Marine climates around the site help in constructing a perfect healing environment for a treatment programme. According to research, the air in the middle of the sea is pure and free of germs. Whlist, at 200m from the coastline, there are estimated 100 germs per cubic meter of air. Meanwhile, at 3km from the shore, there are more than 10,000 germs per cubic meter. Lastly, there are around 50,000 germs per cubic meter air in the centre of city.

HISTORY OF HYDROTHERAPY The therapeutic use of water has been recorded in ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. Hydrotherpay spread to Northern Europe through Sebastian Kneipp. Hydrotherapy as a formal medical tool dates from about 1829

MODERN DAY HYDROTHERAPY Modern day hydrotherapy is often used as a form of rehabilitation, especially after one had surgery. Often called “water-cure various therapies used in the present-day hydrotherapy employ water jets, underwater massage and mineral baths

How to control humidity in pool hall?

TYPICAL TEMPERATURE OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF POOLS

Regulate the difference in absolute moisture content between outside air (fresh air) and the warm humid conditions found in a pool environment (pool air). And to do this we can use fresh air as it will always be drier than pool air. These properties can be illustrated on the Psychrometric chart below.

Thalassotherapy

Thalassotherapy uses seawater and seaweed in different spa treatments to improve skin and revitalise the body. Thalassotherapy treatments are also said to be good for the circulation. Salt as well as traces of iodide, potassium, calcium, magnesium found in sea water are thought to have healing properties. Thalassotherapy is found largely in the sea area and includes showers with warm seawater or application of sea mud, algae and so on. Inhalation of sea fog and sea weed wraps are also thought to be beneficial.

Sitz Bath

Sitz bath involves the immersion of the pelvic area, which includes the hips, buttocks, and low abdomen, into a seated tub. The sitz bath can be done while the feet are placed in the same or contrary temperature. If the sitz bath is combined with the foot bath, it is usually done in alternating fashion of opposite temperatures. Sitz baths are useful in vaginal infections, chronic urinary tract infections, pelvic congestion, pelvic inflammatory disease, hemorrhoids, fissures, prostatitis, constipation, postpartum, improving neuralgias and insomnia.

The Kneipp

Hydro-massage

The principle of a Kneipp Therapy is based on hot and cold showers, rinses, baths, and compresses. The interplay of hot and cold water on the skin, widens the arteries, stimulates blood flow and the metabolic system and strengthens the immune system. The Kneipp cure incorporates other naturopathic treatments such as use of botanical medicines, proper diet and exercise as well as spiritual wellbeing. Methods such as dew walking, snow walking and even water treading is included in this system. The different methods generate different segmental, immune system and physiological responses in individuals.

Hydro massage refers to the use of hot water to inculcate mechanical and thermal massage of different body parts. This message therapy boasts of promoting circulation of blood throughout the body, releasing tension in knots and ridding the body of any pain. This relaxing form of water-based hydrotherapy massage can take place in a dedicated spa pool or in a specially designed bath. You can usually control the intensity of the water jets to increase the strength of the massage, and you’ll find that there are jets placed at different heights and areas in the bath or pool which are designed to be used on specific parts of your body.

TYPE OF HYDROTHERAPY

Balneotherapy

Natural hot water springs as well as modern spas offer this type of hydrotherapy. Relaxation, stimulation, massage as well as mineral baths with sulfur, selenium, radium and silica form a part of this therapy. Painful conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and certain skin conditions could improve with this type of therapy. It is frequently used in alternative medicine as a disease cure and is very popular for treatment of all types of arthritis

SPA THERAPY

SAUNA & STEAM THERAPY

TYPES OF HYDROTHERAPY The three main focus of the various forms of hydrotherapy will be the spa, steam room / sauna and temperate baths. Users can choose these types of therapies in order to relieve discomfort and promote physical well-being.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED THERAPIES Different therapies can be performed at different controlled temperatures , the temperature of water used affects the therapeutic properties of the treatment. Hot water is chosen for its relaxing properties. It is also thought to stimulate the immune system. Tepid water can also be used for stress reduction, and may be particularly relaxing in hot weather. Cold water is selected to reduce inflammation. Alternating hot and cold water can stimulate the circulatory system and improve the immune system.

WALLS AND LOURVES Since privacy is essential criteria to considered in a therapy building while views are also a key concept of my design, the wood bending method that can transform a blocked wall into louvres is useful during my design process. From the test above, I designed a wall of a sauna room where people outside could not really see the inside but people inside can still enjoy the views outside

WALLS AND LOURVES I try to developed from the simpler structure I did previously to become a more interesting facade
