Personal & Professional Practice Level 6
Life After Uni: • Would like to study an MA at some point, but first I want to put everything I’ve been learning on this course to the test so maybe in a few years! • Interested in finding a studio space with someone – working from home might make it difficult for me to focus. (Considering Duke Studios)
Personal & Professional Practice Level 6
Steps I am taking this year: • Contacting practitioners who’s work I resonate with to help me get a better understanding of what sort of illustrator I want to be • Attending Career Track Tuesdays & Start Up Wednesdays to learn about finding a job, networking and how to be my own boss • Re-working visual identity & promo pack (website, business cards, portfolio, format of work samples) • Refining practical skills & being more critical of finished pieces
Personal & Professional Practice Level 6
Other things to develop my practice: • Attend events such as Thought Bubble and speak to other practitioners – ask how they started, how they got to where they are now etc • Take part in competitions/events such as the Travelling Man exhibition to get work out there • Find out about any local art markets I can participate in • Keep talking to people about what they are doing – as a bit of an introvert I tend not to do this so I want to make extra effort to be a bit more confident and talk more.
