SANGAM An Abhinav Mishra Wedding
It is not every day that a couturier revisits his childhood in the most vivid way just to find the perfect colour palette for his next collection, Abhinav Mishra does. He is often found reminiscing about his fascination with grand Indian weddings and how these memories have left an indelible mark on him. These memories can be seen in the way he sketches silhouettes, the way he painstakingly measures and plans the placement of each piece of mirror in a pattern so intricate, it’s no wonder he is lost in time and thought. Aren’t memories the richest catalyst for imagination, how a celebration must pan out, how the protagonists of a love story must look and most of all how they must feel. Each ensemble evokes that feeling of love, elan and opulence. This season sees the realisation of childhood memories steeped in nostalgia with a collection so visually rich, it can only be the essence of a union, a ‘Sangam’.
Pooja and Saajan’s love story reminds us that finding love the old-fashioned way still exists. In an era of online dating, they met in line for donuts. Their shared love for donuts led to an exchange of numbers, study dates, and a flourishing relationship. After graduate school, they faced the challenge of a long-distance relationship, with Pooja in Tampa completing her pharmacy residency and Saajan starting his dental career in Los Angeles. Despite the distance, their love grew through monthly plane rides and nightly phone calls. In November 2022, a typical weekend trip to Los Angeles turned into a life-changing event. During a hike at Griffith Park to see the Hollywood Sign, Saajan proposed. The perfect day concluded with a family dinner at their favorite restaurant, Bacari. Pooja and Saajan envisioned a wedding that blended tradition with their unique style. The multi-day celebration at the Hyatt Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, FL, was meticulously planned. The Sangeet night featured traditional Garba and Raas dances, with performances by family members and the couple. The bohemian-themed night saw Pooja and Saajan dressed as “Indian Barbie and Ken,” with guests in pastel shades. Both wore outfits by designer Shyamal & Bhumika. The wedding day was filled with excitement as Pooja prepared with her bridesmaids, all in coordinating pastel lehengas. Pooja dazzled in a blush pink and gold Sabyasachi lehenga, adorned with intricate embroidery and traditional gold jewelry. Saajan looked regal in a cream sherwani with gold detailing and a matching turban. The Baraat was a lively procession with Saajan arriving on a white horse, accompanied by dhol players and dancing family members. The ceremony took place on the lawn, with soft sitar and tabla music creating a serene ambiance. The acrylic Mandaap, adorned with pastel flo-

rals, provided an elegant setting for the rituals. The priest conducted the ceremony with reverence, explaining each step to the guests. The exchange of garlands, seven steps around the holy fire, and tying of the mangalsutra brought tears of joy to many. Pooja and Saajan’s heartfelt vows were a testament to their journey and commitment. The ceremony concluded with the couple being showered with rose petals as they took their first steps as husband and wife. The reception was a “Wonderland” theme brought to life with impeccable detail. Guests were transported to a whimsical world of oversized flowers, floating teacups, and vibrant floral tablescapes. The mossy green backdrop behind the blush-colored sweetheart couch on the stage, surrounded by trees and oversized roses, set a magical scene. The evening began with the couple’s grand entrance and first dance. The dance floor quickly filled with family and friends enjoying a mix of Bollywood hits and international chart-toppers. Heartfelt speeches from loved ones, sharing cherished memories and blessings, added to the emotional atmosphere. Pooja and Saajan surprised their guests with a choreographed dance performance, showcasing their love for dance and each other. The culinary experience featured a fusion of traditional Indian and contemporary dishes, catering to diverse palates. As the night progressed, the celebration continued with a live DJ, photo booths. Pooja and Saajan’s wedding was a beautiful blend of tradition, love, and whimsy, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who attended. It was a celebration of their love story and a testament to the grandeur of Indian weddings, where every moment is crafted with love, care, and a touch of magic.

Priyal and Anup initially matched on the app Dil Mil but quickly found out that they were in the same medical school and had mutual friends. Their first date, which was supposed to be a quick meetup for coffee, lasted several hours. Priyal was charmed by Anup’s sweeping romantic gestures and goofiness, while Anup was enamored by Priyal’s quiet but quick wit and fun banter. Although they endured stretches of long distance during their relationship, their love for each other never wavered.
Under the guise of a party for a friend, Anup led Priyal to the Hamptoms for a long weekend. On a secluded beach at sunset with only the sound of waves crashing on the rocks, he proposed to a completely surprised Priyal. It was romantic, intimate, and beautiful. They celebrated with a romantic dinner at a nearby restaurant with a beach front view.
The three day wedding took place in New Jersey, where their love first began. The Mehndi event was the first of the festivities. Priyal picked a patchwork lehenga with deep, vibrant colors that complemented the bright decor.
Vibrant yellow was the theme for the Haldi and was seen in all the details from the outfit to the flower petals. There was a palpable sense of joy and playfulness to this event; the bride’s brother and young cousins surprised her with a water gun attack in addition to the traditional turmeric paste.
One of Priyal’s favorite outfits was the one

