My name is Molly and I'm kind of a miracle. I'm only six years old, but if you'd seen me when I first came to the shelter, you'd never believe I'd make it this far! But here I am, healthier than ever and twice as plump! Between you and me though, I'll gladly do some more plumping if you're willing to supply the treats. As much I don't like this part, I need someone who'll make sure I get my thyroid medicine too. I feel so much better than I did in my old life and I never want to look back. There is ONE thing I love more than treats, and that's attention. I love to be loved and I have so much to give back to you that I'd prefer not to share my people with any other cats. If your calm home needs a Molly to liven it up, I'm your girl. I'm available to foster or adopt, but let's face it, there's no way you'll give me back! The CCC is in need of supplies, especially litter (Scoop Away), bleach, laundry detergent, dry and wet cat and kitten food (Purina/Friskies), paper towels, trash bags, and treats! Any help is very much appreciated! We are located at 289 Thompson Road in Webster and are open Thursday through Sunday 12pm-3:30pm. You can see more of our adoptable cats on Petfinder and Adopt-a-pet and we would love it if you would follow us and share our kitties on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com /pages/Community-Cat Connection/18375625177438. Please email us at info@ccatconnect.org for any questions!

Enjoy more time outdoors (even when it’s cold) The amount of time people spend outdoors has dramatically decreased, as the Environmental Protection Agency now reports the average American spends 87 percent of his or her time in a residence, school building or workplace. Being outside is linked to better moods, more physical activity and less exposure to contaminants (concentrations of some pollutants are often two to five times higher indoors). Also, people who spend time outside may not come into contact with surface germs or develop various illnesses spread as often as those who spend a lot of time indoors.

The Feed4Thought survey found that 43 percent of American millennials say a pig's diet inuences their purchasing (BPT) - Pulled pork, ham steaks, decisions and - no surprise - bacon chops, tenderloin and everyone's is their favorite pork product. favorite, bacon - Americans love pork, and consume about 64 pounds Caring about food sources per person every year, according to "Many consumers, millennials U.S. Department of Agriculture in particular, are speaking loudly statistics. But Americans' interest in about the importance of knowing pork goes far beyond what barbecue what is on the dinner table and sauce to use on it, or how to serve where it came from," says Patrick the perfect holiday ham; they also Duerksen, Cargill global marketing care about where their pork comes director, pork. With the USDA forecasting demand for pork will increase in While millennials cared the most 2017, Cargill polled more than about pigs' diets, they also trusted 2,000 people in the U.S. and Spain the least (42 percent) that the pork to get an idea of what people want they eat has been raised on what

they would consider a healthy diet. In reality, pigs largely eat corn, soybean meal, vitamins and minerals. Swine feed, like products developed by Cargill, are precise formulations that can incorporate probiotics, antioxidants and essential oils to promote better gut health, digestion and metabolism. Feed facts Millennials, and Americans in general, also overestimated the amount of feed required to nourish a pig to market weight of 275 pounds, the survey shows. Fortyone percent of millennials thought pigs need more feed to reach market weight today than they did 50 years ago, 27 percent were unsure and just 32 percent knew less feed is required. Improved nutrition and efficiency of modern feed mean today's pigs require less feed to reach market weight, Duerksen notes. Fifty years ago, a pig would need to eat more than 1,000 pounds of feed to reach market weight. Today, it requires just over 600 pounds.
was required and 30 percent were unsure. The future of pork Ninety-four percent of all consumers polled by Cargill say they eat pork, with bacon, pork chops and ham being the three favorite cuts. The USDA reports that the U.S. is the third-largest pork producer and consumer in the world. Americans aren't the only people who love pork, either. Pork represents 40 percent of all meat consumed globally, according to the National Pork Board. The U.S. is the largest exporter of pork and pork products, accounting, on average, for more than 20 percent of the world's commercial pork production, the USDA says.
"With demand for pork increasing domestically and globally, a growing number of consumers feel it's important to know how the pork they're eating was raised and the nutritional value of the feed pigs consume," Duerksen says. "They already know pork tastes great and Similarly, only a third knew it takes is a good source of protein and less land and water to raise a pig to other nutrients. They also want to market weight today than 50 years know their pork came from animals ago, while 37 percent thought more that were raised responsibly."

Wine and Wings? Getting Creative for the Big Game (StatePoint) Everyone enjoys a hearty spread of comfort food for the big game. The range of flavors and textures in these dishes tend to run the gamut from salty, spicy, and meaty, to creamy, crunchy, and cheesy, making beer the natural pairing. However, if your drink of choice is wine, finding the right selection can be tricky. Sauvignon Blanc is very foodfriendly, particularly when paired with many game day favorites like nachos, guacamole, salsas and chicken with some heat. Those from the Marlborough region of New Zealand, such as Infamous Goose Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (SRP $14.99), are crisp, with bright citrus and cool herbal flavors, and would pair well with the majority of dishes on your table. The reason this wine is such a refreshing selection, is that the Sauvignon Blanc grape is grown in relatively cool climates for a slow ripening period, which intensifies the flavors in the fruit. If you enjoy wings, finding a wine pairing for your feast will be your biggest challenge due to the range of toppings -- from bold-flavored spices to thick, mouth-coating sauces. Try serving Lemon Pepper Wings alongside a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. With its vibrant aromas of fresh lemons, limes, green apple, Thai basil and a touch of floral honey, it is a delicious pairing with this bright dish. When served chilled, the cooling herbal notes in the wine will also help to temper the seasoning. Ingredients: • 2 cups oil, or as needed • 1/4 cup butter melted • 1/2 tablespoon lemon pepper • 1 tablespoon lemon juice • 12 chicken wings
Directions • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F. • Stir lemon pepper and lemon juice into 1/4 cup melted butter, set aside. • Fry the chicken wings in hot oil until no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, about 8 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F.

Skip “diet” drinks: Of course, you know not to order the regular cola with your meal, but you figure the lower-calorie diet version is an okay choice. Not necessarily. One recent review of research found that artificial sweeteners often used in diet drinks may not be as beneficial for weight management as intended, and that drinking them regularly may be linked to an increased body mass index. If you want something fizzy, opt for seltzer with lemon or lime. But if you can’t stop dreaming of that diet soda, it doesn’t have to be completely off-limits. Just try to cut back. Moderation is key!
Even if you’re tracking your food intake with an app or food journal, overestimating portions can sabotage progress. McCormick’s solution: Measure portions -- not forever, but for a while at the start. Doing so will help you get a visual of what portions should actually look like. You may also consider eliminating some of the guesswork with a program, such as Nutrisystem, that offers pre-portioned, nutritionallybalanced meals. 5. Reduce stress: Stress can cause your body to burn calories more slowly, which could lead to weight gain, according to a study. Plus, stress increases hormones that stimulate appetite, and the foods you’ll crave for comfort tend to be high in fat and sugar. Help manage stress with deep breathing, meditation, exercise, hanging out with friends or listening to music.
2. Drink more water: Every part of your body needs water to work properly. When you don’t get enough, your body can’t perform normal functions, which can drain your energy. More fatigue means less physical activity. Plus, mild dehydration is often masked as hunger -- prompting you to grab a snack when all you really need More tips on jump-starting your is water. Slow down: It takes 20 minutes for the “I’m full” signals from your stomach to reach your brain. When you inhale your food, it’s much easier to eat more than your body
