Also on Sunday, December 3 from 5-7pm, the church will host a family and potluck dinner and gift making night. Families with kids of all ages are invited to join us for good old-fashioned fun with a potluck dinner and craft night. Go home with a few gifts that will be cherished because they were made with love by your child. This event is led by Roberta Altamari, Director of Lifelong Learning, and meets in the church’s Union Hall. Cost is a $5 donation towards craft supplies, and please bring a dish to share. Alla Breve will play Christmas, winter solstice, and holiday music throughout the ornament-making service. “Caring For Caregivers” Meetings On Monday morning and evening, December 4th from 11am to Noon and 7pm to 8pm, the First United Methodist Church at 34 Felton Street, Hudson, will hold its monthly “Caring for Caregivers” meetings in Lamson Hall on the first floor of the church. We are handicap accessible via a motorized seat. The church has recognized a
yearning in the community for a place to gather, intended for those in the position of being a caregiver and who need to be with others going through difficult times caring for their loved ones. Our purpose is to establish a safe, quiet setting for those who are feeling the weight that often accompanies caregiving. Caregivers often feel alone/isolated and unique. We can’t solve problems or change a situation but we will offer support by encouraging each other to not feel weak or selfish or unloving because of our thoughts. Come talk about your concerns and feelings with those

of every individual, we held formation, positioned ourselves to create a strong momentum, and most importantly remained composed. Subsequently our passes were complete and players even began to make runs, though we did not score. Midway through the second half, however, our opponent was fouled in the box and capitalized on the penalty. Yet our team only increased the pressure, never once hanging heads. That response is one of the most crucial aspects to victory. Late in the game, Imago’s determination paid off: we scored, again ending in a tie. On November 1, we pro-

together as a team. Surprisingly our team largely controlled the game, but the result was a draw, 3-3. Though our players were not confident in their ability and were only beginning to develop a feel for the fundamentals of the game, we were encouraged by our performance and trained more intensely the following few weeks. On October 13, we challenged Lexington Christian Academy’s team. Our team absolutely dominated the game! Each player had improved so greatly throughout the preceding month that we were starting to operate as team. Because of the intense effort and focus

duced what we had been looking for! For the final match of the season, Nashua Christian Academy drove south to Fowler School. They were the most skilled squad we faced and played extremely well. Despite that fact, we possessed the ball most of the first half and generated many more chances than they. The score, however, was a frustrating 2-2 at halftime. After a quick talk from our coach and a short rest, we returned to the field. It was then the team really came together. We contained the play on their half for most of the remaining time. We possessed the ball, conducting the flow of the game and keeping the other team chasing after the ball, which became their only option. Runs and well-
placed balls created even more chances. Finally we struck with precision in the final third of the field and we scored three more goals, leaving with our first win of the season! Our soccer season helped us to build a team mentality. We found we were willing to sacrifice for our teammates, work hard for them, and have their backs. Together we fought to be the best and recovered after setbacks, constantly advancing. As a team, we won graciously. These values apply not only to athletics, but to everyday life. Although we only practiced a mere handful of times and played in a total of three games, we had formed a team. And a good team at that! Our seventh and eighth grade classes were

