Liapades

where to stay

Gouvia

This village set on a large bay has long been a popular holiday resort, but it now has an added attraction- the island’s largest marina. One can find a large selection of bars and tavernas offering plenty of choice for visitors. Its position makes Gouvia an excellent centre for exploring the northern part of Corfu, whilst only being a short bus ride from the lovely old town of Corfu itself.

Kontokali

Kontokali is the ideal location away from it all. It is surrounded by lush gardens by the sandy beach which makes it the ideal location for pure relaxation.

Liapades

Liapades is a medium-sized village located on the northwest side of Corfu, 4km away from Palaiokastritsa. Liapades is situated on the sides of Kourkouli mountain, and spread right up to the North Valley.

Kanoni

From its circular terrace, Kanoni offers an amazing view across the island of Pontikoníssi (meaning Mouse Island), one of the most photographed spots of Corfu! According to the legend, this rocky islet was a Phoenician ship that was turned into stone.

Perama

Perama is a pretty village with plenty of bars and tavernas, backed by beautiful pine forests with a sand and shingle beach - ideal for beach lovers. The cosmopolitan Corfu Town is just a short bus ride away.

Gastouri Gastouri is a traditional village ten kilometres south of Corfu Town. It lies in the green hills with fantastic views. Gastouri is a huge tourist village because of the Palace of Achillion located here. Achillion is one of the most important monuments of Corfu. Gastouri is located in a very nice green area with some beautiful churches.

Benitses

Benitses is one of the old traditional villages of Corfu, at the east coast in the center of the island and only 12 kilometers south of Corfu Town. The main street offers the visitor every kind of stores – supermarkets, tourist shops, restaurants, cafes, bars etc

Messonghi

Messonghi is 21km to the south of Corfu Town. It has a selection of restaurants, shops, bars and a disco for evening entertainment and a sweep of coarse, shingle and sandy beach

Kavos

Kavos is the most southern holiday destination on the island. This lively resort is the place to be for the young and young at heart. The nightlife is the hallmark of Kavos, you cannot not mention it. The party in Kavos lasts all day, better to say it lasts all hours that tourists do not sleep, loud music, dancing and partying starting from the beaches during the day and in the evening are carried along the streets and bars which are playing music blaring and the nightclubs and streets become one.

FRIDAY

Corfu Town & Sea lion show

Transfer to Corfu port where we will sail with a glass bottom boat. Experienced divers will swim surrounded by fish, feed them and show us some of the strangest forms of life in the sea. Sea lions with their trainers perform a unique show. Then we will walk to town where we will have free time for leisure, shopping and time to explore Corfu’s cosmopolitan capital including a guided walking tour, with the Palace built by the Maltese stone, Saint Spiridion Church and Town Hall. On our return transfer will stop at Jumbo Mega Store for incredible bargains.

SATURDAY EVENING

Folklore Night

A fantastic night of entertainment renowned throughout Corfu. Eat & drink Greek style, watch dances from Corfu, (syrtaki, belly dancing & the famous Zorba the Greek). Feel the rhythm of solo syrtaki and get invited to dance. Three course meal included and unlimited local wine. A night not to be missed!

Transfer to Corfu port where we will have the chance to visit the tax free shop before our departure by boat to Albania - Saranda port (approx 70 minutes). Very important to have a valid passport for this excursion. A €10 per person immigration fee to be paid on the spot (extra). On arrival you will have the chance either to spend the day exploring Saranda town at your own leisure or to buy the guided coach excursion (extra) which will include a visit to the open market and the shopping centre with the local products and to see the famous Blue Eye Spring and the village of Karahatz with its luxurious restaurant Foinike for lunch (included). On the return transfer to Saranda for a short coffee break (extra) at Lekures Castle with the panoramic view to the Ionian Sea and Butriti Lake.

We start our tour with a visit to the Koum Kouat distillery and taste one of the island’s most famous products, the “Koum Kouat” liqueur, made from the citrus fruit. Then we will visit Paleokastritsa Monastery, which dominates the whole region and it offers a breathtaking view of the island and the sea below. Sail for 90 minutes along the east coast before crossing the Straits of Corfu and arriving at Kalamas, Greece mainland. We stay at this sandy beach for 2.5 hours and while waiting for your BBQ lunch you can swim, sunbathe or take part in various water sports (extra). Lunch consists of freshly barbecued chicken or pork souvlaki , Greek salad, tzatziki (a garlic yoghurt dip), bread, red or white wine, cola and water. Chania

Always the first thing you hear about Chania - the Venetian Harbour, the old port, the narrow shopping streets and waterfront restaurants. Chania is a beautiful city. It has a natural, privileged, well-protected beauty. Sleepless guardians to the south stand the gigantic Madares mountains in all their indestructible, panoramic glory. To the north stretches the multicoloured immensity of the Sea of Crete, embraced by its gorgeous, long-armed capes. And all around lies its land, scarlet and green-haired, sown with wild silver gorges.

Agia Marina

Agia Marina in Chania, is one of the largest touristy resort of Western Crete and located about 12km from Chania town. Agia Marina is built along a beautiful sandy beach and it is located on the main coastal road. Lots of restaurants, Greek taverns, bars, clubs and shops can be found in this area. It has an interesting nightlife and a peaceful village atmosphere at the same time! In Agia Marina village you can warm yourself with the Cretan sun and local hospitality.

KALAMAKI

Kalamaki is a nice resort surrounded with olive groves 7km west of Chania Town. The clean sand and the deep blue waters are some of the main characteristics that make the beach so popular. The beach is located between the village of Galatas. It is well-organized and quite popular due to the numerous taverns and bars which are located near by. In the west part of the beach, there is a small cove that divides the main beach with a narrow line of sand. There are buses running frequently from Chania Town.

