Rona Herman, also known as Rona the Ribbiter™ and The Traveling Quilter, is an author, teacher, pattern designer and YouTube host with a passion to experience all that life (and quilting) has to offer. Rona’s unique pattern style of pairing traditional quilt block piecing with a modern look and utilizing direction and fabric placement allows her to combine both her love of art and mathematics. Her quilts may look difficult, but in truth, they are as easy to assemble as any traditional quilt.

Collections For A Cause: Etchings Fabric Collection Designed by Howard Marcus and 3 Sisters for Moda Fabrics benefiting the Parkinson's Foundation. Howard Marcus and the 3 Sisters are honored to invite you to join them to stitch beautiful new projects sure to be cherished heirlooms with a special new Collections for a Cause – Etchings. In homage to the original Etchings collection we have worked together to curate this line of opulent florals and jacobean designs from our antique mill books and textile archives. Rich, warm shades of crimson, aqua, and stone are set against parchment background fabrics to create a fresh and inviting collection with timeless appeal. Together we created a signature collage print of vintage ephemera lavishly layered with affirmational text, etched architectural renderings, damasks, and botanical elements which share our message of hope and strength. While we hope this beautiful piece will lift the spirits of all, it was created to help raise awareness for Parkinson’s Disease and contains special imagery relating to this cause such as tulips and uplifting quotes, one from a famous Parkinson’s survivor. Sewing and quilting are relaxing and enjoyable hobbies. Still, it's not uncommon to find yourself feeling stuck in a creative rut or experiencing burnout after extended periods of working on a project. To make sewing and quilting more enjoyable, here are five fun and practical ways to get inspired and injected with creativity again.

5 WAYS TO MAKE SEWING AND QUILTING TIME MORE FUN

.01 JOIN A SEWING OR QUILTING GROUP Joining a sewing or quilting group is an excellent way to connect with other crafters and get inspired by their work. It's also a perfect opportunity to share your ideas and get feedback. Consider starting your own group, giving you more control over what's discussed and how frequently you meet. Groups can be as large or as small and intimate as you like. There is no "one size fits all."

.03 TRY A NEW TECHNIQUE OR PATTERN One of the best ways to keep your sewing and quilting practice fresh and exciting is to try new techniques or patterns. Take a class, join a workshop, or watch videos on YouTube to learn new skills and ideas. You don't need to take on massive projects either - something small, like a new stitch or technique, can breathe life into your sewing and quilting experience.

ATTEND A SEWING OR QUILTING EVENT Attending a sewing and quilting event is a great way to meet other like-minded people and connect with vendors who specialize in crafting supplies. You'll gain exposure to all kinds of materials, machines, and notions that could inspire your next projects, and it's an opportunity to connect with other makers and industry professionals so you can expand your network.

.05 SEW OR QUILT FOR A GOOD CAUSE Sewing and quilting for a cause can make your work feel more meaningful, and it's a great way to use your skills to make a difference in your community. Consider creating quilts for children in hospitals or shelters, blankets for people experiencing homelessness, or face masks for essential workers or those in need of PPEs. Doing good while utilizing your crafting skills is a win-win situation that will bring fulfillment and inspiration to your practice. Finally, there are plenty of ways to make sewing and quilting more enjoyable and rejuvenating.
