“There Came a Day…”

There came this day and he was Autumn, His mouth was wide, And red as a sunset, His tail was an icicle. Ted Hughes

Meteorologically, autumn begins on September 1st and ends November 30th. Astronomically, autumn in the northern hemisphere begins at the autumnal equinox when the length of our day and night are equal; this is so over the en re planet, give or take a minute or two here and there. This phenomenon occurs because around the 21st of September and 21st of March our Earth appears as if it is at right angles, i.e. upright, rela ve to our Sun. So, on those dates, as it spins, every part of the surface receives 12 hours of light and dark. Throughout the rest of the year more or less of each hemisphere is presented to the Sun due to our axis being at 23 degrees from the ver cal. It is our season of mists and mellow frui ulness. To the cynics, op mists and pessimists in equal measure it will soon be Christmas! This passing of the seasons, the waymarkers of the year, give an opportunity to reflect, take stock and examine. For some it’s me for life or career changes. We lose one of our longest serving adver sers with this issue; Paul and Yvonne of Cyclops are re ring and we bid them a fond farewell on page 28. Another of our longestrunning adver sers is having a few months out of print as he takes on a long term contract and can’t handle anymore work. We’ll see you next year Richard Watson, happy pain ng! But we say hello to The Independent Traveller of Loughborough, on page 43, Sleeping Petals on page 55, The Kegworth Kitchen, page 47, Winsons Coaches page 23, Simon Hewi Joinery on page 18 and Mobility Rescue on page 41. Welcome to our pages. Grace Dieu return with a double page spread announcing their new Day Nursery on the centre pages and we also welcome back Alan Postlethwaite and his daughter Maxime, of HS Foot Care Services who have become our latest expert feature writers on page 39. So, we hope you enjoy our autumn pages and all the life and business they contain. We’ll see you afore the Sols ce, nice and early for Christmas!

Amazing Alliums

The spherical blooms of Alliums are definitely one of my favourite bulbs; a member of the onion family, they are grown for their showy flower heads. Easy to grow they thrive in a sheltered, sunny and well drained posi on. They are brilliant for bringing pollina ng insects into your garden and they make great cut flowers too. If I had to grow just one variety it would have to be ‘Purple Sensa on’; at around 3 it towers airily above border perennials that are yet to reach their crescendo and it is also rela vely inexpensive. They are best planted in groups of at least five, or try weaving them along the length of a border. So, if you are looking to bring some pizzazz to your borders next year, treat yourself to some Alliums this autumn. Claire Jones

Alan Dayman’s Garden

‘Waste not organic materials from the house or garden and want not for compost’ is a maxim well worth following. Compost, when ro ed down, will improve and maintain your soil by adding humusforming ma er, plant foods and beneficial bacteria. As a compost heap is not par cularly sightly, it’s best situated in the working part of the garden and screened from the house. An ideal site is beneath a tree. The best size to aim for is about three feet deep and four and a half feet wide allowing for three feet in height. It pays to prepare: first, dig a shallow pit about six inches deep, placing the soil to one side to use later. Put a layer of broken bricks and stones mixed with woody stems, cabbage and sprout stalks and straw. This helps with drainage and allows for air penetra on. Wire ne ng bin

Page 14

Turf, landscaping materials, bark chippings

You are now ready to compost. Layer 1 should be organic material to a depth of about six inches. Layer 2 should be a compost accelerator, such as Westland Garo a, and layer 3 is a one inch layer of the soil you dug out in the beginning. Repeat these layers un l you get to the top.

Slo ed wooden bin with loose boards at the front

Follow these simple rules for successful compos ng: 1. Always be sure that each layer of organic material is well firmed down but not too ghtly compressed. 2. Mix grass cu ngs with other plant material to prevent it forming a soggy mass. 3. Check from me to me to make sure your heap is moist, water if it’s dry. 4. Finish the heap with a one to two inch layer of top soil. There are a number of compost bin op ons available through the Leicestershire Waste Partnership.

