A Storied Career Spanning More Than Two Decades

The academic road to becoming a general surgeon is a long one and involves many years of postgraduate training. After graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Dr. Saggi completed his general surgery residency at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Next up was a surgical fellowship at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Providing Treatment for a Wide Range of Conditions
Dr. Saggi treats diseases of the chest, abdomen, breast, endocrine system and digestive system for both benign disease and cancer, as well as for emergent conditions. He is trained in using minimally invasive and robotic
techniques for the surgical management of most of these
diseases. Dr. Saggi evaluates patients personally and
orders the appropriate diagnostic tests to individually
tailor care and provide guidance on the need for surgery.
Conditions Dr. Saggi treats include:
• General & oncologic (cancer) surgery • Hernia surgery, complex and routine • GI/colorectal & gallbladder surgery • Pancreas, liver & bile duct surgery • Breast surgery, cancer & benign disease • Thyroid & adrenal surgery • Thoracic surgery • Dialysis access surgery for patients with kidney failure • MIS/Robotics for most of the above

Enhanced Control with Robotic Surgery
Whenever possible, Dr. Saggi uses minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery.
South Texas Heath System Edinburg is the first medical facility south of San Antonio to use the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System. This advanced technology allows surgeons like Dr. Saggi to perform complex procedures with great precision through small incisions. And while the da Vinci Surgical System is “robotic”, the surgeon is 100% in control.
Benefits to the patient may include:
• Decreased risk of infection • Reduced pain and trauma to the body • Reduced loss of blood during the procedure • A faster recovery time
Dedicated and compassionate, Dr. Saggi is with his patients every step of the way, from diagnosis through recuperation.
He has been a resident of the Rio Grande Valley for many years and considers this community his home.
