Advising Appointment

Page 1

Are You Ready for Spring 2017 Advising/Registration? Appointment availability begins October 24, 2016 after midterms through mid December 2016. To expedite the process, please be reminded of a few things PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!!!! 1.

You MUST schedule an appointment, with your advisor, by using your Grades First account. a. If you have issues with your Grades First account, contact Dawn.Miles@aamu.edu for assistance. b. Include your name, Student A#, Major and explain in detail the issue.

2.

Be courteous, and respectful when you arrive.

3.

Come prepared! Do not come empty handed! You must bring with you the following items: a. Black or Blue INK pen No pencils or colored ink. I will NOT be loaning any pens! b. Advising Planning Sheet It must be filled out and completed; do not come with a blank form! c. Your current major curriculum sheet. (2016-2017 for all incoming Freshmen)

I have attached an example of a filled out planning sheet, a blank advising planning sheet for you to fill out and a document on how to download your curriculum sheet. Again, if you do not have these items, you will NOT be serviced. No exceptions!! REMINDERS: 1. Please do not contact your advisor’s office for an advising PIN especially if you have sought advising outside this office. You must be ADVISED by your advisor to secure one. 2.

Do not contact your advisor’s office to remove a University HOLD (UC). You must be advised BY THE ADVISOR’S OFFICE to have it removed.

3.

If you have other HOLDS (Accounts Receivable, Student Health, Parking, Admissions, etc), you should still come to advising. However, you will not be able to register for classes until the HOLDS are cleared by the depts that issued them.

4.

If you are on academic probation (GPA is less than 1.5), you must see Ms. Janet Jones for advising!

5.

Due to the volume of students the advisors have to advise and their teaching schedules there may not be enough advising slots. Do not panic! You can come during “DROP in days.” on a” first-come -first serve basis.” The advisors will also do my best to schedule a "ETPS walk-in session" to accommodate students who could not secure a time slot. I will send an email to notify you of its status. Be patient! BE ON TIME!!! Your advisor will not see you if you are late for your appointment. If you cannot make the appointment, please cancel it on Grades First and reschedule.

Have a great semester! When you have earned 31 or more credit hours, you have reached sophomore status. You must see your faculty advisor of your major for Fall 2017 advising
