The fantastical Sagrada Familia church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antonio Gaudi that dot the city are all within walking distance.

Saturday 24th November: Today, you will visit the French town of Marseille. Marseille, a port city in southern France, has been a crossroads of immigration and trade since its founding days. At its heart is the old Port, where fishmongers sell their catch along the boat-lined quay. Basilique NotreDame-de-la-Garde is a Romanesque-Byzantine church. Modern landmarks include Le Corbusier’s influential Cite Radieuse complex and Zaha Hadid’s CMA CGM Tower.

Thursday 6th December: Today, after breakfast, we encourage you to join the tour leader and an English speaking guide for a full day excursion to Powerscourt Estate and Gardens. Considered as the most beautiful gardens in Ireland for a very long time, this garden was also recently voted in the world’s top ten gardens by the National Geographic. The gardens stretch over 47 acres and offers all of its visitors a sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, statues, ornamental lakes, secret hallows and rambling walks. In fact it includes The Walled Garden, The Italian Garden, The Dolphin Pool, The Japanese Gardens, a pets cemetery and the Pepperpot Tower amongst other features and attractions. You can also avail yourself of some very particular Christmas shopping by visiting the Avoca shop which is within the same estate. Saturday 8th December: After breakfast, today, join the tour leader for a full day excursion to the Nuremberg Christmas Market and to the Ansbach Christmas Village. Start by making your way towards Ansbach. The towers of the two city churches frame the romantic Christmas market and a giant Christmas pyramid is the center piece of such market. Mulled wine and a traditional Ansbach bratwurst will make a perfect combination on a cool pre-Christmas day.

Later make your way to Nuremberg and let yourself be enchanted by the special and the festive atmosphere of the city. With its hundreds of years of history, the traditional market has to offer many things to do and enjoy.

Monday 10th December: Today after breakfast a full day excursion to Rothenburg and Wurzburg Christmas Markets awaits you. A visit to Rothernburg’s Reiterlesmarks is a must during the Advent period and every year, the medieval town of Rothenburg is transformed into a winter’s fairytale. As far back as the 15th century, Advent festivities have been accompanied by a wonderful Christmas market.

This market can look back on over 500 years of living heritage that has hardly changed a lot since its historic origins. Later head towards Wurzburg’s old town and one of Germany’s most picturesque and enchanting Christmas Markets that attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Christmas market’s tradition dates back to the early 19th century. The historic market square with its Gothic Chapel of St Mary and its abundance of Baroque architecture provide a scenic backdrop for almost 120 wooden stalls. Choose from handmade holiday decorations ranging from artful glass, straw, pewter and pottery to wooden toys.

Sunday 9th December: After breakfast, you are encouraged to join your tour leader for a marvelous full day excursion to Bayreuth and Bamberg Christmas Markets. During advent, Maximiliansplatz square in the pedestrian zone is transformed into a Christmas market, featuring among others, a large Franconian half-timber nativity scene depicting various scenes from the Christmas story. Later make your way towards Bayreuth. The Bayreuth Christmas markets is not just illuminated by any light, but by a 7-kilometerlong string of lights illuminating the old town and the Christmas market with a welcoming glow. About 50 stands offer Christmas treats and many great ideas for Christmas presents. The Christmas spirit is alive and well here; a feeling that gets reinforced by the visit

Tuesday 11th December: After breakfast and checkout, you are encouraged to join your tour leader for an excursion towards the Regensburg Christmas Market. The market on Neupfarrplatz is one of the most visited and popular Christmas markets in Regensburg. Besides the warm drinks, there is also quite the variety of food stands, especially for those who enjoy Wurst. One of the most eye catching is for sure the half-meter-long Feuerwurst. There also is no shortage of stands for nice gifts like homemade leather goods, pottery, ornaments, candles made from honey, or even soap made from sheep’s milk. In the afternoon, make your way back towards Nuremberg’s Airport for your direct flight back to Malta departing at 2030hrs.

Monday 10th December: Meet the tour leader at 0500hrs at the Malta International Airport for check-in on your direct Ryan Air flight to Krakow, Poland departing at 0700hrs. Upon arrival at 0940hrs, your private coach will head towards your 3* Hotel Atrium in central Krakow. Due to its central location, drop off location would be 200 meters away from the reception. Krakow, a southern Poland city near the border of the Czech Republic, is known for its well-preserved medieval core and Jewish quarter. Its old town – ringed by Planty Park and remnants of the city’s medieval walls – is centered on the stately, expansive Rynek Glówny also known as market square. Visit some of the most important places of interest including the History Museum for the Krakow Nativity Cribs Exhibition (entrance included). Tuesday 11th December: Join the tour leader for a full day excursion to Zakopane, a spectacular mountain paradise that boasts numerous attractions, breath-taking views, highland cultural heritage and unique architecture – all framed by the stunning Tatra mountains. This tour includes a visit to the picturesque village of Chocholaw and a return trip on the modern funicular up to the summit of Gubalowka Mountain. We will also have time to visit and participate in the highlanders Christmas market consisting of interesting regional stalls where many vendors offer a wide range of product, most notably local products, handmade souvenirs and the famous Oscypek cheeses. just outside Krakow, where you will have a unique opportunity not only to observe how baubles are made, but also decorate one of your choice, which you will be able to take home as a very unique and special Christmas souvenir. Return to Krakow for lunch (extra), before heading to the Wieliczka mines (entrance included) – Europe’s oldest salt mine that is still operational today and recognized

by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. With a three mile long guided tour of its chambers and corridors, all richly decorated with sculptures and figures, this is truly an unforgettable experience.

