Lavarini founded a group which counts ten “Spaghetti House” restaurants in London and is still a family business., with one of his three children – Luigi – as Ceo (the others two are Stefana and Riccardo).

“He was much loved and respected for the dedication of his life to his family and community as well as his beloved Spaghetti House”, wrote the group in an Instagram announcement of his death.

“My father, Simone, opened our first restaurant back in 1955, with his friend Lorenzo, in London's Goodge Street. Their idea – Luigi Savarini says in the internet site of the group - was to introduce people to the fresh, simple Italian food that the two of them had loved back home. They were hugely successful, as Londoners too fell in love with the fresh food and welcoming ambience of a traditional Italian restaurant. Today, that simple recipe remains as popular as ever and our family is proud to have 10 local restaurants, across Central London, all sharing the same values that my father believed in over 65 years ago”.

A funeral service was held at Mintlyn Crematorium on the 3rd of March, while a rememberance ceremony is going to be organized at The St. Peter's Italian Church in Clerkenwell. LaR