Platanias

Platanias is located in west Crete, just 11km west of Chania. It is one of the most popular tourists resorts in Crete and is so close to Agia Marina that they have essentially merged into a single large resort. A busy nightlife, bars, restaurants, a large sandy beach and countless hotels along the seafront are the basic features of Platanias, the main tourist resort of Chania Prefecture.

Heraklion

Heraklion affords an ideal starting point for the visitor to explore the sights of the island. One can easily access via Heraklion the major holiday resorts of the island: places like Matalla, beautiful beaches of Agia Pelagia, the greenery of Arhanes also noisy Mallia and finally Hersonissos famous for its buzzing night life.

Maleme

Maleme is a village of Chania Crete, it is situated 16 kms from the town of Chania and it is submitted to Municipality of Platanias. Maleme village is well known for its history, the sightseeing, the clean and beautiful beaches and the tourism infrastructure.

Kolymbari

Kolymbari in Chania, is a small touristy resort of Western Crete and is located about 22km from Chania town and 30 km from the airport. Kolymbari village is located on the main coastal road. Kolymbari has few shopping stores, very good restaurants and tavernas and few cafes. Although it does not have a busy nightlife, you still can enjoy a peaceful village atmosphere. In Kolymbari village you can warm yourself with the Cretan sun and local hospitality.

STALOS

Stalos is located 7km west of Chania, between Kalamaki and Agia Marina. Like the wider area, Stalos is well developed and attracts a large number of visitors each summer. Kato Stalos, which is the coastal part of Stalos, has a fantastic sandy beach awarded every year with blue flag. Pano Stalos, located 150m souther, is a beautiful village, surrounded by green hills and amazing formations of rocks. It is close to the city of Chania and offers all necessary services to its visitors. There are also regular bus services to the city of Chania.

GERANI

The village of Gerani is quite a large village about 5kms west of Rethymnon, below the village there is a beautiful bay. Gerani is known for its small river and the caves located in the bay. The sandy beaches are about 2km further to the west and Episkopi beach about 6kms.

Samaria Gorge

Hiking tour (bus/on foot/boat) The narrowest part of the gorge. One of the most famous places to see on Crete is the Samaria Gorge, Europe’s largest gorge. This National Park is 18kms long with unbelievable natural beauty. The gorge is rich with many endemic flowers & herbs with crystal clear spring water flowing from the mountains. – you can even refill your water bottles with it! The average walking time through the Samaria gorge is 4-6 hours & is on a foot path with rocks & along the river bed. It is mostly downhill (particularly steep in the beginning) & then the final part is in the sun. Agia Roumeli village is where the walk ends & you can enjoy a swim in the Libyan Sea or have lunch one of the many tavernas. From here there is a ferry that takes you to Sougia, where the coach is waiting for you at the harbour & you drive back over the mountains to the north coast to the place where you were picked up.

Knossos Palace & Heraklion Town

A visit to Crete is not complete unless you have visited the magnificent Palace of Knossos - the legendary palace of King Minos. The Palace is 5 km south of Heraklion and dates back to 2000 BC. Excavated and partly restored by Sir Arthur Evans at the beginning of the century, Knossos gives a vivid picture of the prosperous and sophisticated capital of Minoan civilization. The intricate Palace is claimed by some to be the mythical labyrinth in which Theseus slew the Minotaur. You will have the services of a guide who will present the facts and legends of this incredible discovery. Then there is time to explore Heraklion city where you can go to the Archaeological Museum. Although part of it is closed for renovations for a few years, all the important items are on display in the temporary exhibition.

Gramvousa Island & Balos Lagoon

(COACH & BOAT- FULL DAY TOUR) The most beautiful sea water in North/west Crete. The voyage starts from the Port of Kissamos following the coastline on your way to Gramvousa Island. After approx. 1 hour sailing time you arrive at Gramvousa where you have time to visit the Venetian castle built between 1579 & 1584. Gramvousa nowadays is an importart bird habitat in the Eastern Mediterranean region and is located along one of the bird migration ways in this part of the world. It is the habitat of over 100 bird species and 400 kinds of plants. Built 137m above sea level on this rocky island, it is one of the most impressive castles in Crete and worth the 15 minute hike up the footpath. Upon your return to the beach you will have enough time to swim in the crystal clear waters, while a freshly cooked meal is being prepared on board. The boat then departs for the lagoon of Balos, the journey is approx 15 mins. As the water is very shallow here â&#x20AC;&#x201C; a small fishing boat takes you a short distance from the main boat to Balos Beach. The water is warm and the sand has pink coral in parts. The seabed has white sand and makes the water have a shiny jade-like colour. During your stay at Balos the boatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s halls and bar will be at your disposal. You will have ample time on the beach to explore, relax and swim.

Elafonissi Beach

The Carribean in the Mediterranean sea! This trip is great if you want to see quite a bit of Crete as well as the famous Elafonissi beach, which is located on the far south west tip of Crete. It is something which maybe you can find only in the Carribean sea! The coach takes you inland & makes a stop at the village of Kandanos, which has two Byzantine churches. The village buildings are almost entirely new, as this village was destroyed to the ground, by the Germans for its role in WWII. Today the village has several cafes & tavernas around the lovely square & most of the inhabitants are farming the surrounding land which has loads of olive groves. A few kilometres further on you arrive at Elafonissi beach around midday. You are free to rent a sun bed (extra) or wade across to the island. The return journey is via the west coast of Crete where you will stop at Amigdalokefali where there is a taverna serving local Cretan dishes if you want to have a proper meal (extra) & enjoy the sea views.