she wore for the Sangeet. Her sharara suit with jardozi work was accented with a traditional gold necklace and earrings gifted by her grandmother. “I loved paying homage to my grandmother and the juxtaposition of a trendy, modern outfit with a more traditional piece,” recalls Priyal. Priyal and Anup’s outfits were custom-made by California-based designer Jayshree Piple.
The highlight of the wedding festivities was the wedding day itself, which was held at the Tides Estate. The lush, enchanting outdoor garden formed the backdrop of the ceremony. The theme was an elegant Indowestern affair that would tell the story of their love and their time together, a day that featured all the
elements that make up Priyal and Anup. One such detail was the mid ceremony snack - Salted Caramel ice cream from Jeni’s, a cherished date spot when they lived in Washington D.C.
The reception was a black tie affair with a plated dinner from Chef Gaurav Anand, featuring elevated takes on traditional Indian cuisine. Priyal and Anup’s favorite moment was their choreographed first dance, which was a bhangra-ballroom fusion to Zayn and Sia’s “Dusk till Dawn” that incorporated a tabla remix by Nihal Singh specially made for the occasion. “We wanted to dance to a song that fused both American and Indian cultures in a way that would remain special to us,” Anup fondly remembers. Dancing lasted until the late hours of the night and was the perfect end to a perfect week.

Guests settled into their seats in front of the Bronx Zoo Center, a palace-like edifice built in 1908, adorned with statues of elephants and home to rhinos and monitor lizards. As the quartet began to play a string rendition of “We’re in Heaven,” by Bryan Adams, a resident peacock flew over the guests to the back of the ceremony, unofficially announcing that the ceremony had begun.
Bushra Mollick and Erik Goyenechea met in 2016 at NYC Emergency Management, a government agency with a mission to help New Yorkers before, during, and after emergencies. The native New Yorkers sat together as communications specialists, sending integral emergency messaging to New Yorkers daily. From creating Ready New York content to sharing romantic texts, the two were quickly smitten with each other after sharing their first kiss in the rain by the Rockefeller Center Tree.
“Don’t worry, I’m going to marry you one day,” Erik said to Bushra, after she shared her reservations about dating a colleague. The two not-so-secretly dated for six years before Erik proposed in front of his Bronx apartment building.
Erik grew up in Riverdale, and Bushra was raised in Queens. Though they lived a borough apart for much of their lives, Erik went to Riverdale Country School, and Bushra went to the Bronx High School of Science. Who’s to say the two never crossed paths on the BX10 bus?
As the two planned their wedding, they were mindful to keeping it local out of respect to older families who may have trouble traveling.
After researching multiple venues, they decided to wed at The Bronx Zoo. The zoo was special to both as Erik went to Bronx Zoo camp as a child, and Bushra took an animal science course there in the 11th grade.
Additionally, part of the celebrations costs would be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Of Basque ancestry, Erik’s parents are Puerto-Rican and Cuban. Bushra is entirely Bengali and was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Bengali-Latino couple
BUSHRA + ERIK | NEW YORK
worked to ensure that all aspects of the wedding were inclusive to both cultures. South Asian clothing was encouraged, but on the dance floor, Bhangra and Bad Bunny radiated through the hall.
After exchanging vows and sharing excerpts from the Bible and the Quran, guests were escorted through the Madagascar House, an exhibit with lemurs, tortoises, and the shy fossa. The beautifully dressed friends and family were handed glasses of champagne and wine as they exited to the Sea Lion Pool, where the official cocktail hour took place.
The one of many residential peacocks that resided over the ceremony returned to greet guests and pose for photos. Bushra joked that is was the spirit of her late father checking in on the party.
After rounds of champagne, vegan tacos, and tomato soup shooters, the guests walked to their final destination of the night, Schiff Hall, a building reserved for parties, conferences, and more. What was once a lion exhibit now hosts a large bar with a large lion statue overlooking the dance floor. The tables were adorned with bright fuschia and purple flowers, and multi-colored peacock feathers. Each table number was framed and designed by the couple and included on of their favorite animals, whether it be a red-panda, snow leopard, or majestic orca.
Following a series of entrances by the bridal parties and immediate friends and family, Erik and his friends put on a show-stopping performance to the Oscar-award winning “Naatu Naatu” song. Bushra and her friends followed up with soirée of Bollywood singles, including a solo dance to “Nache le” by her sister. After the couple danced to “Head Over Heels,” by Tears for Fears, the dance floor was flooded with guests moving to a diverse mix of Bollywood hits, reggaeton classics, and millennial tunes. Guests were greeted with a do-it-yourself instant noodle bar after hours of dancing.
Who would have thought this Bangladeshi-American, Queens girl with an obsession for birds, fuchka, and public messaging would be soulmates with a Puerto-Rican-Cuban, lasagna-lover, Riverdale Country boy from the Boogie Down Bronx?

