Santa Monica is famed for its culinary delights and residents have the privilege of enjoying many of these treats from the comfort of their couches thanks to Santa Monica’s excellent local catering businesses.
Maire Byrne is the owner of Thyme Cafe & Market on Ocean Park Blvd, a small cafe and market which o ers seasonal salads and sandwiches. Maire says “We have a Gourmet to Go that o ers fresh and frozen soups, stews, and delicious meals to make friends and family feel at home. We also have a full service time, and silver linings. Maire says that customers
catering company where we o er full event planning including food and alcohol, rentals, sta , and valet services.” Maire says that the Cafe and Market has done a lot to adapt in the past months in the face of the economic challenges of 2020. “We are delivering a lot more, and o ering curbside pick-up. We fed over 30,000 first responders during the crisis which was with holidays and packages to keep our customer engaged.” Customers of the cafe have talked to Marie about a range of topics including what Thyme is doing to stay sanitary, about how people are afraid, about schools reopening, about politics, and sadness, and family
incredible! We are also working hard to be creative are grateful to have a listening ear. Maire says that Thyme’s biggest strength in the coming months is their emphasis on personal service: “We answer the phone. We are there for our customers! We are following the rules of distance and cleanliness and I think that is all very important!”
The support of the community through the Most Loved vote means everything to Maire. “Our community has helped us keep our doors open and my employees working. We are all grateful to be able to serve the community. Our guests have shown us so much love and gratitude over the past 5 months!!”

Jim Osorno, a former Broadway performer, opened his first brick-and-mortar bakery in Wilmont serving ingredients.”
cookies, macaroons and Oprah-approved brownies. Jim said his small-batch recipes are passed down from his parents and grandmother and use fresh local ingredients.
The business grew out of an online shop and the bakery’s top-selling sweet is grandma’s mix-up bars, which is based on a recipe Osorno’s Grandma O used chunks, coconut and crushed pecans drizzled with sweet cream atop a homemade graham cracker crust. Close behind is lemon raspberry shortbread and salted caramel brownies, which were featured in O Magazine in 2017.
