaut is a not-to-be-missed add-on. During a catered lunch, a veteran NASA astronaut will share personal stories about what it’s really like to launch, live and work in space. Visitors can ask questions about anything, from how to sleep in space to what experiments were performed. Guests can also take a photo with the astronaut.
