IRON Engines: the winning generation Power and performance coupled with durability and economy are the key features of these Deutz engines. Available as four cylinder 4038 cc and six cylinder 6057 cc units, these turbo intercooled powerplants feature high pressure (1400 bar) individual injection pumps and innovative combustion systems for excellent efficiency, amazing torque and low fuel consumption. Electronic engine management ensures optimum performance. The ECU uses input from a series of sensors to determine exactly the right amount of
fuel to inject into the cylinders. The result is an abundance of smooth power over a wide engine speed band. In addition, the highly efficient DONALDSON PowerCore cross-flow air filter with layered nanofibre elements eliminates all particles larger than 2 microns. Even the cooling system is technically advanced. A series of five radiators (engine coolant, transmission oil, diesel, intercooler and air conditioning condenser) obtains maximum cooling effect from minimum overall dimensions.
The exclusive radiator mounting system lets the radiators pivot outwards for easy cleaning and maintenance.

Shuttle lever
High speed, low cost The IRON transmission system has been specially designed for maximum efficiency in open field work, farmyard operations and road transport. In particular, since transport and interfield transfers represent such a large proportion of the work performed by this sort of tractor, the gearbox has been designed to give a top speed of 50 km/h. In countries where 50 km/h is not permitted, this means that 40 km/h can be reached even at economy engine speed, giving tremendous benefits in terms of fuel saving and component life. Gear management is also easy and intuitive, thanks to a practical, short-travel gear lever that lets you engage any of the 24 forward and 8 reverse gears with speed and precision. The transmission system provides 4 synchronised gears, 3 stage powershift and 2 electro-hydraulic speed ranges. One button on the front of the lever lets you change between the 4 synchronised gears without depressing the clutch pedal, while a second button, on the side of the lever, lets you shift between speed ranges with the tractor in motion. The new system not only eliminates the classical gear range selector but lets you shift quickly and easily from slow 4th to
fast 1st and back again. Just press the range change button, then the clutch pedal and move the gear lever from slow 4th to fast 1st position before releasing the clutch. The powershift system handles range changes automatically, selecting precisely the right gear for ground speed at the time the change is made. The Automatic Powershift function on the Hi-Line version makes driving even easier and performs automatic powershifting from any gear, to suit engine power and load. A special selector on the armrest lets you select “performance” or “economy” mode depending on whether you need maximum performance or low fuel consumption most. Finally, the hydraulic shuttle can be operated from a lever located just beneath the steering wheel or by means of push-buttons on the joystick. Direction changes can be made at any speed up to 12.5 km/h. The PTO is a four speed unit (540 - 540 Eco - 1000 - 1000 Eco) with a multidisc oil-bath clutch, electro-hydraulic operation, and push-button controls in the cab and on both rear mudguards. These features allow the PTO to drive a
wide variety of machinery, and ensure maximum efficiency in overcoming the load peaks inevitably encountered when operating heavy implements.

POWER Transforming power into productivity
Electronic power-lift console
The IRON range is equipped with an open centre hydraulic system with a 61 l/min pump and 3 double acting auxiliary control valves with flow control. The Hi-Line version features a closed centre hydraulic system with an 83 l/min variable displacement pump, electrohydraulic operation and flow control on all control valves with timed action on two, and a separate oil tank containing 35 litres of available oil. The electronically controlled lift has a capacity of up to 6200 kg and is equipped with an oscillation damping system to stop heavy implements pitching and causing loss of driving stability during high speed transport. A dedicated electronic unit with radar controls all lift functions. The system can operate in draft, depth, mix and
wheel slip mode, can limit lifting height, control descent speed and permit quick penetration, lock the implement during transport and provide hydraulic damping to the three point linkage. On the Hi-Line version the lift controls are integrated in the multi-functional joystick for greater convenience. Finally, to ensure maximum hydraulic efficiency and a long working life, the steering circuit has its own oil tank, separate from that of the lift and auxiliary control valves. A 3200 kg front lift with double acting cylinders and folding arms is also available.

Unbeatable comfort Life on board an IRON is simply in a different league. The automatic air conditioning system has an amazing 17 vents, adjustable in angle and flow. And as the operator, you benefit from a whole range of improvements, all designed to deliver superior comfort. Just look at the size of the cab! Though streamlined and compact on the outside (with an overall height of 260 cm with 34” tyres fitted), the cab is incredibly spacious inside. Width at seat level is 1540 mm, length 1630 mm, height 1515 mm, and an operating volume of nearly 3 m3. Acoustic insulation is another of the cab’s strong points. Sound absorbent materials and an extra insulating wall between engine and cab keep the driving position silent and vibration-free, and create the perfect conditions for long hours of productivity. The driving seat is equipped with pneumatic suspension that automatically adjusts its action according to your weight, and three generous storage compartments in the side consoles
provide you with ample space for your documents and personal effects. On the Hi-Line version, all the most important controls are grouped together in the multi-functional armrest and joystick for easy and intuitive control. And if this is not enough, you can also have your tractor equipped with front axle suspension for maximum grip and stability under all operating conditions, plus sprung or pneumatic cab suspension for a smooth ride over even the roughest ground.
