A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Dear Friends, I am so excited to share with you Soulpepper’s second delivery of 2014 programming, including a world premiere musical, presentations from community partners, music events, and a brand new festival. First the musical: Slaight Family Director of Music Mike Ross has created some truly remarkable musical settings to Edgar Lee Masters’ masterpiece Spoon River Antholog y. After rapturous response to workshops of the piece in our last two Cabaret Festivals, we are ready to share with you a fully-staged production, which you won’t want to miss. And don’t miss our seventh annual Global Cabaret Festival. This is my favourite event of the year when the entire Young Centre is animated with dozens of concerts featuring our country’s most brilliant artists in a casual, social setting. Be sure to check the website often for up-to-the minute details! Why Not Theatre’s A Brimful of Asha is back after a sell-out winter run, and Volcano’s The Four Horsemen Project, one of the most celebrated multi-disciplinary works to come out of this city in many years, is making Soulpepper its Toronto stop on an international tour. But that’s not all! This year we begin a new tradition at Soulpepper: The Soulpepper Family Festival. For the month of December and the first week of the New Year, Soulpepper will present a series of programs appropriate for all ages. As well as our celebrated productions of A Christmas Carol and Kim’s Convenience, which concludes its national tour back home at Soulpepper, we will present The Conjuror by master Canadian magician David Ben. Stay tuned for our Holiday Family Music Salon and free programming to be announced at a later date. There are so many brilliant and diverse artistic happenings at Soulpepper this year. We would love to share as many of them with you as possible! Yours,
A l b e r t S c h u l t z , Artistic Director
