Once the buffet table opens, take a visual sweep past it before jumping in line and making your selections. This way you'll avoid piling one of everything onto your plate needlessly when you eventually pass through. Don't be first in line. The food in a buffet line looks pretty in the beginning. Once people serve themselves, it's not as appealing and you'll eat less. Get a small plate. This trick helps limit portion size. Avoid the white stuff. Given other options, skip the white rice, white pasta and white bread. They're loaded with calories but no nutrients. Choose items with whole grains instead. They're full of nutrients and have fiber, which will fill you up so you won't eat as much.

Delight in dessert. Dessert is probably the toughest temptation of all. But there's no reason to skip. Most of us have a sweet tooth. Satisfy that sweet craving with some fresh fruit. To make sure it's available, bring some as a hostess gift; it's always welcome. "Overall, pace yourself," advises Galicki. "Enjoy the food and festivities."

Flower Gallery Annual Toys for Tots Collection Day scheduled for December 9th Flower Garden Florist at 72 East Main Street in Webster is inviting their customers, friends and the entire community to again join them for their Annual Toys for Tots Campaign Collection Day. Last years event was such a success, that they would love for the community to come together again for this very important cause. Shop owner, Lisa Grzyb-Sullivan, is a Marine Corps Veteran herself, so the success of this fundraising event is very important and close to her heart. While serving with Headquarters Company, 25th Marines, Grzyb-Sullivan helped to coordinate the Program for the entire Worcester County area. Last year Lisa contacted the local Marine Corps Reserve Center and asked for their support in hosting a “Pictures with Santa and the US Marines Day” at her flower shop. The support of the Marines was outstanding. Not only did they provide a detail of Marines in Dress Blues, but they staged a HMMWE outside the shop for kids to explore and take photos in. That, along

with Santa’s presence throughout the entire day, put smiles on many local children’s faces. Local businesses also stepped in to add to the success of the day last year. Many thanks to Bank Hometown! They donated many, many toys to help the collection boxes overflow. Another example of kindness in the community came from East Main Café. One of their waitresses donated a Gift Basket in which their patrons bought raffle tickets for. All the proceeds were donated to buy more toys for event. Flower Garden welcomes these, and any other local business to join in to make this day a great success again this year! The 2017 Pictures with Santa and the Marines Day is this Saturday, December 9th, 10:00am-3:00pm, at Flower Garden, 72 East Main Street, Webster. Please join them by bringing a New, Unwrapped Toy for donation to the Toys for Tots Collection and you can take great photos of your children Santa and the Marines. It is awesome to share the meaning of the reason for this toy collection with children during this holiday season... Love and giving is the reason for the season.

With his newly released Nashville recorded EP, Heartbreak Town, Cameron takes his songwriting and performance to a whole new level, this being his first full band and studio album. Transcending the genre of folk Americana, Cameron’s music echoes inspiration from singer/songwriters like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young – combining simple melodies and a lyrical intensity, while establishing a unique sound of his own.

The advantages of doggie daycare

Many working parents arrange for childcare to ensure their youngsters are taken care of while parents are at work. The same level of care has now been extended to other members of the household, namely the four-legged variety. Spending and attention directed toward companion animals continues to grow. The American Pet Product Association says that in 2017 an estimated $69.36 billion dollars is expected to be spent on pets in the United States alone. Canadians spend a lot on their pets as well, as the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada says pet owners are increasingly treating their dogs and cats like people. Pet spending in that country is expected to rise from $6.6 billion in 2014 to $8.3 billion by 2018. Some of the fastest growth in spending across North America includes eco-friendly pet services, premium food, puppy daycare, pet spas, and dogwalking services. Pet owners want to ensure that their pets are happy and healthy, and they’re willing to spend to make that a reality.

Bubba

Here I sit in a cage, overlooked and shy. Pay me some attention and help me to see why I haven't found a lovely home to last me all my days and entertain the family with my funny little ways. I'm such a friendly kitty when at last I know you well, and all I want is love and care and be your bestest pal. I love to play and every day I'll jump and chase and run to make you laugh, to cheer you up, until my playing's done. Although I have this FlV my life will not be sad I'll be a healthy, happy boy, the best you've ever had. I was a stray, but now I say I want to be your cat. So take me home and love me and that will then be that! The CCC is in need of supplies, especially litter (Scoop Away), bleach, laundry detergent, dry and wet cat and kitten food (Purina/Friskies), paper towels, trash bags, and treats! Any help is very much appreciated! We are located at 289 Thompson Road in Webster and are open Thursday through Sunday 12pm-3:30pm. You can see more of our adoptable cats on Petfinder and Adopt-a-pet and we would love it if you would follow us and share our kitties on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com /pages/Community-Cat Connection/18375625177438. Recognize the signs of hypothermia

temperature falls below 95 F (35 C).

The arrival of cold weather provides opportunities to romp in the snow, ski the slopes or enjoy an afternoon ice skating on a frozen pond. But spending time outdoors in the cold or even in an indoor space that is not adequately warmed can result in a serious health condition known as hypothermia.

When the body reaches lower temperatures, this can affect the heart, nervous system and certain organs, advises The Mayo Clinic. If left untreated, hypothermia may lead to cardiac and respiratory arrest. Early symptoms of hypothermia include shivering, fast breathing, cold and pale skin, tiredness, confusion, and slurred speech. As body temperatures drop, shivering may stop and a person may faint. Hypothermia frequently develops when people are exposed to the cold without warm and dry clothing for protection. Hypothermia also may develop when people get wet or are caught unaware of changes in weather. Wind removes body heat effectively, and direct contact with cold surfaces also can bring on hypothermia more quickly.

Hypothermia is defined as a potentially dangerous decrease in body temperature that is usually caused by prolonged exposure to cold conditions. Outdoors enthusiasts’ risk for hypothermia increases as winter progresses and temperatures drop even further. However, hypothermia can occur other times of the year if the body is chilled. For example, hypothermia can occur when boats capsize and boaters are suddenly tossed into a body of water, or when hikers get caught in the rain during evening hikes. WebMD says normal body Infants and the elderly may be temperature is 98.6 F (37 C), and at a higher risk of hypothermia hypothermia begins when body because their bodies aren’t attuned to regulating temperature.