I campaigned hard both locally and na onally for a Remain vote. I’m sorry that we weren’t successful but we have a clear result which it is up to the Bri sh Government to implement in a way which arrives at the best possible se lement for the Bri sh people. I’d like to thank all those who have contacted me about this, whichever side of the debate they are on. Brexit will now be a huge focus for all MPs and Parliament once we are back in session a er the summer recess. As a result of the vote we also now have a new Prime Minister, Theresa May and I am sure she will do an excellent job. I am disappointed not to be con nuing as Educa on Secretary and Minister for Women and Equali es. They were roles I loved doing and I wish my successor the best of luck. One of the most disrup ve local events over the summer has surely been the par al collapse of the bridge in Barrow on Soar over the Midland Mainline. I know that Network Rail con nue to inves gate the cause of the collapse and work to rec fy the situa on. They are planning to hold a local event in the not too distant future to answer residents’ ques ons. They did however manage to open the lines as quickly as it was safe to do so and I was grateful for their swi response to queries raised with us. Finally it was a pleasure to a end the opening night of the newly revamped Three Crowns pub in Wymeswold recently. The bar and the new outside area were packed and the pizzas looked delicious!

Avoid Costly Mistakes when Buying a Property Purchasing a property, whether as your home or as an investment, is one of the most expensive purchases you can make. Here are 5 top ps to think about: 1. Do your homework: Firstly consider the area you would like to buy a property in; then use the Internet and local estate agents to familiarise yourself with the type of proper es and prices within the area. There are also useful websites that can help you iden fy UK house price comparisons, crime and environmental sta s cs and local schools. Consider proximity to work, rela ves, child care, gyms, sports facili es you use regularly, and public transport. 2. If you’re applying for a mortgage, think carefully whether you can comfortably make the monthly repayments – then calculate what those repayments would be if interest rates increased several percentage points. Could you s ll comfortably afford the mortgage payments or would you be in difficulty? If so, speak to your

financial advisor and perhaps consider a cheaper property or saving for a larger deposit and a smaller loan. 3. Carefully choose a firm to undertake your conveyancing work and give the estate agent those details. Can friends recommend anyone they have used? Call and speak to the firm to see if they sound friendly, interested and efficient. 4. Make sure you know which items will come with the property, what will be removed and what you will need to buy in addi on. If you par cularly want an item to remain or be removed, you can nego ate this. 5. If you are buying the property jointly speak to your conveyancer about how you should own the property and, if necessary, in what propor ons. And finally, sort out your Wills! If you are purchasing a property call our Residen al Conveyancing Quote line on 01509 635445 and we will be happy to provide you with a personalised quota on.

Farewell Cyclops

I remember the first me I visited Paul & Yvonne at their shop on Melton Road, Syston, in the summer of 2012. We needed a cycle shop adver sement, to accompany an ar cle about the new cycle route into Leicester via Watermead Park, and they happily agreed to a half page advert for two months. Over the last four years I’ve called in every couple of months or so to check if they’d like to readver se and Cyclops has appeared in every issue up to now. Every me I visit I receive the warmest of welcomes while Watson, their old Basset Hound, checks me out with a sniff before returning to his slumber. We swap stories about our families and what we’ve been up to. I’ve seen the bikes and stock change with the seasons and I’ve always received a happy smile and welcome. But, not any more, alas. A er 16 years in the saddle, so to speak, Paul and Yvonne are re ring and are off to enjoy the cycle ways at their leisure. I shall miss our li le chats, but enjoy your freedom you lovely people Mary and I wish you a long and happy re rement.

Case Study from Nathan Wheeler LSR me being coached 7 months

Most business owners can benefit from focusing on the areas of Time, Team and Money and Nathan was no different. His 8 year old business had stagnated. Time Nathan was working 6 days a week and constantly plagued by calls and e mails that he 'simply must take' now. Life was hec c and stressful. Nathan now works 4 days for 6 hours in his business and one day on his busness a week. His call and e mails traffic is now moderate. Team Nathan's team were a great bunch but lacked clarity of understanding, direc on and worked with li le direct control but were always 'SO BUSY' working at 25% capacity as it happened.. . His team now operate at 70% efficiency and are much happier demonstra ng innova on and fantas c customer service.

Money Nathan's monthly run rate was circa £20k per month and had been for a while. Annual profit £60k His run rate is now £54k per month (with the same team) with annual profit projected at £323k. His referral strategy has just landed him a £180k contract. So does coaching work? Ask Nathan… Laurence Duncan is The Ac on Coach for Leicestershire and his contact details are on his advert above.

