Of the event, held at the Mid Ocean Beach Club in Bermuda, and included guests from Bermuda, New York, Missouri, and Kentucky, Jana wrote: “After multiple COVID tests, we were able to entertain our friends with a limit of 10 for dinner. We enjoyed cocktails overlooking the ocean and watched the races on a TV linked to my iPhone hotspot by the old stone fireplace. Then we enjoyed a lovely three-course dinner.”

Not being able to at Churchill Downs for Oaks and Derby didn’t stop attorney and modern pentathlete Stacy Anne Hoehle from dressing the part on each day.

DERBY DELAYED

Churchill Downs is capable of accommodating 165,000 spectators. Still, for this year’s rescheduled Derby weekend, one without paid spectators, the crowd's roar was replaced by an uncharacteristic quiet. SL’s own Tony Bailey was at the track on Oaks and Derby to capture the action, which saw Authentic, trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by jockey John Velazquez win the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby. Shedaresthedevil, trained by Brad Cox, and ridden by Florent Geroux, posted a stakes-record time of 1:48:28 en route to an Oaks win.

DERBY WEEK DINNER & DRAG IN PARISTOWN

Held in Christy’s Garden at Paristown Point, this socially distanced drag show benefitted the Louisville Youth Group.
