Edinburg Prepares for Storm Season

With hurricane season underway, the City of Edinburg hosted a Joint Regional Hurricane Preparedness Press Conference at Edinburg City Hall in conjunction with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Hidalgo County, Texas A&M Agri-Life, and the cities of McAllen, Mission, and Pharr.

This multi-jurisdictional collaboration provided residents with crucial information about their cities’ disaster response plans, past experiences, and available resources before and after a hurricane strikes.

Following the media conference, a live cooking demonstration hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Hidalgo County Judge’s Office was held to show the community how to safely prepare food if they find themselves without power. County Judge Richard Cortez, KRGV Chief Meteorologist Tim Smith, and Edinburg Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. participated in the demonstrations by preparing meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