A Fine Start in Life! A new Day Nursery opens at Grace Dieu Manor School, providing care for children from 12 weeks to 4 years. Grace Dieu Manor School has seen many exci ng and innova ve changes over the last 18 months. The Governors and Headmaster, in consulta on with local parents, ins tuted an ambi ous Development Plan... A new onsite Day Nursery was a key part of the plan offering an all through educa on at Grace Dieu from 12 week old babies up to the age of 11. The new Nursery will enrich the exis ng care provision at Grace Dieu and is a direct response to the needs of current parents and wider local community. Children a ending the Nursery (and their parents) will have the opportunity enjoy the excep onal facili es and benefits of Grace Dieu Manor School. The Nursery is being led and managed by Mrs Dexter, an outstanding Early Years and Founda on Stage Prac oner who has a wealth of talent and experience. Mrs Dexter has worked in and managed Grace Dieu PrePreparatory Department for many years and is a member of the Grace Dieu Senior Management Team. The School itself begins a new phase in its history: pupils will enjoy a Crea ve Curriculum which includes Outdoor Learning, Spanish, Sport, Music and Drama, all within the unique environment set within 120 acres of rolling Leicestershire farmland.

Page 32

A drone camera prepares to zoom in on Grace Dieu Manor School

Before wri ng a piece for one of our adver sers I, Steve, research as much as I can about them. Besides referring to notes I’ll have made at our mee ng, I read their brochures, look at their website, Google them and so on. I love this part of my job, learning about new organisa ons, new to me at least, and understanding what it is they do and how they may be doing things differently. I have visited Grace Dieu Manor School on a number of occasions over the last few years, and have come to know some of the staff and quite a bit about the school. At every contact I have been welcomed with a smile and the utmost courtesy. Si ng down to write this ar cle led me to their website, which is very informa ve indeed. But I have just clicked on a video link on the right hand side of the home page and been blown away! It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words this video has to be worth a thousand mes a thousand words. It’s four minutes and twenty two seconds long,

there’s no dialogue, just an aerial video filmed by a drone with cap ons. It shows pupils engaged in all manner of ac vi es cricket, gymnas cs, play, walks through the trees, football, learning through ac vity, seamlessly panning in and out of an aerial tour of the amazing house and grounds of Grace Dieu Manor School, which was built in the 1830s. I watched it first with no sound. Although informa ve it’s mostly just snapshots, but turn the sound on and up and it comes to life. The soundtrack is the complete Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel one of the most famous and most played pieces of classical music of all me. It could have been wri en just for this video. So, never mind me droning on, go and have a look at it for yourself, see what a thousand mes a thousand words can do, and if you dare, turn the sound right up. Here’s the link to go directly to the video: h p://gracedieu.com/aerialtour/ Or you can go to it via their website at: www.gracedieu.com

Flashes & Floaters What are Floaters? Floaters appear as black spots or something that looks like a hair or small piece of cobweb. These can be semitransparent or dark and appear to float in front of your vision. If you have had these for years, your eye and brain learn to ignore them. Some mes the number of floaters increase as you get older. Occasionally an increase in floaters can be a sign of problems inside the eye. Why do Floaters occur? Some people are born with floaters. Other floaters occur as you get older when the jelly in your eye (vitreous humour) naturally shrinks. The gel separates into a watery fluid and collagen fibrils. The small fibrils are seen as lineshaped floaters. Who is at Risk of Floaters? More common in shortsighed people or a er an eye opera on such as cataract surgery, or laser treatment a er cataract surgery. What might happen if I have Floaters? Most of the me floaters are harmless. They can

be annoying, but treatment is not advised. Occasionally a sudden increase in floaters, either one or more large ones or a shower of ny ones may be a sign of a more serious disease such as a re nal detachment. This is when your re na pulls away from the back of your eye and may cause a shadow in your vision. This needs immediate a en on. If you no ce these symptoms, you should see you optometrist urgently. What are Flashes? Some mes the gel can pull on your re na when it shrinks. If this happens you would see this as flashes of light – like small sparkles, lightning or fireworks. If the flashing con nues, it may be a sign of a re nal detachment. Who is at risk of a Re nal detachment? • Shortsighed over 3.00D • Family history of re nal detachment • Previous eye injury • Eye surgery such as cataract opera on • Of age greater than 50

Diabe c Foot Care Introducing our Foot Health Experts Alan and Maxime Postlethwaite in their Podiatry Clinic on Halstead Road, Mountsorrel

We are very pleased to introduce you to Alan Postlethwaite and his daughter Maxime who are the Podiatrists at HS Foot Care Services and have kindly agreed to share their Podiatry advice and exper se through this column over the coming months. Foot care amongst diabe cs is incredibly important as foot related complica ons are common. Foot ulcers for example, which affect as many as 1 out of 10 people with diabetes, can all too easily develop from blisters and small wounds to posing a threat of amputa on.