Growing up, I think most little girls dream of their wedding day, but I believe that only the luckiest women get to witness the entirety of their vision come to life Our journey began with my then-fiancé and now-husband planning the most incredible surprise proposal, which included both of our immediate family members. That trip made one thing clear: for me, it was important to plan festivities that honored our Gujarati-Indian traditions and reflected the deep bonds we shared as a family.
To give authenticity to our cause, we took a trip to India as a family for what is arguably one of the most important parts of a wedding: the shopping! I believe that outfits symbolizing cultural heritage and personal style truly set the tone for the celebration. Rather than subjecting everyone to neutral tones, we found it helpful to have a color palette for our close family members and friends to choose from. Our palette featured deep, rich autumn hues that paid homage to the fall season in which our wedding was to take place. For myself, my husband, and our close family members, we chose outfits with regal bearings and imagery of nature which were intricately woven into the fabrics.
After completing our shopping, we immediately began to work on the next steps. Executing an Indian wedding is no joke, especially one with five days of nonstop events. We needed to enlist the help of some creative minds, and we were truly fortunate to find incredibly talented vendors who guided us through this process. There are certain vendors that play an integral role in Indian weddings, and we knew right from the start that one of the most important decisions we would make would be choosing the cinematography and photography team. Having seen the work of Darkroom Doctors Studios at a friend’s wedding reception, I knew exactly that it was their team I wanted to work with. Their creativity, hard work and attention to detail resulted in the most stunning pictures and videos. From our Engagement Photoshoot in New York to our Wedding festivities in Toronto, we had an absolute blast working with their entire team. From the candid moments of laughter to the emotional exchanges under our floral Mandap, they managed to immortalize every fleeting expression of not
HEMANI + VIRAJ | TORONTO
only myself and my husband but also our families and friends. Their keen eye for composition and lighting, coupled with a deep understanding of our cultural nuances, ensured that each shot was not just a photograph but a work of art. The Next Day Edit Highlight Film they put together for us at the Reception made us laugh, cry and relive our Wedding events all over again surrounded by loved ones - an absolute icing on the cake and a lovely culmination of all the hard work we had put into planning our whirlwind fairytale Wedding week!
Another important decision I had to make in the planning stages was who I would choose to help me look and feel my best throughout the most important days of my life. For a woman, her hair and makeup artist is basically her right hand throughout her wedding. I am blessed to have found Harleen by pure luck on Instagram, and she turned out to be an absolute magician. With her meticulous touch and an expert eye for color, she was able to accentuate my features while respecting my preferences for a more modern, “cleaner” look. From the expertly applied eyeliner to the perfect shade of lipstick, she made sure every detail was thoughtfully considered to enhance my natural beauty. Her calm demeanor and professional expertise eased my pre-wedding jitters, allowing me to fully embrace the joy of the moment.
I still remember walking into the days of our wedding thinking how fast the time had passed and how hard our families and we had worked with our vendors to bring everything to life. Our Mandap had been transformed into a serene oasis with lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and delicate vines that were an extension of our greenhouse venue. All that was left was for me to walk towards the love of my life and seal the deal. Today, when I look back on that day, I now know that what made our wedding special was not the glitz and the glam (although it was nice), but rather how effortlessly our two families became one. Somewhere deep inside, I knew that the little girl who dreamt of her wedding day was mad with happiness because she was able to see her vision come to life in the most beautiful way. My heart will forever be filled with gratitude for every moment, every blessing, and every person who made it so special.

Destination wedding

Our team of specially trained wedding designers are well versed with the needs of South Asian weddings; working hand in hand with you to ensure your wedding dreams, become a reality. Your destination wedding at our resorts will be a celebration of pure joy, sure to set the tone for a long and happy life together.
Our love story began at a cozy downtown patisserie called Thierry on February 10, 2017, as we embarked on a journey that would forever shape our lives. It all began with a simple greeting and a shared smile, but as we settled into our seats and our conversation flowed, time seemed to slip away.
Our stories intertwined effortlessly, revealing layers of shared values, beliefs, aspirations, and a deep-seated love for family. In those hours of conversation, over the smallest pieces of cake that should not have taken over three hours to eat, we quickly realized our strong connection that came from our shared values, beliefs, goals and dreams.
One unforgettable first date turned into quickly moving in together within the year, starting our family by adding a playful puppy into our lives, and then getting engaged in the most breathtakingly romantic experience on top of a mountain in Maui at sunset on September 4, 2022.
When it came to planning our wedding for July 28, 2023, we envisioned an intimate and romantic outdoor ceremony to celebrate our love, as we walked back down the aisle to a song that quickly became the theme to our big day, “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).” The lyrics perfectly captured the essence of our journey together — filled with moments of laughter, shared dreams and a love that grows stronger with each passing day. We paired this with an elegant, modern-day Gatsby reception to show our love for style and sophistication.
In the warm glow of a breathtakingly beautiful sunny Vancouver day, under a romantic archway full of lush white blossoms, we sealed our forever among an outpouring of love and joy from 80 of our closest family and friends who have witnessed our growth as individuals and as a couple.
We made the heartfelt decision to have a dear family friend officiate our wedding, to ensure our ceremony was personal, authentic, and filled with love and cherished memories. Other special aspects we included in our wedding day to help create a wonderfully relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests were a live singer, lawn games galore, and a dessert cart with delicious bite sized treats and traditional chai.
Devon and I wanted to be able to gaze into each other’s eyes, hold hands, exchange heartfelt vows and share kisses and intimate embraces during our wedding ceremony. Recognizing that these intimate moments wouldn’t align with the customs of a Gurdwaras setting, we opted instead for an outdoor ceremony. This choice allowed us
RUMEN + DEVON | VANCOUVER
the freedom to express our love and commitment to each other in a way that was deeply meaningful and personal to both of us.
Another big factor that played a part in us wanting to have a western style wedding ceremony was the deep bond we have with our dog Chloe, who we wanted to integrate into our special day. We decided on not having a large bridal party at all, and only had Chloe there beside us as our flower girl. Chloe’s matching lace and pearl dress to my wedding gown definitely stole the show, as she ran down the aisle into Devon’s arms. She even had two custom made lehengas for the maiyan and choora ceremony that complimented my traditional outfits. Ultimately, our wedding day was made even more meaningful and memorable with Chloe by our side. She brought a sense of comfort, happiness, and completeness to our celebration, reminding us of the simple joys and unconditional love that enrich our lives everyday.
When it came to our wedding reception, we aimed to create a joyful and inclusive atmosphere, uniting our friends and family together for the first time. We chose to mark our first moments as being announced husband and wife by entering the reception and signaling all of our 200 guests to join us on the dance floor. This truly was one of the biggest highlights of our evening, with almost every single guest in attendance having the time of their lives alongside us to the song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. This truly set the tone for a very memorable and festive occasion.
Devon and I wanted to honor the love and inspiration provided by our parents and grandparents, who have served as strong role models in our lives. To commemorate this, we set up a special entrance table at our reception. On this table, we displayed photos of our parents and grandparents from either their own weddings or their initial meetings and memorable moments. This gesture not only celebrated the enduring love in our families but also paid tribute to the foundations of love and commitment that shaped our own relationship.
As we embark on this new chapter of our lives, we carry with us the belief that our love story is just beginning. In of all our wedding events as a celebration of love’s ability to transform ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. In each other we have found our forever home — a place where love booms endlessly, joy knows no bounds, and our happily ever after unfolds with each passing day.

