MIDDLE SCHOOL INTRO TO THE ARTS

What are they doing this winter in the art room? Introduction to the arts is designed to introduce the students to some of the things that they will encounter when they take art classes in their future at Solebury. One of the most important things that they do is learn the basics of drawing. Drawing is important to all areas of art. It is also a useful tool for communication in other areas. convey and words aren’t doing the trick...wouldn’t it be useful to have some basic drawing skills to get your point across? With that in mind we work on drawing basic shapes, drawing basic still lives, and extending that knowledge into more creative pieces that explore a variety of materials. So far this year the kids have worked with straight lines, cubes, cylinders, and have started to learn about light and shadow. They are also working with paint.
