ailed as “the true poet of clothing,” Marit Ilison is a multi-disciplinary artist and fashion designer mixing deep concepts with feelings, sensitivity, and eye-catching form in whatever medium she is currently working with. Ilison has created costumes, sitespecific atmospheres, exhibitions, interior, and set designs, when she isn’t playing drums in a psychedelic band, sailing or cooking. Arising from a passion for concepts, pattern-making, and tailoring, Ilison’s work, called by the press as “whispered luxury,” is a patchwork of profound ideas and precision often the result of time-consuming technical execution and craftsmanship. Her efforts are actualized by timeless ready-to-wear pieces that allow for effortless dressing and comfort. Initially, a pattern maker in Tallinn, Ilison studied at the Danish Design School in Copenhagen and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Fashion Design from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2008. She then gained experience in London, Antwerp, Paris, and Berlin. In 2013, Ilison founded a creative design atelier with her brother Peeter Ilison.
