We are so excited to welcome you to our Winter offerings. As always, Intermediate Painting & Drawing, Ceramics & Printmaking are options. If you have not taken the Beginning class, talk to Kirby or Erika about what you have done to see if you are prepared to take the more rigorous classes. Photo II will follow photo I. Additionally Beginning Printmaking & Ceramics, Art History (Roman to Romanesque), Life Drawing, Video Editing, Collage & Mixed Media will be offered as well. We can’t wait to see all of you down here in the art room.

WE WELCOME VISITORS TO SEE WHAT WE ARE DOING! FACULTY AND STUDENTS ALIKE!

AP ARTIST OF THE MONTH:

ABOUT ALEX WHAT DO WE KNOW? SHE LOVES TO make people ask questions about their world and to push their limits of tolerance. SHE ENJOYS ARTWORK that pushes the envelope of what is acceptable. ALEX’S CURRENT WORK make people slightly uncomfortable when they look at her images. Her paintings explore aspects of female bodies that may be awkward or unusual. She is working to recreate the “feeling” of human flesh in paint.

Up next month... Danny Wang and his drive to master realism...

LIFE DRAWING Our advanced students have the privilege of working from nude models in Life Drawing class. Many of the students this year are new to the class and have never drawn from the figure. They start with GESTURE drawings. Gestures are quick studies of the model that help the student to begin to see the figure as a whole system rather than a sum of it’s parts. Seeing the figure this way is one of the best ways to develop a sense of proportion and also to practice choosing interesting compositions. Our students have a big advantage when their portfolios contain figure drawings.
