1. W hat skills have you developed through this m odule and how effectively do you think you have applied them ? Throughout this module, I have had a wonderful opportunity to work collaboratively with both fellow designers and clients, with a focus on branding and brand development, an aspect of the industry I was keen to develop and showcase for my portfolio upon seeking employment. I believe that this has offered me very valuable insight, in particular, into time management, organisation and other real-world experiences within a design studio, such as budgeting, promotion and how to build and maintain effective working relationships. I also feel that the collaborations that I have experienced have taught me a great deal about various industries and practices/approaches to design, such as photographing and documentation of work, Architectural design and hand-rendered design that I may not have otherwise experienced, and, consequently, have gone on to influence the development of my design portfolio.

2. W hat approaches to/m ethods of design production have you developed and how have they inform ed your design developm ent process? Through specialising in design for print, my knowledge of this aspect of the industry has developed, not only in setting up documents for print, but also learning about the variety of print productions available and accessible, as well as how to build a strong working relationship with a printer for a reliable and effective design outcome. I feel that developing an understanding of the quality and finish of high-end print has also helped to strengthen my meticulous nature and attention-to-detail. Alongside this, throughout the module I have had more opportunities to work in web-based design through starting to explore the potential of CSS design and creating proposals for online media, which is something I hope to develop throughout my personal and professional practice as a result.

3. W hat strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these? Throughout various briefs, I feel as though my understanding of editorial and typographic design has certainly progressed, and is something I now have a keen interest to develop further within both my personal and professional practice, particularly through working on the Design Context publication brief, along with the editorial LookBook design for the Jessie Leong Photography Spring Summer

2013 brief. Partly due to collaborating with a photography student, I now feel far happier with the development of the photography and documentation of my own work for my portfolio, which was something I particularly wanted to focus on from the given feedback through various portfolio reviews and studio visits in the past year. 4. W hat weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future? I still feel as though my work would benefit from more versatility in regards to projects, and being more ambitious with the outcomes and clients that I pursue to work with. Despite wanting a focus on branding, as the area of the industry I particularly hope to work in upon graduation, I know that I can have a great deal more variety within this particular field, especially through applied branding and promotion, something although I tried to develop from the previous OUGD301 Design Practice III module, I still feel I could have developed further.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (Please indicate using an ‘X’) 5= Excellent, 4 = Very good, 3 = Good, 2 = Average, 1 = Poor 1 2 3 4 5 Attendance X Punctuality X Motivation X Commitment X Quantity of work produced X Quality of work produced X Contribution to the group X The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
