Hi there, my name is Sugar... because I'm sweet! What you see is what you get, and what you get is twenty pounds of love, eternally purring under this soft fur of mine. It's true that there is a lot of me to love right now, but I promise that if you help me slim down with a proper diet and a little space to trot around. I'm only about seven years old. I'm the quintessential lap cat, the southern belle of the feline world. I don't mind another friendly cat. I need someone who will let me sleep with them every night and will claim their laps at every given chance, and someone who will only lay their hands on me for pats and never shout in anger. Of all the poetic things I've heard about what can be seen in the eyes of a cat, I think you should give my pretty yellow peepers a try. And when you do and you feel the warmth inside, I'll know that I am home. The CCC is in need of supplies, especially litter (Scoop Away), bleach, laundry detergent, dry and wet cat and kitten food (Purina/Friskies), paper towels, trash bags, and treats! Any help is very much appreciated! We are located at 289 Thompson Road in Webster and are open Thursday through Sunday 12pm-3:30pm. You can see more of our adoptable cats on Petfinder and Adopt-a-pet and we would love it if you would follow us and share our kitties on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com /pages/Community-Cat Connection/18375625177438. Please email us at info@ccatconnect.org for any questions!

Warm hearts
keep kids from being cold. As beautiful as winter can be in New England, the bitter cold nights find many children going to sleep without the warmth that we often take for granted. Over the years, our annual pajama drive has helped provide many needy children with pajamas and slippers. Sadly, every winter a critical need remains. Our community support is so important. Through the warmth of our hearts, we can help stop children from going to sleep cold this winter.
Pajama Drive Nov. 24th through Dec. 15th Donations accepted at all bankHometown locations
• Please donate complete sets with a top, bottom or appropriate nightgown. • Children sizes 4T and up, as well as women’s sizes, small and medium, are of greatest need but all sizes are thankfully accepted.

Busted: 5 of the biggest holiday myths (BPT) - Holiday fantasies are not just for children. It turns out grownups actually celebrate the holidays living by their own set of myths, and they probably don't even know it. If all the holiday prep and bustle is giving your inner Grinch a migraine, you may find yourself in very good company! A recent Coinstar survey, conducted among 2,000 adults by Atomik Research, uncovered some of these hidden attitudes toward the holidays. The findings revealed truths behind the following five myths we often cling to when it comes to the holiday season. Myth No. 1: Regifting is in poor taste Many people have a secret stash tucked into drawers and stuffed way back into closets: Presents from the past they don't really want but the guilt is too strong to let them go. If you think regifting is a tacky solution to lightening the load, here's a good secret you should know. Nearly two-thirds of us (65 percent) do it anyway, according to the survey. So if you can picture your aunt's wide grin when she sees that over-the-top holiday sweater, by all means, wrap it up and give it to her. She'll commend you for your excellent taste and your holiday budget will also give a tiny gasp of relief.
your change to fill out your holiday budget. Remember this: Most people who cash in spare change have more than they think, and according to the survey that's about $78 on average. So don't discount the power of pocket change. Grab a container and explore the nooks and crannies of your house just to see what you find. Check handbags, car consoles, spare change jars, dresser drawers and sofa cushions. With this new cash stash, you can easily knock out an item or two on Myth No. 2: Sticking to a holiday Myth No. 3: Adding spare change your budget. to your budget doesn't add up budget is just too hard After past failures to make a holiday These days, you think pocket change Myth No. 4: Spending time with budget, you decided it's just easier won't even cover the cost of a cup family is what the holidays are all to close your eyes and dive into a of coffee. Which is why you may about not be in the habit of counting on No better occasion than the holidays to spend quality time with your family, eating a delicious meal, followed by opening gifts in the soft glow of the fireplace www.KRDLandscaping.com and twinkling lights. If picturing Spring & Fall Clean-Ups your extended family in this idyllic Flower Designs • Pavers & Walkways holiday scene is more than a stretch of the imagination, you're not alone. Lawncare • Rock Wall One in five people say they'd rather Sprinkler System Installation bow out of the family celebration. In fact, they'd prefer to spend time with friends, be alone or go credit coma until January. Because it's impossible to keep up with the unexpected extras that keep popping up: added gifts, events, replacement decorations, holiday attire and food. Here's a reality check. Some 68 percent of people stick to a holiday budget. Maybe past failures can be chalked up to not having enough information to create a good plan. Look back on last year's bank and credit card statements to help you make a better plan for this year.
to work. But for those who enjoy family time, holidays are perfect for making new memories. Myth No. 5: Gift-giving comes from the heart Ideally, every single gift is a pure expression of love and generosity from the giver, right? Wrong. You probably have a competitive gift giver in your group. And maybe it's even you! One quarter of Americans confessed to getting into an altogether different kind of holiday spirit when it comes to buying presents. They want to be the one behind the most talkedabout, flashiest or best gift at the gathering. Whatever the motivation, keep on giving. Now that you know the truth behind some common holiday myths, give your holiday spending power a boost by visiting the nearest Coinstar kiosk. Cash in your extra change for cash or a no-fee eGift card for well-known retailers and get more gifts crossed off your holiday list.

Brides and grooms understandably feel a little stress when planning their weddings. Adding to the pressure is the fact that, according to a WeddingWire.com report, the average couple in their 30s spends $32,000 on their wedding. That is a lot of money riding on one day. Save some money by asking the bakery cake artist to decorate a foam-tiered “mock” cake for pictures and display, and serve guests from an inexpensive sheet cake in the kitchen.

In talking about New England’s General Stores: Exploring an American Classic, broadcast journalist Ted Reinstein shares the rich and colorful history of this iconic institution, how they figured in the rise of early American commerce, why they began to fade, and why—like another New England icon, the diner—they have begun to come back and even be re-invented and re-imagined for a new era. Told with anecdotes from a variety of local landmark stores across the region, the presentation is accompanied by the award-winning photography of Art Donahue.

help wanted employers may be blindsided by an employee’s desire to leave, particularly in cases when said employee never communicated with a supervisor about the desire for more responsibility or to discuss something that may not be working. A boss who respects your work and values you as an asset may make a counter-offer. Hear him or her out and weigh your options.

While two weeks’ notice is the norm, leaving more time for an employer to find your replacement, and helping to train this individual, is a sure sign of respect for your current employer. Christmas trees brighten the season Decked out in tinsel, lights, ornaments, and garland, Christmas trees are enduring symbols of the holiday season that boast a rich history. Evergreen trees have been used to celebrate winter festivals for thousands of years, and eventually became associated with Christianity. Plants and trees that remained green all year held special meaning to ancient peoples, and were purported to keep away illness and evil spirits.

living trees can be promptly planted after they’ve served their purpose indoors. Opt for a moderately sized tree, as root balls on larger trees can be heavy and difficult to move. Living trees can typically be kept indoors for around seven to 10 days before they will need to be returned outside. Move such trees to a sheltered outdoor area for one to two weeks so they can reacclimate to the climate. So long as the ground is not frozen, trees can then be planted when the reacclimation period ends. Better Homes and Gardens suggests selecting a mild day to plant the tree.
Germans were credited with tying evergreen trees to Christmas celebrations. In the sixteenth century, devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Martin Luther, the Protestant reformer, is believed to have first added lighted candles to these trees after he was inspired by twinkling stars in the night sky.
