At its heart is the old Port, where fishmongers sell their catch along the boat-lined quay. Basilique NotreDame-de-la-Garde is a Romanesque-Byzantine church. Saturday 8th December: After breakfast, today, join the tour leader for a full day excursion to the Nuremberg Christmas Market and to the Ansbach Christmas Village. Start by making your way towards Ansbach. The towers of the two city churches frame the romantic Christmas market and a giant Christmas pyramid is the center piece of such market. Mulled wine and a traditional Ansbach bratwurst will make a perfect combination on a cool pre-Christmas day. Later make your way to Nuremberg and let yourself be enchanted by the special and the festive atmosphere of the city. With its hundreds of years of history, the traditional market has to offer many things to do and enjoy.
Monday 10th December: Today after breakfast a full day excursion to Rothenburg and Wurzburg Christmas Markets awaits you. A visit to Rothernburg’s Reiterlesmarks is a must during the Advent period and every year, the medieval town of Rothenburg is transformed into a winter’s fairytale. As far back as the 15th century, Advent festivities have been accompanied by a wonderful Christmas market. This market can look back on over 500 years of living heritage that has hardly changed a lot since its historic origins. Later head towards Wurzburg’s old town and one of Germany’s most picturesque and enchanting Christmas Markets that attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Christmas market’s tradition dates back to the early 19th century. The historic market square with its Gothic Chapel of St Mary and its abundance of Baroque architecture provide a scenic backdrop for almost 120 wooden stalls. Choose from handmade holiday decorations ranging from artful glass, straw, pewter and pottery to wooden toys.
Sunday 9th December: After breakfast, you are encouraged to join your tour leader for a marvelous full day excursion to Bayreuth and Bamberg Christmas Markets. During advent, Maximiliansplatz square in the pedestrian zone is transformed into a Christmas market, featuring among others, a large Franconian half-timber nativity scene depicting various scenes from the Christmas story. Later make your way towards Bayreuth. The Bayreuth Christmas markets is not just illuminated by any light, but by a 7-kilometerlong string of lights illuminating the old town and the Christmas market with a welcoming glow. About 50 stands offer Christmas treats and many great ideas for Christmas presents. The Christmas spirit is alive and well here; a feeling that gets reinforced by the visit
Tuesday 11th December: After breakfast and checkout, you are encouraged to join your tour leader for an excursion towards the Regensburg Christmas Market. The market on Neupfarrplatz is one of the most visited and popular Christmas markets in Regensburg. Besides the warm drinks, there is also quite the variety of food stands, especially for those who enjoy Wurst. One of the most eye catching is for sure the half-meter-long Feuerwurst. There also is no shortage of stands for nice gifts like homemade leather goods, pottery, ornaments, candles made from honey, or even soap made from sheep’s milk. In the afternoon, make your way back towards Nuremberg’s Airport for your direct flight back to Malta departing at 2030hrs.

Krakow, a southern Poland city near the border of the Czech Republic, is known for its well-preserved medieval core and Jewish quarter. Its old town – ringed by Planty Park and remnants of the city’s medieval walls – is centered on the stately, expansive Rynek Glówny also known as market square. Visit some of the most important places of interest including the History Museum for the Krakow Nativity Cribs Exhibition (entrance included). Tuesday 11th December: Join the tour leader for a full day excursion to Zakopane, a spectacular mountain paradise that boasts numerous attractions, breath-taking views, highland cultural heritage and unique architecture – all framed by the stunning Tatra mountains. This tour includes a visit to the picturesque village of Chocholaw and a return trip on the modern funicular up to the summit of Gubalowka Mountain. Return to Krakow for dinner (extra) and overnight. Thursday 13th December: Today, join your fellow group members for a trip to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Kraków-Łagiewniki. At its heart stands the chapel where the miraculous image of Merciful Jesus and the tomb of Sister Faustina are to be found. This small church, consecrated in 1891 and dedicated to St. Joseph, has since witnessed the prayer of the Apostle of The Divine Mercy and the extraordinary graces received by Sister Faustina. For this reason, the Lagiewniki Shrine became the centre of devotion to The Divine Mercy. Back in Krakow, you may opt to visit the Galeria Krakowksa which offers 60,000 square meters of retail temptation over three floors (extra) before dinner (extra) and overnight. Wrapped within kilometres of powder-pink pisé ramparts, the medina is Marrakesh’s show-stopping sight of crowded souqs, where sheep carcasses swing from hooks next door to twinkling lamps, and narrow, doodling ochre-dusted lanes lead to nowhere. The main artery into this mazy muddle is the vast square of Djemaa El Fna, where it’s carnival night every night. The biggest Bulgarian spiritual center since the middle ages is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list and is located in a picturesque mountain area. The Rila Monastery was founded in the 10th century by St. John of Rila, a hermit canonized by the Orthodox Church. His ascetic dwelling and tomb became a holy site and were transformed into a monastic complex which played an important role in the spiritual and social life of medieval Bulgaria. Destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 19th century, the complex was re-built and houses a rich collection of icons and wall-paintings. Make your way back to Sofia for some shopping in one of the biggest malls before returning to your hotel in time for dinner (optional) and overnight. Monday 31st December: Today join the tour leader for a visit to the city of Plovdiv. Just like Rome, Plovdiv straddles seven hills; but as Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited city, it’s far more ancient. It is best loved for its romantic old town, packed with colourful and creaky 19th-century mansions that are now house-museums, galleries and guesthouses.