Rumit and Anjali fell in love with the Quinta Real Hotel in Oaxaca, drawn by its historical significance and stunning architecture. They used the Jardín de Naranjas for Anjali’s haldi ceremony and La Capilla for their wedding ceremony. The reception took place at the expansive Cardenal Social Venue, a space that allowed them to bring their creative vision to life.
The proposal happened in the spring of 2022, during a trip to Florida as they were apartment hunting. Rumit, waiting for a photographer, tried to stall their walk on the beach by saying it was too hot outside. When Anjali finally insisted they go for a walk, Rumit began speaking about their relationship and then surprised her by getting down on one knee with a ring.
From the outset, they knew they wanted a destination wedding, but deciding on the location took time. They considered many places, from Bali to Portugal, but eventually chose Mexico to accommodate their grandparents. Wanting a unique location, they settled on Oaxaca after watching an episode of “Somebody Feed Phil,” where they were inspired by the local culture and the similarities to their Indian heritage. With Rumit busy in medical school, Anjali’s mother and their planner, Friederike, took the lead in planning, which, despite some stress, was an enjoyable process for Anjali as she focused on the details that made the weekend special.
The wedding day was filled with emotions, beginning with a private first look where Anjali and Rumit shared a quiet moment together. The Baraat was lively, with Rumit’s family dancing their way to the venue, and Anjali’s bridesmaids attempting to steal his shoe in a playful tradition. Walking down the aisle, Anjali felt nothing but excitement. The ceremony, beautifully conducted by a Hindu Pandit, was both meaningful and accessible, with explanations provided in English for all guests. The day continued with a spirited Meet & Greet party, where the DJ had everyone dancing, and Rumit even surprised Anjali by joining in a family dance performance.
RUMIT + ANJALI | MEXICO
For the wedding ceremony, Anjali envisioned a soft, romantic atmosphere, with light pink and white florals complementing the natural beauty of the venue. Later, for the reception, they wanted a more dramatic vibe. The celebration kicked off with a traditional Oaxacan Calenda, where everyone danced through the streets to the venue. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with mezcal popsicles, hors d’oeuvres, and signature cocktails. The reception decor featured a wavy tent, elegant table settings, and a neon sign that read “Just Looking Like a Wow!” which added a fun, modern touch. The dinner was a four-course feast of modern Oaxacan cuisine, followed by late-night food stalls serving churros, tacos, and freshly made potato chips. One of the couple’s favorite moments was their grand entrance to King’s “Maan Meri Jaan (Afterlife),” where they were met with cheers from their excited guests.
Anjali and Rumit’s wedding wardrobe was a blend of tradition and style, with Anjali wearing a fuchsia silk Kanjeevaram saree for the ceremony and Rumit in a sleek ivory sherwani. For the Meet & Greet, Anjali chose a customized lehenga, and for the reception, she wore a lavender floral lehenga followed by a two-tone maroon butterfly style lehenga, while Rumit looked sharp in a Ted Baker suit.
One of the highlights of their wedding week was a mezcal field tour they organized for friends, which helped kick off the festivities and allowed guests to bond. They also arranged guided tours of Oaxaca for their guests, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to explore the city and its rich culture. Anjali’s advice for future brides is to trust their instincts, especially when planning from afar, and to visit the destination beforehand to fully immerse themselves in the experience before the wedding weekend.
Rumit and Anjali’s wedding was a celebration of love, culture, and the union of two families, creating memories that they and their guests will cherish for a lifetime.

