2015 Women’s Soccer Preview The Dragons enter the 2015-16 season looking to flip the script from a year ago. Last season, the Dragons scuffled to a 2-16 overall record and a 1-11 GLIAC record. Under 2nd year coach Melissa Bigg, the Dragons return plenty experience, including All-GLIAC goalkeeper Samantha Ortenzi. Defensively, the Dragons were under fire constantly, and the numbers were indicative of that. Samantha Ortenzi recorded 145 saves last season, which broke the single season record that stood since 1991. Tiffin will look to improve upon the 2.81 goals against average from last season as they return five defenders. On the attack, the Dragons struggled to put the ball in the back of the net, as they averaged less than a score a game. The Dragons return Svetlana Gudenkova this season. Gudenkova was on track for a huge offensive season. Through eight games, she had scored four goals and chipped in with two assists. Then her season was derailed by injury. Brittany Koester is another returner that contributed offensively, scoring three goals a season ago. Emorie Milford also brings back experience, scoring two goals for Tiffin during the 2014-15 campaign. The Dragons begin the regular season on the road, opening up on September 3, against the University of Charleston. Tiffin opens their home schedule on September 8, against Lewis University, and will begin GLIAC play on September 18 against Ferris State.
