Agrisole

Years of passion bind the Caputo family to the town of San Miniato. In the background the real Tuscany, linked to the culture of his homeland, but that has its roots in search of beauty and refined Stories of men and work in the vineyards, nestled in a hillside setting of rare beauty, where the vine adorns the round shapes of the earth. Since 2004, the Caputo family has returned to play this environmental and cultural heritage, creating Agrisole company, a company created to interpret the tradition into a modern Tuscan wine. Agrisole is a term that personifies the connection with nature and a passion for genuine and very territorial wines. The production of Chianti DOCG and IGT Toscana are authentic expressions of a path of innovation in tradition, where the only fruits of nature mingle with the perfection and simplicity of the actions of man.

Arrighi

The estate is located in the eastern part of Elba island, on the hills behind the Porto Azzurro bay. This estate was founded by the Arrighi family from Elba and it consists of a 9 hectare area within the Arcipelago Toscano National Park. The Arrighi estate was scaled back in the 1970s to a vineyard area of 2 hectares but then embarked on a development strategy with a wide range of grape varieties (also including half a hectare experimental vineyard), to verify the adaptability to specific soil and climate conditions. Based on results achieved (10 years later!), we decided to invest part of the production in new varieties. Today the company owns approximately 6 vineyard hectares. Elba can boast from ancient time a great wine tradition, it was already aknowledged at the time of Pliny the Elder: "Island fruitful of wine", but, without detracting from the validity and importance of local varieties and undisputed viticultural vocation of Elba, we get confirmation by excellent performances of some varieties unusual for the context of Elba.

Enrico Santini

The estate is a new and emerging reality located within Bolgheri DOC zone. The vineyards consist of 12 hectares and vary in their composition: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah for red wines, while Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc for white wines. The whole activity of the estate is managed directly by the owner, Enrico Santini. Enrico Santini was born and raised in the area of Bolgheri. His decision to plant vineyards and dedicate his life was a result of his love for the land and the microclimate of this spectacular Tuscan coastal area. This passion influenced his decision to implement organic practices within his vineyards, a further conviction on the part of Enrico to achieve a perfect harmony between the vine and terroir, thus obtaining the maximum results imaginable in the combination of these elements. The estate produced its first wines in 1999 but was quickly recognized as one of the future stars under the Bolgheri appellation.

Fattoria di Piazzano

Fattoria di Piazzano was established in 1948 by the Bettarini's family. The Estate combines 60 ha of which 34 ha of vineyards planted with an high density of vines per hectare (5.200 in the new vineyards ) in order to lower the quantity of fruit per vine and consequently improve the grape and wine quality. The vineyards are managed with the spur pruning training system. The winery decided to move to a more natural way of managing the vineyards and the cellar, reducing the use of chemicals to respect the environment.

Fontuccia

The company was born from Simone and Giovanni's love and passion for the land and for their island. It takes the name from the place where the main vineyard is located, in the western part of the Giglio island, facing south-southwest. Originally it was just a hobby but, as time passed and as a result of their achievements, it became something more, culminated in the first bottled vintage in 2009 which exceeded even our highest expectations. Although the company was officially founded in 2005, the work of the two young viticulturists apprentices was already drawing attention on the island by the end of 1990s. The soil is totally granite, rich in minerals but poor in calcium, well drained and soft to be worked.

La Piana

“La Piana” Organic Farm, is on the Capraia Island, part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. The farm lies on the historically important “Il Piano S. Stefano” - Saint Stefano's Plain - which has always inspired and fascinated its visitors because of its rural landscape, its rich vineyards, its flourishing Mediterranean underbrush of colours and scents and its proximity to the sea. The ancient Romans, the anchorites who lived in seclusion for religious reasons and the raiding Saracens settled on the Plain because it was the only flat area of the island where they could live and produce everything they needed. During the last century, the area was leased to a penal colony and its prisoners farmed the land until the penitentiary was closed down.

