When you become a member of St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s unique Job-IQ Professional Contacts Directory, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE by sharing your work expertise, career story and professional guidance with an SMCM student who requests to connect with you for that purpose. Relationships with talented working professionals are a key factor in growing a student’s understanding of workplace expectations and skills. Building a personal network during college is also important as students plan their careers. Thank you to working professionals: our St. Mary’s College of Maryland alumni, board members, friends in the community, associates of The Patuxent Partnership and the Southern Maryland Heritage Area who are willing to share their professional expertise with our students through this unique tool made solely for SMCM!

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
1.
Sign up at: https://www.job-iq.com/school/smcm/landing
2.
After you sign up, your profile and photo will be listed in the directory.
3.
The Job-IQ program will sort the directory according to the student’s input.
4.
The student will reach out to directory members who are a good match with their interests.
5.
You will receive an email from a student requesting a virtual meeting.
6.
If possible, please return the student’s email within 48 hours.
We developed the directory so you can offer a range of assistance, from a phone conversation to an invitation to a virtual networking event in your field. Some students you may speak to once; others you may work with over a period of months. We know you are busy and have designed Job-IQ so you can volunteer the amount of time that works for you. When you sign up you will be asked how many students you can support, with a limit of five.
NOTE ABOUT COVID-19: Due to the cancelation of college job fairs and on campus interviews, Job-IQ is expanding rapidly, especially to meet the needs of our graduating seniors. We need your help and ask that you encourage colleagues to join too. Students may be facing academic, financial, social, emotional, or other serious difficulties right now. Job-IQ is intended to provide career connections but is not a substitute for psychological counseling which is available through the College’s Wellness Center.