The presence of high blood glucose levels over a long period of me may result in a condi on called ‘Peripheral Neuropathy’ (damage to the nerves) or loss of circula on in the extremi es of the body. If the nerves in your feet or legs are damaged, your feet can become numb or less sensi ve. It is rela vely common for people with diabetes to not feel foot problems un l they have developed, therefore it is key to ensure you have regular foot examina ons. For example, blisters, burns and cuts can happen to anyone but if you suffer from nerve damage you may not feel the pain. It may not be easy to spot nerve damage as it comes on very gradually; this is partly why regular foot examina ons are important and our ini al assessments include these checks. You can help yourself in the following ways: • Self examina on (with prompt ac on) • Regular professional check ups • Avoid smoking • Good foot hygiene • Good glycaemic control • Avoid foot trauma We specialise in ‘At Risk’ foot care

It’s not what you eat it’s the way that you eat it Well that’s not quite true, but you do need to eat healthy unprocessed food, preferably organic, to avoid harmful pes cides. However, ea ng healthily is not enough to keep the gut working efficiently. When you consider that 80% of the immune system is in the gut, it makes sense to look a er it; not only does it help the body to func on properly but it also helps to keep the body healthy and free of disease. The very best way to eat is to eat mindfully while seated at the table with no distrac ons. Relax and enjoy your food. Take small mouthfuls and chew each mouthful slowly at least 30 mes. This is important as a large part of the diges ve process takes place in the mouth. Make sure you don’t drink for at least 15 minutes before a meal and not un l an hour a erwards as this can interfere with the diges ve juices. Try doing this for at least a week and see the difference it makes to your energy levels, your mood and your health. Paula Reed

Simply Stunning SOUTH AFRICA The Independent Traveller has been working in South Africa for close to 40 years and locally has unrivalled knowledge and exper se. The ques on we are always asked: ‘Is it safe to travel in South Africa?’. That being the case let’s deal with it straight away.

• Kynsna the centre of the Garden Route and home to 4 of the best of many great golf courses along the way • Hermanus the home of the world’s best land based whale watching

Like all overseas des na ons you should always exercise care and at mes cau on; mainly as you are o en unfamiliar with the local customs and tradi ons. The writer has travelled extensively across the whole country and always been treated with courtesy, kindness and a warm welcome.

Steve, the editor of Soar Valley Life, being very fond of whales, has asked that I explain why the whales are there – he says he would expect to see lions!

Most UK visitors will start their South Africa Experience by visi ng Cape Town and the Garden Route. This area has been a strong favourite with the UK for years and it is easy to see why. Cape Town, which has been voted as one of the top ten ci es in the world to visit, is the gateway to the Garden Route, itself a whole plethura of unique experiences such as: • The winelands producing some of the world’s best wines • Outshoorn home of the Meerkats as seen on the David A enborough programmes on BBC • Outshoorn home of Cango Caves and Ostriches • Graff Reinet home of the best Cape Dutch buildings and the Valley of Desola on

The Southern Right whales (pictured above) arrive from Antarc ca in Hermanus each year around the beginning of August and the last finally depart in early December. They leave the rigors of Antarc ca to rest, mate and calve in the sheltered waters of Walker Bay/ Hermanus. Whale sigh ngs are the norm not the excep on and the Town Crier is con nually heard ringing the bell with yet another whale sigh ng. Want to know more? Pop into our office where we have been for the last 18 years adjacent to the Ca le Market Car Park in Loughborough. The coffee pot is always on and we would love to share our experiences with you. See you soon!