Each and every one stepped up to the task, regardless of existing skill and experience, and displayed tremendous growth. Our two separate grades formed a bond and established friendships and memories. All who participated in the experience will remember it as a highlight of this year. Sudoku
Fun By The Numbers Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!
Here’s How It Works:
Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Although I was nervous when I got rescued, I was excited to see that I get fed every day at the shelter. Not to mention that the volunteers pet me and smile at me too. It sure does make me feel loved. I’m still a little on the shy side and tend to be a come-see-me cat. Belinda is my buddy and you’ll always see us together. (NAPSI)—With today’s technology, staying in touch with loved ones around the country—and the world—is easier than it’s ever been. We are connected to each other virtually day and night—from cell phones and video calls to social media, texting and e-mail. While we may rely on this technological closeness throughout the year, the holidays offer a unique opportunity to sit and spend time with family members, particularly older family members, whom we don’t see on a regular basis. This face-to-face time provides a chance to connect, catch up, and observe behaviors that may go undetected over the phone or through e-mail. Certain changes in these behaviors from year to year may indicate a need for long-term care. While each passing year will show some changes in an older family member’s capabilities and function, the table at right provides common changes in
action unlimited behavior to watch for to get a better idea of where your loved ones stand functionally. It’s important not to focus on the behavior itself, but rather the change in that behavior compared to what is considered normal for that person. For example, someone who has always been quiet and somewhat introverted would be held to a different standard than someone who is usually very outgoing and conversational, but now seems withdrawn and isolated. Based on the information you gather, it may be time to start thinking about your family’s plan for long-term care. The time to plan is now Millions of Americans require long-term care at some point during their lifetime.* This type of care includes assistance with everyday activities like bathing, dressing and eating, or supervision due to a severe cognitive impairment like Alzheimer’s disease. Surprisingly, the type of care needed to provide assistance with these activities can be expensive and is generally not covered by traditional health plans or Medicare. In many cases, taking care of an older relative often falls on family members or friends. However, depending on the location of family members and friends, this support is often not available or may be a bigger challenge than many expect or are willing to take on. Take a closer look By paying attention to some common behaviors, you can begin to determine whether a loved one is having difficulty performing everyday activities. Noticing changes in behavior that may be due to an emerging physical or cognitive impair-
ment is an important first step. Based on what you observe, the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) may be worth considering when developing your family’s plan for long-term care. How did you answer? Mostly unchanged. The best time for you and your family members to consider long-term care insurance is long before it’s needed. Because the FLTCIP is medically underwritten, it’s important to apply while you’re still in good health to avoid the risk that a future illness or medical condition may prevent you from obtaining coverage later. Also, premiums are directly related to age. This means that premiums tend to be lower for younger applicants. Recognized changes. If you’re already a FLTCIP enrollee and recognize some of these behavioral changes in a loved one, contact a FLTCIP care coordinator at the phone number provided at right to gather important information about the different care options that may be available. A call to one of their licensed health care practitioners can provide valuable information such as an assessment of need, direction on developing a plan for long-term care services, and access to discounted services and providers, where available. The FLTCIP, unlike most longterm care insurance plans, provides certain care coordination services to qualified relatives of enrollees at no cost. FLTCIP eligibility Many members of the federal family are eligible to apply for coverage under the FLTCIP, including federal and U.S. Postal Service employees and annuitants, as well as active

and retired members of the uniformed services. Qualified relatives such as spouses, domestic partners, parents and parentsin-law, and adult children are also eligible to apply. For a complete eligibility list, visit www.LTCFEDS.com/eligibility. To learn more about the FLTCIP, visit www.LTCFEDS. com. For personalized assistance, call (800) LTC-FEDS (800) 582-3337)/ TTY (800) 843-3557 to speak with a program consultant. Consultants are available to answer any questions you may have and can walk you step by step through the plan design and application process. * Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Long-Term Care Services in the United States,” www.cdc.gov/nchs/ data/nsltcp/long_term_care_ services_2013.pdf (accessed March 2015).

FPC Sunday Service On Sunday, Dec. 3, First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC) will welcome the Rev. Marta I. Valentin, who will lead services at 9 and 11 a.m. In a service entitled “Roots Hold Me Close,” parishioners will be able to take a break from any chaos in their lives, in the world, and during a busy holiday season, as Rev. The Section 179 Deduction was enacted as part of the IRS tax code in 2008 to help small business with their vehicle and equipment purchases. This law allows your commercial and fleet customers to claim full purchase price of certain GMC vehicles totaling up to $510,000 ( for eligible vehicles) as a tax deduction The amounts that can be deducted depend on the vehicles purchased. For example, passenger vehicles bought by a business may qualify for deductions of $11,160, $11,560, or $25,000. A business that spends $2,030,000 on multiple vehicles can take a deduction of up to $510,000.
