Edinburg Mayor Hosts His Inaugural Prayer Breakfast

In an effort to emphasize the value of collaboration and faith in the City of Edinburg and across the Rio Grande Valley, Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. hosted his first ‘Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast’ on Wednesday, May 31, at the Region One Education Service Center.

The unifying event brought together community leaders, residents, and faith-based organizations. The breakfast also provided a platform for reflection and inspiration as attendees joined in prayer for community, unity, healing, and peace.

The event featured readings by faith leaders, and Edinburg North High School Band Director Chad Dempsey delivered the keynote address, inspiring attendees with his message of embracing positivity in the midst of adversity. Dempsey was also named a City of Edinburg Hometown Hero this year and ECISD’s 2023 Secondary District Teacher of the Year.