Walking Trentlock

This page sponsored by

Walk instruc ons 31/2 Miles 13/4 Hours Postcode of the Trent Lock pub is NG10 2FY, the grid ref is SK489312, the pub is close to the River Trent at the end of Lock Lane, off the B6540 in Sawley, south of Long Eaton. This walk is very simple to follow, there are no illustra ons un l nearly point 4 and it is basically along the River Trent and back. Use the car park at Trentlock (also commonly spelt as Trent Lock, I use the first version as that is what Ordnance Survey use on their maps). Toilets, 2 pubs and tearoom. 1 Go past the pub to the River Trent and turn right, with the river to the le , all the way to the railway bridge and go underneath to the footbridge on the le . 2 Cross the bridge over the river and turn right, past the lock and up to the road (B6540). Turn right along the roadside path, back over the Trent, to the signpost on the right. 3 Turn right, through the kissing gate. The path bears right, then le along a low embankment, go through two metal kissing gates and con nue, s ll on the embankment. Go through the arch, under the railway and keep direc on over a s le and up a wide enclosed track. Bear le , right of Grounds Farm, through a wide gate and over a s le.

4 Keep ahead, with the hedge le and the golf course to the right, beware of golf balls! Join the hard stony track ahead with the hedge s ll le and carry on along the embankment right of the car park. Blood Spots These bright red blemishes, also known as Cherry Angioma or Campbell de Morgan Spots, do not blanch when pressure is applied. They are caused by leaking blood vessels under the skin and while most are flat to the surface of the skin, larger ones can be domed and can even feel quite fibrous to the touch. More common in men than women and tending to increase with age, they can occur anywhere on the body though

they are most commonly found on the torso. Younger people can also have them and teenagers may find them par cularly embarrassing as they can be very obvious on younger, fairer skin. Small ones can be amazingly easy to remove, using advanced electrolysis, as a single leaking capillary can be treated in a ma er of seconds. Larger ones can take a li le longer but the blemish is normally completely removed with a single treatment. Pennie Blatchford

And Another Thing... by Tom Hughes Follow Tom on Twi er @groomsdaybook

At 8am on Saturday morning, I awoke to the prospect of a blissful day spent pleasing no one but Yours Truly. Such is the joy of having grown up kids no more gymnas cs, swimming or football prac ce hurrah! So, what to do? A stroll round the park with Olly, my faithful hound? A trip to the corner shop to splurge four quid on a ream of newsprint? A long leisurely morning in the kitchen crea ng my signature dish jambon et oeuf bu e à la sauce tomate? Unfortunately, my hopes for the perfect Saturday morning were dashed by my dearly beloved Sarah, who had the answer for which I hadn’t been searching: “Tom, are we finally going to clear out that garage?” Knowing that resistance was useless, I peered through the dusty gloom and began yanking old bikes, boxes of records and other long forgo en bricabrac from the darkest recesses of the garage. Then my eureka moment: “Sarah I’ve had a brilliant idea and don’t look at me like that let’s take this lot to the car boot sale!” Realising that the car boot bee was firmly stuck in my entrepreneurial bonnet, Sarah reluctantly agreed and so, with the Mondeo Ghia packed to the gunwales with twenty years of dedicated hoarding and with my wallpaper paste board firmly secured on the roof rack, we headed off to a dusty farmer’s field located somewhere in the neighbouring parish. In very short order I had set out my stall. Sylvanian houses to my le , fondue set to my right, golf shoes (worn once) in the middle. And so, with my thermos gently steaming, we waited for the hordes of bargain hunters to descend. Eventually a wizened old

Page 46

dear, nearly bent over double, shuffled up to our makeshi emporium. She ra led one of my Tupperware containers (helpfully marked odds and sods) as I craned my neck in an a empt to catch her dri . “How much for this zip?” she enquired. I examined the dusty old fastener. “Err, that par cular item, madam, is five pence.” “Is that your best price?” “Yes.” “I’ll leave it thanks.” As the ancient shopper shuffled away, Sarah began tes ly rearranging her gnomes. “Tom, If we’d just gone to the p we’d be home by now.” “Did you know Lord Sugar began on a market stall?” Just then I spo ed a mature gentleman spor ng a handlebar moustache and wearing a ta y blue blazer surrep ously rifling through my collec on of 45s (for anyone born a er 1986, 45s are small plas c discs which when placed on a turntable produce music). I observed him as he carefully examined the soundtrack of my youth. Then he paused, replaced the discs in the cardboard box, and as his fingers danced gently across the dog eared covers said, “How much do you want for this lot?” Giddy with the expecta on of my first sale, I was just about to announce the very reasonable figure of a tenner when Sarah stepped forward and said, “Twenty five please.” Fearful of losing the deal I decided to give the old chap some encouragement. “But we will take less!” As the gentlemen wandered off Sarah glared at me and said, “By