NIVA + VISHAL | TEXAS
Niva and Vishal first met at the Sheraton McKinney during Vishal’s cousin’s wedding. Niva, who had grown up knowing the bride through their tight-knit DFW Gujarati community, caught Vishal’s eye while she was dancing at the reception. He turned to his cousin Reshma and joked, “Be my wingwoman.” Later, at the lobby bar, Reshma played her part perfectly, striking up a conversation with Niva. When Niva asked how long Reshma and Vishal had been together, the two cousins burst into laughter, took their shots, and moved on.
Their paths crossed again at the after-party, where both reached for a burrito at the same time. Vishal, unfamiliar with Taco Bueno, asked where Taco Bell was, and Niva playfully replied, “You don’t come to Texas and not respect the Taco Bueno!” This sparked a lively debate over their favorite fast food, leaving a lasting impression on both. Though Vishal added Niva on social media the next day, they didn’t stay in touch—until Christmas Day 2018.
That holiday, Vishal posted a video of himself and his nephew, which caught Niva’s eye. Recognizing him as the “Taco Bell” guy from the wedding, she liked the post, commented, and sent him a DM. This simple interaction led to a deep conversation about family, and within days, they exchanged numbers and began texting each other extensively. On January 5th, Vishal asked Niva out on a FaceTime date, which lasted four hours and went exceptionally well.
Their first in-person date took place on January 18th, 2019, during a layover in Boston, where Vishal picked Niva up and took her to a veggie-friendly restaurant. Despite not including Taco Bell or Taco Bueno, the date confirmed what they had already felt—this
was something special. After the date, Niva went on a three-week trip with friends, but their connection only grew stronger as they continued texting. Upon her return, Vishal greeted her with Taco Bell, and the next day, he asked Niva to be his girlfriend in a unique way—by gifting her a Dallas Cowboys jersey, despite being a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan.
They dated long-distance for over a year, navigating the challenges of living in different cities but growing closer with each visit. The pandemic allowed them to live in the same city, strengthening their bond further. Vishal proposed to Niva in California on her 30th birthday trip, surrounded by her family and a hidden photographer, making it a moment she would never forget.
Their wedding was a reflection of their modern values and love for nature. They chose a progressive, English-speaking female priestess to officiate their ceremony, ensuring that all rituals were meaningful and inclusive. Niva’s dream of an outdoor wedding was brought to life indoors, with a magnificent tree serving as the mandap, surrounded by chandeliers, candles, florals, and waterfalls, creating a magical garden-like atmosphere inside the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
Niva’s bridal entrance was a perfect blend of East and West. She walked down the aisle with her parents, who then stepped aside so she could make a dramatic solo entrance, her long veil and train fluffed just right. Breaking tradition, Vishal met her three-quarters of the way down the aisle, lifting her veil and kissing her on the forehead. Together, they walked hand in hand to the mandap, ready to begin their modern, equal partnership in a truly unforgettable Indian fairytale wedding.

DEVIKA + SAMEER | MISSISSAUGA
It t started with a swipe. Sameer came across my profile on The League in 2018, however, the dating app only showed five profiles to each user per day, so he was informed there was a waitlist before I would see his profile.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, he noticed that my Instagram was linked and messaged me there directly. Texts quickly turned into hour-long phone calls. We bonded over immigrating to Canada as kids, being vegetarians and foodies, loving live music, exploring new places, our professional ambitions, and even our birthdays (they’re just a day apart)!
Three years later, Sameer proposed on a trip to New York City on the 100th floor of The Edge, a rooftop with a magical view of the entire city, and I spent the next year and a half meticulously planning our fairytale wedding.
I always knew I wanted to have an outdoor ceremony given our love of nature, and so the hunt for the perfect outdoor venue began. Harding Waterfront Estate was only the second place we visited, but we instantly fell in love. With expansive property grounds backing onto Lake Ontario and housing a classic 1930s era mansion, the venue also provided full in-house Indian catering. For such big foodies, good food was of utmost importance. We had all our favourite breakfast foods - poha, pakoras, croissants, and pastries, and a full Indian buffet with the most delicious kheer for lunch.
On a trip to India the year before, my mom and I found my elegant bridal lehenga at Sudhir Bhai Saree Wala, featuring a woodland scene with peacocks, flowers, and doves on the skirt (another nod to our outdoor ceremony), and had it custom-made in the perfect shade of red with detailed pastel and pearl embroidery. We chose an ivory sherwani with similar embroidery for Sameer, with our parents and the bridal party complementing in shades of mint green and baby pink pastels.
Tanzy’s Decor set up the most beautiful mandap in the back of the mansion which overlooked the
pond, decorated with green foliage and flowers in shades of red, pink, and white (matching exquisitely with my lehenga), with the pièce de résistance being the floral canopy under which we exchanged our vows and took our pheras.
Sameer arrived in style with the baraat in a convertible, dancing his way down the long driveway to the mansion and our bridal party, made up of our dearest friends, followed suit. Since my grandmother was the only grandparent physically present at our wedding, we wanted her to play an important role, so she was our ring bearer. I then made my way down the stairs and to Sameer, led by my younger brother. I walked down the aisle to ‘Ishq Bina’, a song so sentimental to Sameer that it brought him to tears. The entire scene was something out of my dreams - I will never forget it. And thanks to Strokes Photography, I’ll always have our candid, timeless photos to look back upon.
For the grand finale, we hosted our reception the next day, centered on a French garden theme. Sameer chose a classic 3-piece black suit from Suit Supply, while I complimented him in a lavender gown with pearl embroidery from Seema Gujral. Walking into our reception together, surrounded by all our friends and family, was a surreal feeling. We shared our first dance amidst dry ice and glitter sparklers, after which our guests lit the dance floor on fire, with the best beats from Empire Entertainment. It was truly a night to remember!
Looking back, I now realize our love story didn’t start with a swipe. It started long before either of us were born, a testament to how the stars aligned, how two people who grew up in different cities, speaking different languages, with no mutual connections, happened to meet and fall in love. Our love is a reflection of the generations of love and sacrifice that came before us - our parents, who moved across the world to give their children a better life and taught us how to love, so that we could find our way to each other. A more poetic person than I might say, ‘Isn’t it just so pretty to think, all along there was some invisible string, tying you to me?’

