We Love Where We Live.

President’s Message “It’s a bird, it’s a plane … it’s Citrus Fair!”

W

elcome friends and neighbors! Welcome to the 2018 Cloverdale Citrus Fair! What’s that? Look, look up, up in the air. It’s a bird, it’s a plane … it’s Citrus Fair! Yes folks, this year’s theme is all about superheroes. Although the theme was conceived before the recent fire tragedies, it is timely and appropriate to think of superheroes. Join us as we take this time to acknowledge and thank our own real life superheroes, the skilled firefighters of the Cloverdale Fire Department and Cal Fire, the police officers of the Cloverdale Police Department and others who helped to protect property and save lives during the recent devastating fires. On behalf of the Citrus Fair Board, I would also like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to you, friends and neighbors, for your continued support. Your attendance, participation and positive word-of-mouth advertising

are key factors contributing to the ongoing success of Cloverdale’s fair. And now, a word about the fair directors. The board, consisting of 11 volunteer directors, is designated as a working board and during the fair you will see us on the premises serving in various capacities. I would like to applaud their hard work and dedication. I appreciate all that they do for the fair, as does our CEO, Bonnie Wlodarczyk. We will be wearing name tags so if you have any questions or concerns, stop and talk to us. I promise, we will either give you the answer or get you the answer. Have a great time at the fair, come often, and by all means bring your friends and family. Up, up, and away! See you at the 2018 Cloverdale Citrus Fair!

ourt ‘n’ Disaster plays a blend of classic and traditional country music along with their own original songs. Their high energy, danceable songs are played by a group of Sonoma County legal professionals and friends who bill themselves as “Your Standard Courthouse Band.” The band is made up of judges, law clerks, legal secretaries, etc. Perhaps no other style of country music has had a greater influence on today’s artists than the style known as honky tonk. Honky tonk music embodied the spirit of dancing and drinking, and of loving and then losing the one you love. Don’t miss this talented band performing Monday, February 19 at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on the Outdoor Stage at the 2017 Cloverdale Citrus Fair.

matic little circus, cheering for the kids and applauding with enthusiasm. Parents state being more than pleased with the idea of some face-to-face fun in an educational and safe enjoyment away from computer screens and remote controls. Aiming to maximize their full creative potential by strengthening their confidence, the major triumph of Circus Imagination is still the fact that it does not end when the show is over. Its inspiration to play outside and use your inventiveness is taken home by every child. Multiple circus performances will be held daily at the Citrus Fair.

nside a colorful circus tent at this year’s Cloverdale Citrus Fair, imaginations will run wild. Ringmaster Caton Raintree-Hegwer and wife, costume coordinator Carolina RaintreeHegwer, will handpick kids from the audience to take part in an interactive spontaneous theater. The Circus is designed to get children to be active and use their imaginations by dressing up and performing in front of their families. The children are not the only ones captured by the show’s magic: the whole audience is moved by this charis-

uelling Dames is live theatre that teaches history with hilarity, astounds with swordfighting skills, and is daring enough to bring young swashbucklers onstage. What role does combat play in our lives today? The Duelling Dames empower swashbucklers of all ages to become brave warriors against bullying. The Quinquagenarian Queen and the Puerile Princess argue about everything. The Dames present a hilarious historically educational performance. They quote – “When we get to modern times, the scariest weapon is a cell phone, that teens use to send hurtful texts. We discuss how cyber bullying can be the most hurtful weapon on our stage.”

ashboard Willy is a unique, interactive children's entertainer that provides a special combination of rhythm, sound effects and comedy to delight everyone. Willy's love of people and music shows in a special warmth, energy and spontaneity that irresistibly captures one's imagination. With his own kind of energy, Washboard Willy has become a Pied Piper of Rhythm for children of all ages. His interactive style connects with all audiences.

What solutions to bullying do they teach? They believe bullying is a complex issue with many possible solutions and offer some alternatives, but most importantly, they encourage the students to think for themselves, to start discussions, and to trust their ideas. Fighting over how to fight, these loveable characters emphasize learning and critical thinking. The Duelling Dames will present a delightful tale that both excites families about history while teaching anti-violence strategies. Their shows are free with fair admission and will take place in the Auditorium on Sunday February 18 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

During his performance he and Wishboard Wanda pass out handheld rhythm instruments to the kids and together they become Willy's Washboard Jamboree. With thimbles on his gloves and bells and whistles on his rhythm board, Washboard Willy is fast becoming a low-tech, high-energy washboard legend known around the world. The Washboard Willy Jamboree performs daily, Friday through Monday, at the Citrus Fairgrounds.

Join us after the Parade for a hearty lunch or Sunday morning for breakfast.