the way, I’ve put your applica on for The Appren ce in the bin.” “You scared him off with that ridiculous price!” As the argument con nued Mr Handlebar reappeared and asked, “Will you take twenty?” Suddenly, the thought of my precious collec on falling into the hands of this chancer had me incensed. Searching around the market for support I yelled, “Twenty quid? For this collec on? Are you trying to insult me? Twenty!?” “Tom, we’re not in a Souk. Take the money and shut up.” As the clouds gathered we packed up and headed home, a total of £37.18 to the good. The following week I was si ng quietly enjoying Bargain Hunt when Sarah plopped the local rag into my lap. “Recognise him?” She pointed to an ar cle en tled ‘Local Collector Unearths Rare Madonna Imported Single’. “I knew there was something dodgy about that moustache!” “What I’m more worried about is the thought of a teenage Tom prancing around his bedroom singing along to ‘Holiday’.” And so the happy memories of a gilded youth recede just a li le further into the distance...

Pets Page Microchipping your dog New legisla on has made it compulsory to have your dog microchipped if it is eight weeks old or over. The government’s aim in introducing the new rules from 6th April 2016 is to relieve the pressure on local authori es and animal welfare chari es to care for lost dogs.

The legisla on also encourages responsible pet ownership, and helps to protect dogs in society generally. Microchipping your dog will make it easier for you to be reunited should they be lost or stolen, as your contact details are placed on an approved database. How does microchipping work? A ny electronic chip is implanted under your dog’s skin, between the shoulder blades. It contains a unique number which correlates with your contact details, so it’s important to make sure that these are up to date. Microchipping doesn’t hurt your dog, and no anaesthe c is needed. It can be carried out by a vet, in pet retail outlets, re homing centres, or via charity organisa ons such as Dogs Trust who carry out the procedure free of charge.

What if your dog isn’t microchipped? If you don’t microchip your dog you risk a fine of £500, and even criminal prosecu on in some cases. You’ll receive a warning no ce giving you 21 days in which to comply. Dog wardens and other enforcers including community support officers have the right to seize your dog and make sure it is microchipped, and to reclaim the cost from you later. It’s also a requirement under the new legisla on that your contact details are kept up to date on the approved database. h p://www.petplan.co.uk/ microchipdoglawinfo/ h ps://www.dogstrust.org.uk/ helpadvice/ microchipping/ microchippingfaqpage

“Do not Stand at my Grave and Weep…” Each of us will face the loss of a loved one at some stage in our lives. A er the ini al devasta on and shock of the passing, when the business of the funeral is over, when all the flowers have faded and the ground begins to se le once more, what then?

individual ways to profess love and respect to those that have died. But most of us lack the ability and the skills to transfer this inspira on into something tangible and las ng beyond a headstone, the occasional bunch of flowers, and a wreath at Christmas. Help is at hand.

The weeks turn into months, life gradually regains a new normality and we visit the res ng place less o en; although we wrestle with feelings inside that we should be doing something to remember them. On a na onal scale it is this human ins nct which adopted the immortal phrase ‘Lest we forget…’ with the poppy as a symbol of remembrance. Millions of us buy a poppy and wear it with pride each November in respect for those who died in the fight to preserve and maintain our way of life. So how best to remember those we have loved when it’s someone close? Mum, Dad, husband, wife, brother, sister, son, daughter…? Flowers die all too soon, especially when there’s no one to tend them. We move on, or even move away from where they rest. These ques ons have been asked by the bereaved down the ages, quite likely since the dawn of humanity. In preChris an mes a cairn (pile of stones) marked a gravesite so that the dead could be found again and remembered. It’s likely that flowers and wreaths made from leaves were placed at these burial sites although we

Page 54

have no evidence that remains. But research has shown us that the first Chris an gravestones, like the Cel c cross pictured here, appeared in Ireland, introduced in the fi h century AD by St Patrick. St Patrick used the three leaves of the shamrock to describe the Trinity and it is thought that he may have used the Cel c sun god to describe one of the a ributes of the Chris an god, represented by the circle through the cross. Visit a nondenomina onal cemetery today and you will find all manner of gravestones made from all types of materials. You’ll also see an ever growing variety of ways we remember and pay tribute to our nearest and most dear. I think It demonstrates the evolu on of expression of the human spirit and the rich crea vity of imagina ons that need to find
