Camera Obscura evokes a retro aesthetic with a nod to film noir that can bring a fresh perspective on our modern world. Themes of secrets, desire, and dreams unfold as we journey through a world of murder and mayhem, all centered around the irresistible mystery of what lies within the box.
As an audience, we become voyeurs, peering into a story that blurs the lines between reality and illusion. As creators, we push the boundaries of theatrical expression, and as performers and models, we breathe life into this unique experience.
Bringing Camera Obscura to fruition is a collective effort, and our gratitude runs deep for the incredible community that makes it possible.
A dancer in the fashion show since 2016, Meagan became the director of Dance/Choreography and Sound Designer in 2019. Meagan studied Modern Dance Composition, Performance and Improvisation at Middlebury College. She has taught, choreographed, and performed with dance companies, programs, and residencies in NYC, New England, Boulder, CO, and the Roaring Fork Valley. She wishes to thank Emily Fifer, a brilliant movement artist and unmatched collaborative partner. Meagan sends big gratitude to Stephen, Vivienne, Mabel, Momo, and Nick for believing, supporting, and existing in the first place. Her work is dedicated to her father, Frank, who rarely missed a show and is probably here tonight.
Founding creator of the show and community visionary, Amy was Executive Director of Carbondale Arts (CA) for 12 years and oversaw The Mountain Fair for 19 years. In her tenure at CA she formed the Carbondale Creative District, created the Rio Grande ARTway, and elevated education programming. Amy now oversees the Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Fest, is working with the Town of Carbondale on the Town Center project, writes grants for La Clinica del Pueblo, and looks forward to supporting all the folks that continue to embody and carry on the creative vibe!
Laura has been involved in the fashion show since she moved to Carbondale in 2012. Laura worked for Carbondale Arts from 2013 - 2020, during which time she led the brand design for The Launchpad, Carbondale Creative District, and CCAH’s rebrand as Carbondale Arts. By day, Laura is the Creative Director for The League app by day, and by night, works on the projection design for this show and sews a collection while squeezing in as much soccer, volleyball, and skiing as she can.

The fashion show has grown into a beloved annual event, with coveted casting roles, professional producing, and tickets that sell out faster and faster each year. But the most essential piece to gaining this momentum and stature is the people –donating much of their time and talents.
Jessi (Mauldin) Hinker started volunteering for the Carbondale Fashion Show in 2014. In her first year she took on the role of lead stylist, and set a tone for a cohesive hair and makeup aesthetic, which had never been done before. A graduate of GSHS and Glenwood Beauty Academy, Jessi’s friendships and network within the hair and makeup industry allowed her to assemble a talented team of professional stylists, eager to volunteer their time and skills – as she did – with great pride. Not only did this elevate the Fashion Show standard, but also established a lasting culture of volunteerism. Every year without fail, Jessi and team were there to follow through with countless glow ups, styling upwards of 60 performers a night, and fostering a better backstage dynamic for the models and stylists.
Jessi’s last show was Oz in 2019. During the 3-year pandemic-induced hiatus of the Fashion Show Jessi courageously battled “The C.” Even in her most vulnerable state, she made herself a valuable resource for others on the same journey. Jessi was called home in November, 2024 at 39 years young. Her selflessness and ability to create a sense of belonging will inspire the Roaring Fork Valley communities for generations to come.

This Noir Lumière collection is an homage to the enigmatic world of Parisian film noir, where mystery, romance, and danger intertwine under the glow of street lamps and cigarette smoke. Drawing inspiration from the shadowy alleys, vintage glamour, and moody cinematography of mid-century French cinema, this collection blends structured tailoring with sensual drapery, evoking the allure of classic femme fatales and brooding anti-heroes.
