A message from our president ! Finally, after two years I have finished my 6’4”, size-15-shoewearing son’s Virginia Tech knee socks knit on size zero needles and I will never do it again. I feel like they should be framed instead of worn. The Christmas stockings I am knitting this year will be a piece of cake in comparison. I can check that block.! ! I am looking forward to our holiday party at St Mary’s Home (formerly St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children) on Monday, Dec. 2. (Eds. note: Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in at the front desk, and bring a driver’s license or picture ID. Thanks.) $ We will be collecting knitted items such as hats, slippers, and lap blankets for the children and young adults with disabilities who live at St. Mary’s. If you don’t have time to knit, consider donating other items on their wish list, including batteries, gift certificates to stores and restaurants, craft supplies and fun and comfort items. Visit St. Mary’s website for a wish list, at www.saintmaryshome.org/donate/wish-list.! The events for the evening include a potluck with the Guild providing the drinks and main dish and members bringing a side dish or dessert. There will be a game sponsored by our charity committee and an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. The contest goal is to create a Christmas sweater uglier than the one I had on last year. No rules unless I make them up that night. The tackier, the better. This is a purely subjective contest. A separate email with information has already been sent out and be on the lookout for another before the meeting.! Plans are underway for our March 6-9 retreat, so mark your calendars. The price is right, the weekend fun and relaxing, and the only response to that eternal question of what’s for dinner is where to go. Registration forms are out, so get your form and money turned in to reserve your place. Space is limited.! ! I have spent enough time chit-chatting, and I must now return to my holiday knitting. I am not in panic mode yet, but if I get any more major disruptions in my life like having to feed the dogs and my family, I will be there sooner than later. How is your holiday knitting coming along?! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Debbie Hen derson www.tkgv.blogspot.com