NARMATHA + NICOLAS | ITALY
Walking down the aisle to greet my future husband, surrounded by the stunning beauty of Lake Como, I knew this would be the best day of my life. Nicolas and I met at university while studying Dentistry, and our relationship blossomed from a close friendship. From the moment we started dating, I knew he was the one I wanted to marry.
Our wedding was a true reflection of our journey together. With Nicolas being French, our five years in Spain, and our current life in London, a European wedding felt like the perfect fit. Lake Como had always been my dream wedding destination—its serene beauty and majestic mountains provided an idyllic backdrop for our vows. As a British-Tamil Sri Lankan, I cherished the idea of blending my cultural heritage with Nicolas’s European roots in this picturesque location.
We instantly fell in love with our venue, Villa Pizzo. It encapsulated quintessential Italian charm, with manicured gardens, a stunning forest walk, and a terrace overlooking the lake. It was our dream venue, and we were thrilled to welcome guests from 21 countries to celebrate with us. It was important that every guest experienced something truly special.
For our welcome party, we created a fusion of a traditional Mendhi night, a French pre-wedding soirée, and an Italian lakeside aperitivo. Set right on the lake, the party was vibrant with Mendhi elements like floral arches and colorful throws, paired with Italian finger foods, pizza, French cheeses, and of course, wine.
For the wedding ceremony, I envisioned a traditional Sri Lankan Hindu wedding on the shores of Lake Como. We embraced rich colors, elegant sarees, regal jewelry, and sophisticated makeup. The reception was a timeless yet glamorous Franco-Italian affair, complete with speedboats and chandeliers in a glasshouse.
Every detail was thoughtfully considered. We wanted to ensure our diverse guests understood the
ceremony, so we provided flowers for their hair, wedding programs in English and French, and personalized wooden fans. Our bespoke wedding logo featured on all signage, Photo Booth images, and even on non-spill straw cups for the dance floor. The table settings were elegant, incorporating textures and materials like vellum menus, embossed cards, and matte yardstick table numbers.
As style enthusiasts, we took great pleasure in designing our wedding attire. For the welcome party, I chose an Indo-Western outfit in seafoam green, lilac, and orange, with hand-stitched floral embellishments. My vision for the Hindu wedding was a modern entrance look and a traditional second saree, which I found at Ranya Sarees. My first saree was a princess-like mauve-pink, while the second was a unique yellow-green that complemented Lake Como’s greenery. Red Dot Jewels in London created bespoke jewelry, including personalized Jimmiki earrings for my second look. My reception outfit, designed by Ekta Solanki, was a peachypink ensemble with hand-stitched iridescent stone and thread work, topped with a feather cape.
Nico’s outfits were equally tailored to perfection. His welcome party suit and reception tuxedo were bespoke, crafted by Suit Supply. The teal green blazer matched my outfit, and his off-white reception tuxedo channeled James Bond vibes. Both featured our wedding date stitched into the collar. For the wedding ceremony, Nico wore an ivory sherwani with elegant threadwork, designed by Mave in Toronto. We incorporated two shawls—one sage green with mauve pink floral embellishments for the first look, and an ivory shawl with gold details for the second—to create distinct looks for different moments of the ceremony. Nico’s groomsmen and my bridesmaids were dressed to match our outfits, creating a perfectly coordinated wedding party.
Overall, our wedding was a beautiful blend of cultures, styles, and personal touches, making it an unforgettable celebration of our love.