Thursday 13th December: Today, join your fellow group members for a trip to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Kraków-Łagiewniki. At its heart stands the chapel where the miraculous image of Merciful Jesus and the tomb of Sister Faustina are to be found. This small church, consecrated in 1891 and dedicated to St. Joseph, has since witnessed the prayer of the Apostle of The Divine Mercy and the extraordinary graces received by Sister Faustina. For this reason, the Lagiewniki Shrine became the centre of devotion to The Divine Mercy. Back in Krakow, you may opt to visit the Galeria Krakowksa which offers 60,000 square meters of retail temptation over three floors (extra) before dinner (extra) and overnight.

Casablanca

and New Year in Marrakech

Saturday 29th December: After breakfast a full day excursion to Rabat awaits you. Located on the Atlantic, Morocco’s political and administrative capital is also one of the so-called Imperial Cities. Visit the Kasbah Kasbah of the Udayas located at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river and then make your way toward the Mohammed V Mausoleum. During your free time visit the oldest part of the city with its hundreds of traditional shops and cafes that you can visit and explore. Late in the afternoon return to Casablanca for dinner (optional) and overnight.

Sunday 30th December: After breakfast and checkout, your private coach will embark on its route towards the city of Marrakech. Upon arrival at the 4* Blue Sea Primtemps Hotel. Check in and room allocation will follow. In the afternoon, join the tour leader for an afternoon horse drawn carriage tour. Such tour take you to the new quarters of Marrakech know as ‘Gueliz’ Visit the famous Majorelle Gardens and Yves Saint Laurent Museum before return transfer to the hotel.

As an old imperial capital, Marrakesh is a city steeped in ancient artistry that continues to thrive, kept alive by the modern craftspeople of the souqs and the contemporary art and design scene of the ville nouvelle. such tour with a visit to the most impressive Ali Ben Youssef Medersa and the Koutoubia minaret. Then head towards the Bahia Palace home to a riot of tilework and intricate floral painted-wood ceilings.

After lunch (extra) and some free time continue your way towards the medina. Wrapped within kilometres of powder-pink pisé ramparts, the medina is Marrakesh’s show-stopping sight of crowded souqs, where sheep carcasses swing from hooks next door to twinkling lamps, and narrow, doodling ochre-dusted lanes lead to nowhere. The main artery into this mazy muddle is the vast square of Djemaa El Fna, where it’s carnival night every night. Stroll between snail vendors, soothsayers, acrobats and conjurers, musicians and slapstick acting troupes to discover the old city’s frenetic pulse.

The party doesn’t end until the lights go out. Return to your hotel in time for a special New Year’s Eve Dinner (optional) and celebrations before overnight.

Tuesday 1st January: HAPPY NEW YEAR! Today, after a late breakfast, enjoy a relaxing day within Marrakech.

Enjoy the hotel amenities or head towards the medina by public transport (extra) and start this new year immersed in a different culture amidst vibrant colours, sounds and smells. Dinner (optional) back at the hotel and overnight.

Wednesday 2nd January: After breakfast join the tour leader for a trip to Essaouira. Known as the ‘Wind City of Africa’, it attracts plenty of windsurfers, but the majority of visitors come here to wander through the spice-scented lanes and palm-lined avenues of the fortified medina, browse the many art galleries and boutiques, relax in some of the country’s cafes and watch fishing nets being mended and traditional boats being constructed in the hugely atmospheric port.

Return to Marrakech in time for dinner (optional) and overnight.

The biggest Bulgarian spiritual center since the middle ages is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list and is located in a picturesque mountain area. The Rila Monastery was founded in the 10th century by St. John of Rila, a hermit canonized by the Orthodox Church. His ascetic dwelling and tomb became a holy site and were transformed into a monastic complex which played an important role in the spiritual and social life of medieval Bulgaria. Destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 19th century, the complex was re-built and houses a rich collection of icons and wall-paintings. Make your way back to Sofia for some shopping in one of the biggest malls before returning to your hotel in time for dinner (optional) and overnight.

Monday 31st December: Today join the tour leader for a visit to the city of Plovdiv. Just like Rome, Plovdiv straddles seven hills; but as Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited city, it’s far more ancient. It is best loved for its romantic old town, packed with colourful and creaky 19th-century mansions that are now house-museums, galleries and guesthouses. Car traffic is restricted in the centre, leaving the leafy banks of the emerald-green Ljubljanica River, which flows through the city’s heart, free for pedestrians and cyclists. Slovenia’s master of early-modern, minimalist design, Jože Plečnik, graced Ljubljana with beautiful bridges and buildings as well as dozens of urban design elements such as pillars, pyramids and lamp posts, which exist solely to make the city even prettier.

Visit Veszprem, the ancient city of the Hungarian queens and its famous castle district before making your way to Herend. The history of the town goes back into Roman times and is most

famous for its long tradition of excellent porcelain manufacturing. Later make your way towards the place with the greatest historical significance on Lake Balaton: Tihany. A peninsula which in itself is a nature reserve of hills and marshy meadows jutting 5km into the lake. Tihany village, perched on an 80m-high plateau along the peninsula’s eastern coast, is home to the celebrated Benedictine Abbey (entrance extra) and then wonder around the tiny town filled with lovely thatched-roof houses. In the early evening head back to the hotel in time to prepare for the evening New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner.

Surrounded by a classic crenellated wall, Óbidos’ gorgeous historic centre is a labyrinth of cobblestoned streets and flower-bedecked, whitewashed houses. Its atmospheric, beautiful historic core cascades down a hillside in a lovely setting on the east bank of the Rio Mondego. Coimbra is also famous as it is here that sister Lucia used to live in the Carmelite convent within the city. Later you will arrive in Porto for check in, room allocation, dinner and overnight.

Wednesday 13th February: After breakfast, join your English-speaking local guide for a full day excursion to the second largest Portuguese city. Porto, also known as ‘Invicta’ is reputable as the working horse city of Portugal.
