Community Center, a lovely facility that serves as the host of many events and activities and is available to rent and reserve for special occasions.
The neighborhood of North Heights was the model for sensitive development in the Sonoran Desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains. Developed as a custom homesite sales effort between 1988 and 1998, lots range in size from approximately .25 acre to over an acre. Each site was initially planned with a designated building envelope and open space requirements, preserving as much natural desert as possible. The result is a lovely setting of elegant custom homes tucked within the boulder outcroppings and sensitive desert landscapes that only Mother Nature could create.
All North Heights homes are custom designed and built, ranging from approximately 2,000 sq. ft. to over 5,000 sq. ft. Many have pools and all have at least a 2 or 3 car garage. The course is worthy of its numerous accolades from Golf Digest, Golfweek, and others. The stunning views of the Mazatzal Mountains and the quiet of the Sonoran Desert gives golfers a heightened golf experience away from distractions.
Scottsdale Mountain was a model for both hillside development and sensitive community planning within a desert environ. Within Scottsdale Mountain, a community center features a tennis center and sport court that provides the most scenic view found anywhere in Arizona’s sports world! There is an outdoor pavilion for resident gatherings, plus a secluded, hillside whirlpool spa.
The McDowell Sonoran Preserve Trails cover an aggregate 36,400 acres of land that has been assembled through public and private partnerships, and is protected and preserved for “a sustainable natural desert habitat for wildlife, desert flora, and appropriate public use”. The Preserve includes lands of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. Some of
the area’s best hiking and equestrian trails are located here. You will also find the trailhead to the Sunrise Trail that winds through the mountains. The 4.48 mile trail has a 2,852 foot elevation with spectacular 360 degree views of the Valley. Nearby is the world-renowned Mayo Clinic and it’s 75,000’ research facility, one of the area’s top employers.
Homes in Scottsdale Mountain range from villas to luxury custom homes, and are priced from the $300’s to over $4 million. Homes are situated on the southern facing slopes of the McDowells and offer stunning views of the Valley of the Sun. In Hidden Hills, homes have spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains and it’s lush canyons.
To look at the social calendar, golf activities calendar or the great menu served up at Ancala Country Club in Scottsdale, it’s easy to see why Ancala, located at 120th Street and Via Linda in Scottsdale, is such a popular club with its residents and members.
There is a member-friendly restaurant and grille bar, plus plenty of outside dining patios that serve up an enormous view of the Valley of the Sun. There are always fun social activities like wine tastings, book clubs, drive-in movies for the kids, fitness sessions and dine-arounds to join. Members find the facilities accommodating, from the ample meeting and social rooms to the recently updated fitness center,
the active tennis program and the world-class golf course. It’s unusual to find a member-run club that offers this many activities when the original developer leaves the scene. The club is expertly managed by Eagle Golf. Recently named one of the “Top 5 Golf Courses in Scottsdale” by GolfLink.com.
Homes for Sale at Ancala Country Club range from $600,000 to $5 million. Lot sizes range from 1/4 acre to over an acre and were generally custom-built between 1995 and 2011. Most lots have either a beautiful location on a fairway or a stunning view of the Valley ... sometimes both!
