Rice Tales Website Re-Design Proposal


Rice Tales has high quality in store advertising. Currently the walk-in experience provides the consumer with an informative pamphlet, a colorful storefront, and fast, friendly service. My proposal is to bring an efficient experience to the web as well as project Rice Tales corporate identity and branding image on the internet. Rice Tales website was designed when there was only one location open for business. Now that Rice Tales has evolved and matured; a website redesign will reflect this growth. With the increase in nutritional information on demand, a website redesign is appropriate and will help achieve an increase in sales, and brand name recognition.

Current Homepage Analysis The content on the home page is important and could use a visual stimulation to make it more readable and intriguing. The webpage does lack clear navigation for web standards which can be improved by labeling buttons and directing the user in the right direction.

Current Visual Layout ďżź Visual layout concerns the different types of content that a webpage contains and where that content is located. Content areas define functions of a website. Rice Tales current visual layout contains three content areas: Navigation, Community, and Informational. In the current layout, the three content areas have equal visual “weight:â€?. Importance on content is not emphasized.

Current Site Navigation Site navigation concerns how viewers locate and move from one content area to another. ricetales. com needs labels and higher priority placed on the navigational system. The world is going mobile, the public wants to know whats on the menu before they get to the restaurant. If there is an easily accessible, easy to navigate website available the storefront would get more traffic in the store. More traffic creates more revenue.


Contact Information

Users need to conveniently find the contact information no matter which page they are on. Having repetitive links on a page makes it easy for users to get a hold of the franchise and not give up due to a lack of information. If the information is placed clearly, the franchise will have an increase in incoming emails.

Proposed Homepage Redesign The proposed site navigation has clear, concise tabs, directing the user appropriately. The homepage outlines the companies values, goals and virtues. There is a link between the promotional flyer’s tied in with this new design. The colors and images bring the brand into clear focus. The content is well organized and easy to read. Separate headings for information helps the page be more visually pleasing. The benefits of this redesign are that the content is clear, easy to read, easy to find and easy to contact. Websites are not static entities; they need to evolve to meet the needs of a growing business. While Rice Tales current website has functioned admirably thus far, a redesign will reflect Rice Tales growth and maturity. This is an opportunity to enhance marketing and increase traffic. By more prominently displaying products on the homepage and throughout internal pages, viewers will clearly see the magic of Rice Tales. Rice Tales is also trying to generate more storefronts by selling the franchise. A clean and professional website will draw in potential Franchise owners. Potentially in the future, the website could be used as a tool to communicate among franchise owners.

Qualifications and Experience I understand how website design relates to user experience and product sales. I have marketing experience, graphic design experience paired with technical web design experience.

With Search Engine Optimization integrated into the site, it will be easy to find Rice Tales for the consumer.
