Description and justification of The project.

Made for a heartfelt profession like baking, this project delivers to the life of a retired couple, Settling down in Charleston. The site is located in the historic district of Charleston, where the immediate context is the one Arts & Design school bringing in lots of millennials and the other huge amount of Touristic footfall is brought in through the proximity of the port.

The project caters as a contemporary mixed-use residential unit, So the architectural massing is corresponding to that Architectural massing confirms to its contemporary use, whereas its Industrial materials correspond to its historic location.

MINIMIZING THE VISUAL BARRIERS

Try to open up the building spaces to the max and give as much open vistas as possible

Explored at many possible permutations for the design to fit the programming structure into the wellwoven massing section. I initially decided to place the residential at the rear of the site, helping to keep the restaurant front.

Later, I mixed and divided the two different programmatic spaces into both vertically and horizontally, and created an interwoven design section that makes the restaurant on both sides of the street and keeps the top floor for residential use.
