O.L.E.R.C Onondaga Lake Education and Research Center Professor Clare Olsen
This building is located on the Northwest shore of Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, NY. The project seeks to blur the boundary between interior and exterior spaces, artifice and garden. The formal design began with two intersecting bars oriented for sun exposure and site demands. The heart of the project becomes a transitional space between the different areas of the building. Each wing is programmatically independent of the others. Sectionally, the first floor is dedicated to education and community outreach while the second floor is set aside for laboratory and research facilities. The mission of the research is to find ways to clean up Onondaga Lake and the visitor center attempts to create some public awareness about the life-cycle of water and ways they can conserve and help the environment.

Haus K in O Music Education School for Blind Children Visiting Professor Jurgen Johner Comprehensive Design Studio In collaboration with Max Marin This building is located in the Ottmarschen district of Hamburg, Germany. The project is part of a renovation effort of an existing palatial house to incorporate a music school for the visually impaired. The project focuses on senses other than sight and how they might be incorporated and manipulated to guide students through the school. Tactile handrails and floor tiles dilineate different kinds of thresholds and materials in different rooms are chosen for their acoustic qualities. The program consists mostly of practice rooms and small group classrooms. There are also offices and two large auditoria, a health center and cafeteria.

Film Archive and Exhibition Professor Daniel de Riva Florence, Italy In collaboration with Shaun Selberg This building is located along the Arno River in Florence, IT. The building is intended to house the ever-increasing collection of architectural films of Marco Brizzi and Paola Giaconia. The main design challenge with this site - and indeed with the rest of Florence - is considering how the project will be used by both the residents of the city and the millions of tourists who come each year. This project has its roots in the history of Florence and the Palazzos of the most prominent families. The building formally addresses the levels and arranges program to mirror the historical references - public on the ground floor, meeting room on the first floor, and private on the second floor.
Lift Raise the building one storey in order to offer public space on the waterfront. Utilized mostly by tourists.
Extend Views to Piazza Michelangelo, Ponte Vecchio and the Palazzo Vecchio on higher floors. Utilized mostly by local citizens of Florence and ardent architectural film enthusiasts.
Structure Steel columns and poured concrete floors modernizes the Palazzo with curtain wall facades and large windows.

Upwardly Mobile Transitional Housing in Rittenhouse Square Visiting Critic Studio Scott Erdy and Dave McHenry This project places a soup kitchen and transitional housing in one of the highest rent disctricts in Philadelphia. The soup kitchen is placed at the top to serve as a beacon that can be seen from across the city. The residential tower is punctuated by large public spaces like legal services, career assistance and the health center. There are additional spaces for a thrift stor and grocery above the street level. The sequence is about salvation and the people making their way to the soup kitchen see the potential in deciding to improve their lives.

JJA - der Turm TV Tower Renovation JJ Architekten Hamburg, Germany In collaboration with: Muneerah Alrabe Grant Foster Hamburg’s TV Tower is a symbol for the city. Until about 10 years ago the tower worked as a telecommunications repeater and had a restaurant that overlooked the city. When the lease expired on the restaurant it became vacant and since it passed the 10 vacancy mark it must subscribe to the new building code. That means that it requires at least one new set of fire stairs and additional structure to withstand the wind loads. These concerns are at the heart of this proposition. We also incorporated a wind turbine to show the importance of sustainable energy.

JJA - Baufeld 77 Multi - Residence Building JJ Architekten Hamburg, Germany In collaboration with: Muneerah Alrabe Grant Foster Mike Ma This building is located in Hamburg in the Baufeld district. This competition focused on one part of the housing block while several other architects designed some of the other infill sites in the area. The project had a lot of zoning and code restrictions. The use of brick was one of these requirements and we took that and made the brick into an undulating surface texture, waving back and forth.

JJA - TK Haus Thyssen Krupp Corporate Headquarters JJ Architekten Hamburg, Germany In collaboration with: Muneerah Alrabe Grant Foster Mike Ma Max Marin This building is located on museum island in Berlin. It is adjacent to the Altes Museum and other significant architectural projects. As a new corporate building for the engineering company we thought that this would be a good opportunity to showcase the ingenuity of the brand. The exterior rotating, double sided louvers and interior elevator are two examples of this.

Pb Elemental - Houses Residential properties for contractors and real estate developers Pb Elemental Design Seattle, WA
These projects showcase the work I completed while employed at Pb Elemental Design during the Summer of 2011. My involvement with these projects focuses on 3D model construction, image rendering and drawing editing. Most of the projects are in the Greater Seattle Area. Several of the projects use similar materials such as hardiback panels and cedar wood siding.
