Join the tour leader for a walk through the town. Then proceed along the coast to the nearby St. Jean de Luz. Time is permitted to have lunch (extra) in this beautiful town located on the Basque coast. Later head to the mountain village of Col d’Ibardin, located on the border between Spain and France. Dinner at your hotel and overnight. (B, D) Saturday 10th December: After breakfast enjoy the morning exploring Lourdes. After lunch we suggest an optional afternoon excursion to Pont d’Espagne (1500 meters). The bridge was built in the 19th century and was used as a pathway into Spain by traders carrying their goods such as cheese, animals and wine in each direction. Visiting two of the most famous Christmas markets in Poland – Gdansk & Warsaw, Lazienki Park and Wilanow Palace Wola in Warsaw. Wola is a district in western Warsaw, which suffered the loss of tens of thousands of lives during WW2, which however stood up to become nowadays one of the strongest growing districts in Warsaw. We will be able to taste the delicacies of the charming wooden huts, and feel the magical atmosphere of this market modelled on the best Viennese fairs. Saturday 10th December: Breakfast at the hotel and prepare yourself for a full day sightseeing tour of Poland’s largest city Warsaw. You will be truly fascinated by the history and atmosphere of this magnificent city, which combines the influences of Western and Eastern Europe, where tradition meets modernity. Walking along the Royal Way you will see the most beautiful sits in the Old Town, including St. John’s Cathedral and the Royal Castle – once home to the Polish Royal family.

We will also have time to visit the Sigismund Monument and enjoy some free time in the Palace Square adorned with a massive Christmas tree erected for the occasion.

Thursday 8th December: On the feast of the Immaculate Conception (public holiday), meet the Tour leader at Malta International Airport at 0550hrs for check in Ryanair direct flight to Gdansk, Poland departing at 0750hrs. Sunday 11th December: After breakfast, we invite you for a full day excursion to visit Lazienki Palace (Royal Bath Park) which is one of the most beautiful parks in Warsaw. In the 18th century it was turned into an English-style park with formal gardens and the neoclassical Lazienki Palace was built on the park’s lake. Other sites include the Orangery, Myslewicki Palace, the Observatory, Belvedere Palace and a Greek-style amphitheatre where Chopin concerts are held every summer. We will then head to Wilanow Palace and Park. In the early 17th century this Baroque palace was turned into the Summer’s Royal residence.

After the war it was converted into a museum with a rich collection of Polish portraits, original furniture and interior décor. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Kings Christmas Light Garden (entrance fee extra).

Monday 12th December - After breakfast prepare yourself for an optional full day excursion to Nuremberg. It’s a city on the Pegnitz River and the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal in the German state of Bavaria. Nuremberg is often referred to as being the ‘unofficial capital’ of the Holy Roman Empire. Some free time to explore the city center. Then you go to its Christmas Market - 180 wooden stalls, festooned with red-and-white cloth, which have given the Christmas Market its name of “Little Town from Wood and Cloth”.

Each year 200 stall holders present their traditional wares: Nuremberg spicy gingerbread, fruit loaves, bakery goods, sweets and typical Christmas articles such as Christmas tree angels, cribs, Christmas tree ornaments, candles, toys as well as many arts and craft products. Favourite souvenirs include the “Nuremberg Plum People”, little figures made from prunes. For refreshments we highly recommend Nuremberg roast sausages and mugs of mulled wine. Wednesday 14th December - After breakfast you will check out and join the leader for a morning excursion to Mainz. The city is located on the river Rhine at its confluence with the Main opposite Wiesbaden, in the western part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main. It’s worth visiting Mainz Cathedral of St. Martin (Mainzer Dom), over 1,000 years old. St. John’s Church, 7th-century church building, Staatstheater Mainz, the Iron Tower, the Wood Tower (Holzturm, tower at the former wood market), a 15th-century gate tower. The Mainz Old Town – what’s left of it, the quarter south of the cathedral survived World War II and the Marktbrunnen, one of the largest Renaissance fountains in Germany.

Sunday 11th December - Breakfast at hotel and today join us on our optional full day excursion which will take us to the beautiful Heidelberg which is situated on the River Neckar in south-west Germany. Heidelberg is a popular tourist destination due to its romantic and picturesque cityscape, including Heidelberg Castle and the baroque style Old Town. You start by visiting its’ Christmas Market. The scents of roasted almonds, cinnamon and hot chestnuts waft through the winding alley ways of the Old Town. Against the romantic backdrop of the castle, couples glide hand-in-hand on skates, and the gaily decorated Christmas stalls murmur with the international confusion of voices. Saturday 10th December: After breakfast join the tour leader for a walking city tour of Frankfurt. Frankfurt is the business and financial center of Germany and the largest city in the German state of Hesse. You shall start your city tour by visiting the Römerberg, the old center of Frankfurt, with a number of historic buildings dating to the 14th and 15th century, the Dom dedicated to Saint Bartholomeus, the main Cathedral built in Gothic style and the Eiserner Steg (Iron bridge), Frankfurt’s most well-known pedestrian bridge. It is just a minute away from the Römer, and provides great views of the skyline and the Main River. On the other side, you will reach Sachsenhausen, a district known for its museums and

