Design Features Thoughtful Grip Design Ergonomic grip design gives more convenience while moving the inverter during installation. With special handle protection design, RPI-M50A can be easily placed down on the flat ground vertically without damaging various connectors at the bottom.

The RPI-M50A comes with built in PV fuse on both the positive and negative strings for all twelve inputs. Also the inverter has Type-2 SPD's (Surge Protection Device) for both the DC (One for each MPPT) and AC inputs. Both the PV fuse and SPD's can be replaced. This can bring down the overall PV system costing.

Apar has taken the lead from the MAKE IN INDIA initiative to develop Medium Voltage Covered conductors (MVCC) Presently we are witnessing several incidents where wild life is been fatally electrocuted in India. 400 Greater Flamingos have died in 10 days due to electrocution by high tension cables near their breeding grounds in Gujarat (2014), As many as 139 greater flamingos were electrocuted in Kutch desert wildlife sanctuary. On January 25, a female elephant died due to electrocution in the forests of Odisha’s Rourkela district. On the night of 4 September 15, a large tusker was electrocuted by a sagging high tension electric cable in Kaziranga national park, Assam.

3.0 Construction of MVCC Conductor:

Two leopards, one tigress and two sambar deer were also electrocuted between January 11 and 14(2011) in different forest divisions of Maharashtra’s Nagpur district. As per Tito Joseph of the Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI), every year at least 20 elephants, 11 leopards die due to electrocution.

According to CEA (Central Electricity Authority) mandatory guidelines, Medium Voltage Covered conductors should be used to reduce the ROW (right of way) of HT lines which are passing through the forest area for the safety of wild life. Apar has taken the lead from the MAKE IN INDIA initiative to develop Medium Voltage Covered conductors (MVCC) which is currently imported from overseas manufactures. 1.0 The challenges faced by Indian Utilitie: • Outages due to temporary tree contact • Conductor slashing due to corrosion • Wide Right of Way (ROW) • Electromagnetic field effect on electronic Surveillance • Safety (Road /Rail/River crossings/ Slums/ Congested residential areas etc.) 2.0 The Technology: Covered cond uctors consist of a cond uctor insulated by a covering made of insulating material(s) as protection against accidental contacts with other covered conductors and with grounded parts such as tree branches, etc. In comparison with insulated conductors, this covering has reduced thickness, but is sufficient to withstand the phase-to-earth voltage temporarily”

4.0 Anti Tracking Properties: Anti tracking property is must for MVCC Outer XLPE/HDPE. As per the experience of several international utilities, in the absence of anti tracking, XLPE /HDPE, MVCC fails within a short time period of 5-6 months. Anti Tracking jacketing has been specially designed to meet the outdoor conditions & performance requirements of 13.8KV to 34.5KV distribution networks. The material has an excellent resistance to arc, corrosion inhibitor, fungicide activity, oil resistance, and weather conditions like humidity, pollution, presence of salt in atmosphere etc. There is a special Test method for carrying out the tests for the Anti Tracking in SS EN 50397-1 . 5.0 Applicable Standards : SS EN 50397-1, BS EN 50182, IS 398-2, IS 398-4, IEC 61089

Moreover Lighting protection Earthing and arc protection accessories are available. 8.0 Easy Installation: Covered Conductors can be installed in an easy and fast manner; Normal pole to pole spacing can be between 50-70 Mts., standard poles of bare conductor can be used for covered conductors as the weight of covered conductors is only about 10-12% higher than bare conductor due to insulation. For fast installation even existing poles of bare conductors can be used without changing the cross arms and other fitting with covered conductor and its accessories. 9.0 Benefits of MVCC :

In A Large SPV Plant, Larger String Size Is Always Preferable PERC Module The efficiency improvement is a major driving force for development of new technologies. Several advancements are made in c-Si cell technology for improvement of the efficiency. Reduction of shading loss to improve the External Quantum Efficiency (EQE), enhancement of photo generation carriers and collection to improve the Internal Quantum Efficiency (EQE) are main thrust of the advanced technologies. Most of the recent technology advancement to tackle these issues are already in production. Notable among them are Double Printing (DP), Light Induced Plating (LIP), Selective Emitter (SE), etc. Defect passivation to enhance efficiency is another area drawing lot of attention. Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC), Passivated Emitter and Rear Locally Diffused (PERL) and passivated Emitter and Rear Totally Diffused (PERT) technologies have recently been developed to achieve defect passivation. Solar Cell made using such technologies gives very high efficiencies. PREC is now being introduced as commercial product. Module manufacturers must be geared to use this technology as it has some compatibility issues such as Cell to Module (CTM) conversion loss; Potential Induced Degradation (PID), etc. 1500 Volt Module The Solar PV (SPV) system size is always increasing in last few years. In a large SPV plant, larger string size is always preferable. Historically as the string size kept increasing from a modest level, several complications are encountered particularly related to module performance. One notable among them is Potential Induced Degradation (PID), which degrades the module performance in the medium and long term . It is now known that this is related to high electric field being encountered by the last module of the string if the string size is large. Several approachs are being adopted to tackle this issue. Limiting the string voltage to 1000V is one such precaution. Even at 1000V string voltage, the modules may exhibit PID effect unless proper materials and processes are not used during module manufacturing. It has been identified that cells are the major reason for PID failure and PID resistant cells are now available. PID problem at 1000V string voltage is now in control. It is now been demanded by the SPV system designers that the allowed string voltage to be raised to 1500V. This is a major technological challenge for the module manufacturer. The PID resistant cells (at 1000V) may no longer be able to prevent PID at 1500V. Moreover PID may get originated from other materials such as EVA, back sheet , glass, etc. A proper materials and manufacturing process must therefore be adopted for 1500V module.