SUNAINA + UMAR | TURKEY
Our story began in March 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland, during cherry blossom season. We first noticed each other at an engagement party, connecting over a shared love for dancing. Both living in New York City, our bond deepened from our first date at a bowling alley to making it official over a game of pool. We quickly discovered our common interests—travel, coffee, and board games (with Sunaina being the more competitive one).
Coming from different backgrounds and religions, we faced challenges with our families, but our strong connection made it worth the effort. With my Dadi’s blessings, Umar proposed to me in October 2022 in Central Park, in a rustic gazebo known as “a treehouse for dreaming.” I said yes.
In April 2024, we celebrated our love with a threeday, seven-event Hindu-Muslim wedding in Bodrum, Turkey, bringing together family from India, Pakistan, England, and the U.S.
The weekend began with my mehndi, where I incorporated elements that symbolized our journey— NYC’s skyline, peacocks representing my Indian heritage, cherry blossoms from when we met, and a bracelet with my Nani and Dadi’s names. Of course, I hid Umar’s name, writing it in Hindi and Urdu along the branches.
That evening, we welcomed our guests with games on the hotel terrace. We played musical chairs with dares, inviting seven representatives from each side, with challenges like taking selfies with the bride or groom’s mom. The bride’s side won, although we might have cheated a little! The night continued with singing and dancing, a perfect start to the weekend.
The next morning began with the traditional choora ceremony, where I wore a lehnga made from my mom’s wedding sari, and she also wore a sari made from hers. It was a full-circle mother-daughter moment. Afterward, we had our Haldi, where my cousins playfully attacked Umar, and my mom got me back. Bride vs. groom games followed, with a competitive tug of war and an all-out water balloon
fight that ended with us being thrown into the pool.
That night, we celebrated our Sangeet with performances from friends, family, and colleagues. My Masi’s tribute to my Nani, dancing to “Sheila Ki Jawani,” was particularly special. The theme was jungle meets Morocco, with shisha, Indo-house music, and a lively atmosphere. We got everyone on the dance floor with a rail gadi, pulling everyone into a train that ended in a dance-off. The night was filled with laughter, limbo (even Dadi joined in), mini golf, Turkish coffee, and the famous Turkish ice-cream trickster. My sisters seized the opportunity to steal my husband’s shoes while he was crowd-surfing—a Sangeet tradition on his side.
On the morning of our wedding, my youngest Masi surprised me with an emotional first look, and meanwhile, our moms shared a special moment in their personalized dressing gowns. For the Hindu ceremony, I walked down the aisle to my Nani’s voice singing “Lathe Di Chadar,” with my Dadi as my flower girl. For the Nikkah, Umar’s Dadis came down the aisle with bubble guns, and we ended the ceremony with confetti cannons.
After the ceremonies, Umar and I took a quiet moment together on our balcony, soaking in the significance of the day. It was a beautiful way to honor both of our upbringings.
We began our reception with a shadow dance and entered the lit-up pool deck alongside fire dancers. My dad’s speech started with a letter he wrote to me when I was born, and our father-daughter dance to a song he wrote brought tears to everyone’s eyes. My father-in-law’s light-hearted stories and our siblings’ speeches had everyone laughing and crying, with a touch of magic.
Cutting the cake on the dance floor, we watched the fireworks light up the Aegean Sea, a perfect backdrop to our celebration. We danced the night away under the stars, locking eyes on the dance floor just like we did six years ago—only now, with the joy of beginning our new chapter as husband and wife.

SNEHA + ABHI | TEXAS
We often share that our love story began with a “like” and a leap of faith. But we joke about how some strategic “location-fishing” led to our match on Hinge. Sneha, believing that she shouldn’t limit her opportunities for love to just Houston, had recently expanded her radius to include multiple cities. Meanwhile, Abhi was living his best life in Austin, unaware that his perfect match was reeling him in from 165 miles away.
After two virtual dates, Sneha convinced her friend Jaime to make a slight (read: significant) detour to Austin en route to Dallas. Jaime, the ultimate wingwoman, agreed, despite Austin being off-course. The plan? Jaime would drop Sneha off for a date, then continue to Dallas while Sneha caught a flight later that evening to meet Jaime and her girlfriends for a fun weekend. A risky move? Absolutely. Worth it? Without a doubt.
Our first in-person meeting was nothing short of magical. We kicked things off with cocktails at P6 overlooking the lake with the sun setting on Austin’s skyline. From there, we zoomed around downtown on scooters, ate delicious food, and talked non-stop, letting a few sparks fly.
By the time Sneha had to be dropped at the airport, it was clear we had stumbled upon something special. What followed was a series of whirlwind weekends, shuttling between Houston and Austin, with a few out-of-state adventures thrown in for good measure. Time seemed to speed up as we spent more moments together, and a few years of memories and milestones quickly went by, culminating in a spontaneous decision to book a trip to Italy. We’d always wanted to go, and a good flight deal was all the convincing we needed. Fast forward to our Italian escapade—two weeks packed with pasta, picturesque views, and plans for our first professional photoshoot. Each day had a different activity, with a few surprise activities we had planned for each other. Abhi had planned his surprise activity in the Amalfi town of Positano.
On the morning of May 15th, Abhi suggested an early trip to Positano Beach to take some pictures of the famous view of the town before the planned surprise activity. Armed with a tripod and a sense of anticipation, we arrived at an almost deserted
beach, save for a few photographers and morning walkers. As we were setting up for a picture, one of the photographers approached and suggested using his camera and giving us the photos for free. Suspicious? Yes. Sneha was catching on.
When the photographer had Sneha look away, then back at Abhi, there he was, down on one knee, asking the most important question of our lives. The ensuing moments were a blur of joy and tears, captured perfectly by our impromptu photographer. Despite the looming rain forecast, the weather held out just long enough for our proposal. As soon as Abhi slipped the ring on Sneha’s finger, we were greeted with a gentle drizzle—romantic, right?
Our Italian adventure turned into a lifelong memory, marking the beginning of our forever. And the next part is when the fun really began - wedding planning!
Our four-day wedding took place at locations in both downtown Austin and nearby Dripping Springs in late April. It all began with the Haldi and Mehendi festivities at the Arlo, where we wove an Italian flair into our celebrations as a nod to our time abroad. The following evening we held our Sangeet at the Fairmont in downtown Austin. With Sneha owning a bespoke wedding choreography business herself, Sunrise Dance, everyone knew they had to bring their A-game with their performances. The following morning was our wedding ceremony, surrounded by the beauty of the Texas hill country at our venue, Camp Lucy. The grand finale - our reception - held a speakeasy theme. With the attendees refreshed from the ceremony the day before and ready to party, the reception burst into life, becoming a grand celebration.
Our team of amazing vendors, family members, and friends that all came together to bring our dream wedding to life. We cannot thank everyone enough!
From a “like” on Hinge to a proposal on the Amalfi Coast to our four-day dream wedding, our journey has been a blend of spontaneity, serendipity, and a lot of love.

