“There’s a lot of good spirit and joy to be found, Not in a Big Box, But here in our town.

The internet was happening And online orders were ablaze While little shopkeepers here Sat idle and dazed.

“Favorite places, no hurrying festive happenings to make. Arts, crafts and real treasures, Not plastic or fake.

What has happened to Christmas And the joyous “Season of Giving? Why can’t we be traditional And still make a living?

“Children’s wishes are waiting, Old friends will come calling, Are we ready to celebrate? Or too busy a-malling?

With Macy’s, Walmart, And Amazon, too, How can a hometown merchant Find customers to woo?

“Get ready the wassail, and light up our tree; Remind one another, It’s not ‘them’, it’s ‘we’.

When what to our wandering Eyes should appear, But a tiny old man, With a sled and reindeer.

“Let’s deck out our Main Streets, And remember one thing: ‘Tis the “Season of Giving, Not the “Buying of Things.
