Here is What Jesus Did for You and Why
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church… (Eph. 5:25-27)
The apostle Paul emphasizes the great love and privilege you and I have received. He describes the Bride’s glory, greatness, status, position and function… the ultimate statement of our value and His desire for us. God wants you as His eternal partner. Yes, because of the blood Jesus shed that day, You are beautiful in His sight. Receive it… believe it and feel this truth. Gave Himself: Jesus had to buy us before He could have us as His Bride (Eph. 1:7; 2:15; 5:2). Glorious church: You will live in a state of glory forever. Jesus has a plan for you. He is taking

you somewhere very glorious. You are destined to be successful in God forever. Everything works to this goal for your life. He will remove everything that hinders glory and love. ”The glory which You gave Me I have given them…Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory” (Jn. 17:22-24) To Sanctify her: Jesus separated you to Himself, His service, and heart. This speaks the Bride as very special to God and being called to the most exalted and unique position of any part of creation. ”You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood…His own special people…” (1 Pet. 2:9) To Cleanse her: Jesus cleanses you from the penalty and power of your sins. Your guilt and shame was removed on the day you were born again. He will progressively cleanse us from the power of all our dark thoughts, emotions, and actions so that we will forever be free of all defilement. Nothing will ever hinder our connection and enjoyment of our relationship with Him. Washing of water by the Word: The washing instrument used by the Holy Spirit is the Word of God. The Word and the Spirit must go together. The Word speaks of the great doctrines taught in Ephesians and throughout the Bible. To Present her to Himself: The high point of God’s plan is to present His people on the wedding day in splendor. Jesus’ plans for His Bride are far greater than the Bride’s dream for herself. He thinks far more about our wedding day than we do. Jesus is ready and wants His Bride to be ready. Why does Jesus presents His Bride to Himself? Simple: because nobody else is qualified to do it. He has done everything from beginning to end. We can accomplish nothing without Jesus’ help.
