I used inspiration from big festivals that take place in the areas I’ve chosen, e.g day of the dead festival in Mexico. I chose to do this so that I could celebrate each countries culture whilst raising awareness to a serious issue.

The designs I drew for Mexico were heavily inspired by the mexican sugar skulls that are associated with the day of the dead festival, I plan on using bright vibrant colours in a playful way. There is strength in these designs in that they represent the country well and there’s a lot going on in the image, however I am considering writing ‘Mexico’ somewhere on the bottle as I’m struggling to make it clear and this is specified in the brief.

For Belize I looked at the Fiesta De Carnaval which is a paint festival in Belize. From my research I’ve come to the conclusion that I will use pastel colours on this design based on imagery and references. These designs are a lot simpler than the Mexican designs, however I plan on developing them in Photoshop.

When I was researching Costa Rica everything felt traditional so I used traditional patterns from reference that I found in my research. The colours in Costa Rica are mostly reds and blues so I plan on using a similar colour pallette. These designs are more shape based than the previous two and I worry that they won’t fit together in a set.

My Dominican Republic designs aren’t as strong as the rest of my designs as I wasn’t as inspired by the research I did. I tried to get across the vibes of the festivals they hold there and so used characters from their popular festivals to create faces in the bottle wrap designs.
