In contrast with the cover of the cynic side, I’ve switched the black and white sections around in order to show that this is a happier period in Huxley’s life

As with the opposite side of my book, I’m leaving all of the natural marks made during the monoprint process in order to give it a more authentic, real look.

Converting the graph paper monoprints into completely black and white was a good decision as it keeps with the brief (allowing me to use one more colour for my text) and adds depth and texture to my image.

A lot of my monoprints have mistakes on them, including this one which I’m still planning on using because I think that the success of a monoprint is sometimes a lot to do with the happy accidents that come from it. The ink on this particular print has bled too heavy in some parts, however it helps with the tone and lighting of the overall image and the smudges in the background give it depth and texture.

Using the news print and graph paper was a good decision because both picked up the ink in different ways, providing me with so many different textures for my book.

I’ve had to mess around a lot with the composition of my monoprints once on photoshop because some of them were’nt the right fit for an A5 page in my book, meaning I’ve left white space on some images and pushed others to one side in order to make them fit. However I think this was a good decision because it means I have interesting compositions on each page.

I’ve included some of my sketchbook drawings in both sides of my publication as it was suggested during a tutorial, it also means I can get more content into my book.