In 2000, when the Mediterranean scrub threatens to overwhelm everything, began a careful and difficult environmental restoration of the area who reported to their original splendor these places giving back to view a territory "ancient" of extraordinary beauty. The landscape, guarded by the presence of agricultural activity, is drawn from the discontinuity of the rows of vines in the Mediterranean vegetation, terraces, stone walls, ancient cisterns, and native ornamental species such as oleander, rosemary, old rose; is a perfect integration of quality agriculture, environmental protection and historical memory. From these 3.5 hectares planted with Vermentino and Aleatico the wines produced are: a rosé and a dessert wine with Aleatico grapes and a dessert wine with Vermentino grapes. Then in 2012, began the new restoration work of ancient terraces in the area of the former prison where he is developing a new plant. Work is still continuing and we expect the first grapes of this new vineyard for the 2015 harvest.

Michele Russo RUSSO

Located in the heart of Val di Cornia, the company Michele Russo expresses through its wines the full potential of the terroir of Alta Maremma. The company philosophy, aimed at promoting the region and its peculiarity, starts from the management of the vineyards. This natural approach reduces the use of chemicals to respect the environment. The land lies on a gentle hill which slopes constantly and is mainly composed of rock, clay, silt, sand, and, above all, a rich amount of mineral microelements. The training system of the vineyards is spur cordon and the number of vines per hectare ranges between 5000 and 5600. In addition to vineyards, the company has 9 hectares of olive groves.

Podere Il Castellaccio

"A sip from the past, while looking to the future."

This is our philosophy in ten words. It is to tell the story of our region through the salvaging of ancient varieties that are inextricably linked to the tradition of Tuscan wine, specifically in the area of Bolgheri. A vineyard with forty years of history is the tangible proof of a tradition handed down over time. Old varieties as Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello, which virtually disappeared from local winemaking, are now the object of careful recovery and enhancement in order to express their potential quality. Our wines come from these principles, which combine history, tradition and an environment with a unique “terroir”. A great passion for nature was the sole reason of this initiative. Since then, two generations have followed each other, but passion and sensibility remain unchanged.

The estate in the southernmost limit of the Chianti Classico appellation: warm soils and climate that give intense and powerful wines. We have a variety of soil types, the classic schisty limestone “galestro”, cooler clay soils and warmer sandypebbly ones. The diverse soil types, together with different grape varieties and exposures, give a series of variables that allow us to make excellent wines in all climate conditions a vintage can offer. We practice as natural a form of agriculture as possible, trying to make wine without toxic residues but also without giving up on the highest quality we can achieve.

During harvest we select grapes in the vineyard, picking up to 3 separate times in the same vineyard, and we ferment all varieties and selections separately. If the grapes are ripe and healthy, also the work in the winery becomes simple. We don’t used cultivated yeast, reduce the use of sulphites to the absolute minimum necessary to achieve the best quality possible and also the choice of barrels is made so as not to spoil the fantastic character expressed by our territory. After ageing we blend the wines, choosing from the various batches depending on the quality of the vintage. Finally, also marketing and sales are important to us, and we try to not only give our commercial partners a product, but also to transmit the spirit with which we have made it: balance, harmony and attention to detail.

Rascioni & Cecconello

Everything began in 1977 when Vinicia and Paolino Cecconello along with their two daughters, decided to drastically change their lives. In 1988 they met the young winemaker Attilio Pagli, and decided to produce high quality wines with local varieties such as sangiovese and the unknown ciliegiolo. Today it is Sabrina who manages the winery with Paolo her husband. Together they are respectful of traditions while being open to modern technologies. The vineyards have a surface area of about 5 hectares and include the grape varieties “sangiovese”, “ciliegiolo” and “vermentino”. The hilly soil on which they grow is of medium consistency with a high percentage of rock. These factors are essential in providing the high level of freshness to the grapes.