historic pubs. Alte Oper (Old Opera) Renaissance Opera Building in the center of the city, is a busy square with fountains and cafés. Then free time for other personal sightseeing or for shopping. We suggest the Zeil which is the main shopping street in Frankfurt and in fact one of the most frequented shopping streets in Europe. On your arrival in Austria’s capital city you shall make a short stop at the Schonbrunn Palace to see its marvellous grounds and the famous Nettuno fountain lying under the dominating ‘Gloriette’. Your next stop would be at the famous Hunderwasserhaus with its unique but impressive design. You then continue our panoramic city tour passing by numerous important buildings. The rest of the afternoon is free and you may admire some important sites such as the Hofburg (Imperial Palace) and the imposing St. Stephen Cathedral or you may wish to spend some free time on the renowned shopping street of Mariahilferstrasse.

This great river is Europe’s second longest river, with a total of 2857kms, stretching from the Black Forest to the Black Sea! Over the years the river carved a path between the Visegrad and Borzsony Mountains, considered to be one of the most beautiful stretches of the Danube River. This unique show, which also includes lunch, is a presentation of a centuries-old horse riding tradition by professional riders. Friday 30th December: Today, after breakfast, we offer you the optional excursion to the village of Bran and the city of Brasov. We stop to visit the most famous Bran castle, famous due to the to Count Dracula’s legend, written in 1897 by Bram Stoker and later made into a film by Francis Ford Coppola. Along the history, the castle had a strategic position due to its position between Transylvania and Wallachia. Today, converted into a museum that houses a collection of ceramics silver collection, furniture, weapons and folk costumes.

Afterwards, we shall join the group by crossing the mountains to Transylvania to the city of Brasov, where we will have a walking tour of the historical city centre.

Free time for personal sightseeing and shopping, before returning to your hotel for overnight.

Saturday 31st December: Today, after a late breakfast has been left free, to be dedicated for the personal enjoyment of the city of Bucharest. Bucharest is the capital municipality, cultural, industrial, and financial center of Romania. It is the largest city in Romania, located in the southeast of the country. The city has many tourism attractions and NYE celebrations waiting for you to explore. In the evening we suggest that you join the locals for the various city wide celebrations.

Our next stop would be at the City center where one can follow the tour leader for a walk crossing the historical wooden roofed Chapel Bridge built in the 14th century, and see the picturesque Water Tower. Saturday 31 December: After Breakfast we offer you an optional full day to Lugano. So join the tour leader on this option full day excursion to enjoy the city center and the surroundings such as Mt. San Salvadore, Mt. Bre, and some nice walks along the embankments of the lake. Please don’t forget your cameras. A boat ride (extra) it’s a must on this beautiful enchanting lake.

Sunday 01 January: Happy New Year! Today after breakfast we offer you an optional full day to Locarno & Valle Verzasca. In Locarno, we suggest to take the funicular (extra) and visit the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso home for pilgrimages in Orselina, above the city of Locarno. You than proceed to Valle Verzasca. Relax and enjoy this beautiful scenery where your first stop will be near the Ponte dei Salti. This bridge dates back to the 17th century and is built on the site of an ancient Roman bridge. You then continue to the Contra Dam, commonly known as the Verzasca Dam and the Locarno Dam. This is an arch dam on the Verzasca River. The dam became a popular bungee jumping venue after a James Bond stuntman jumped off it in the opening scene of the 1995 film Golden Eye; a stunt voted as the best movie stunt of all time in a 2002 Sky Movies poll. Return in time to your hotel for dinner (extra) and overnight.

Friday 30 December: Meet the tour leader at Malta International airport at 0700hrs for your flight to Milan (Linate) departing at 9am. Upon arrival in Milan (Linate) at 1100hrs you start your holiday by first visiting Milan and stop near Piazza Duomo for the most famous Christmas Markets, some free time for leisure and then you continue your journey to your 3* Hotel Belsit in Comerio. Wednesday 4 January: Today after breakfast join the tour leader for an optional excursion to Luino Market and Lago Maggiore. For those of you in love with shopping, Luino is the most famous market in the Lake Maggiore area. One can find various things from almost 400 stands, selling clothes, leather goods, haberdashery with rare threads and ribbons for sewing and embroidery, plates, tableware and popular fruit and vegetables. You then continue your excursion to Stresa where one can take a boat ride (extra) to Isola dei Pescatori (meaning Fishermen’s Island) circumnavigating Isola Bella to see the gardens from the boat. Stop briefly on Isola dei Pescatori also known as Isola Superiore with a population of 32, it is the only island to be inhabited all year round. Then you cruise around Isola Madre and return back to Stresa. Return to your hotel in time for dinner (extra) and overnight.

After a two hour journey, we stop at the magnificent cathedral dedicated to St. Alexander Neviski. This memorial church was built to the design of architect Pomerantsev from 1904 to 1912. It’s one of the finest pieces of the 20th century architecture in Sofia. Continue the tour with the Church of St. George, the Russian Church of St. Nicolas and the Synagogue. You will also see the building of the National Theatre, the mineral Baths of Sofia and the National Palace of Culture. Free time for lunch (Extra) followed by some shopping at the Serdika centre shopping mall.
