Consider Making NatureMinded Resolutions
By Colleen Hook, Executive Director, Quinta Mazatlan
Happy 2024! A new year means a fresh start to focus on the health and well-being of yourself, your family, and your environment. We hope your list includes spending more time in nature with your family. The benefits are many, from physical and mental health to just plain fun, and you never know who will cross your path. Here are some nature-minded suggestions for you to enjoy this year!
Go On a Nature Hike Once a Month
The historic Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen is surrounded by nature trails and is home to many beautiful birds. In addition to Wild Walks, join the Speaker Series Talks, Yoga, and Tai Chi in the Park!
Explore other nature centers, including the nine World Birding Center sites, Santa Ana NWR, Laguna Atascosa NWR, and more outdoor excursions in the Rio Grande Valley.

Small Sustainable Actions
Small actions can have a big impact when it comes to helping preserve our planet’s natural resources. Consider ways to reduce your use of plastic and other single-use items.
Start a recycling program at your office. About 75% of what we throw away can be recycled, so we could make a huge difference by recycling. Encourage everyone by providing plenty of highly visible, clearly marked recycling containers. Begin with recycling paper and cardboard, as these make up one-quarter of all trash in the U.S. Recycling paper is the easiest way your business can do its part for the environment.
