A Message from Our President Finally, we have some weather that warrants wearing the beautiful cowls, hats, scarves and sweaters we spent the fall making or storing. I didn’t think it would ever get cold enough to wear my favorite alpaca sweater more than once. Of course, I may have to eat my words if we end up with a major snowstorm, but then again that would be time to knit. A bus for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Fest was discussed at the January meeting and, much to my surprise many members vocalized a desire to go to some other fiber fest. If you want the Guild to contract a bus for MS&W, I need your input NOW. We estimate the cost to be $45-$50 a person and we must have at least 35 people sign up. Sue Von Ohlsen is going to talk about using the color wheel as a knitting tool at the February meeting. The color wheel is a great tool for organizing your stash, selecting yarns for a new project or even decorating your home. Don’t forget to bring your wheel to the meeting and, if you don’t have one, think about getting one from our local yarn shops. It is a great tool to have in your knitting bag. Feb. 18 is Hockey Night! Bring your knitting and family for a fun, noisy night and support our Norfolk Admirals at Scope. Tickets are $14 each and I will purchase tickets together for those who bring cash to the February meeting. For those that don’t want to commit that early, I am going to get seats in Section 223. In March, Marilyn Estrada (a certified yoga instructor) is going to demonstrate yoga techniques for “Knitters and Sitters.” Wear something comfortable and come ready to stretch. “Me and my achy stiff shoulders” can’t wait. Also that month, the Guild will have a table at the Virginia Beach Spring Craft Fair, March 16-18. Please block some time now on your calendars to help staff our table that weekend. Entry to the fair is free for volunteers is free. Please keep in your thoughts and prayers two of our members who are battling illnesses. Joanne Fischer is undergoing cancer treatment and our one and only Ruth Coleman has been in the hospital. Inquiries about Ruth should be done through Sue at the Knitting Corner. Take care, and I hope to see you at the February meeting.
