For a student project it was asked to design the visual identity, including a booklet, for a Festival of a subject or a person of our choice. Waveomatic Street Dance-Popping Festival is a tribute to Nicholas James Birakos known as Wave-O-matic, one of the most innovative and influential street dance instructors. He is widely recognized as the person who perfected the style of waving. Waveomatic Street Dance-Popping Festival is a 2 days festival. The general design for the festival is based on soundwaves which form the letter "W". Day #1 is focused on the style of waving (smooth-liquid movements) so the design for day#1 is based on the sine soundwave. Day #2 is focused on the style of tutting (the body creates geometric positions such as boxes) so the design for day#2 is based on the square soundwave.