ISHITA + RICH | FLORIDA
Iam Ishita Shah, and I’m beyond ecstatic to have been recently bound by marriage to my best friend, Richard Mills (Rich), on January 13th of 2024. We met at a local Crossfit gym– as we both highly value our health and fitness– and needless to say, we noticed each other pretty early on. We happened to be attending class at the same time of day for a while and became friendly with each other. Outside of crossfit, I love to go on long runs with my Doberman, Nala, and I would post her on my story weekly after our run. Rich soon asked if he could join us for a run some time, and I was overjoyed to accept his request. It seems he had a great time because he invited me to dinner with him right after! We got along really well, as if we had met in another life. It was a breath of fresh air to meet someone who shares similar interests and the excitement to accomplish their goals. We were simply glad to be together– we instantly lit up each other’s lives and developed a passion that made us excited to explore life together.
In 2022, Rich and I took a vacation to Sedona, Arizona for New Years. We thought it would be a fantastic idea to take a hot air balloon around one day to see Arizona from a different perspective, but I didn’t know Rich’s plan was to propose in the hot air balloon! I was surprised but incredibly thrilled, just simply over the moon to have then finally shared a promise with the man I love that we would bind each other through marriage and really begin our life together.
Fortunately, we already had the “vision” for our wedding in mind. One of our first vacations as a couple had been to Key Largo, and we absolutely fell in love with the location (and with each other as well). We adored the tropical theme– a chic island feel without the ballroom wedding theme that we always saw as tacky.
As we began thinking about planning our wedding, we were very thorough in our research selecting a vendor. We wanted to make the best choice we
could, selecting the vendor with the most expertise and understanding for our vision. I went through many reviews and phone and zoom calls, and I felt very confident in choosing Jennifer Matteo Event Planning in the end. Jennifer already had specific vendors in mind, and she fit her planning and all of her vendors to our vision perfectly. The venue we picked was The Oasis at Islamorada, Florida. It was absolutely stunning. We were very appreciative of the fact that we were able to do anything and everything we wanted without the typical restrictions enforced by other venues/hotels or ballroom themes. The Oasis was amazing for the four celebratory events we had.
We had an American wedding ceremony, a Sangeet ceremony, an Indian wedding ceremony, and a reception. We wanted to maintain the tropical vision for all four events and, of course, incorporate incredible food and champagne. The festivities were magnificent, and we certainly proved wrong to anyone who says they didn’t enjoy the food at their own wedding! Out of the four, our favorite event was definitely the reception, though all were stunning. As we reached the reception, we knew that the wedding and all events had been a success due to our hard work, and were able to enjoy the most amazing weekend of our entire lives.
We loved the tie between our Indian wedding ceremony and the Sangeet outfits, resulting in an absolutely gorgeous style of outfits and jewelry. My parents actually helped me to a great extent with the wedding shopping itself– they had the best insight into Indian outfits and fabrics through lots of middle-of-the-night Facetime calls to India.
As far as our honeymoon, we wanted to wait to travel until 2025, but we’re very excited and planning to go to New Zealand! We feel so blessed to have experienced the best weekend of our lives celebrating our marriage… in fact, we’re already planning to renew our vows in ten years.

ANU + SHIVAM | GEORGIA
From the moment we began planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it to be a reflection of our love for nature and our rich Indian heritage. Both of us have always been enchanted by the beauty of gardens, where some of our most cherished moments together took place. We wanted our wedding to embody the serene and magical atmosphere of a garden, infused with the elegance and grace of a pastel color palette reflecting the flora and fauna often seen in a summer garden. This vision led us to the perfect theme for our wedding: a pastel, enchanted-garden daytime ceremony that flowed into a beautifully lit, tree-filled evening reception. Our wedding ceremony was designed to feel intimate and to surround our guests with the natural beauty of a lush garden. We opted for a non-traditional, open mandap as a centerpiece for our ceremony decor. We envisioned it as an open sanctuary of love and blessings – two solid, Grecian cement pillars adorned with soft pastel cascading florals in shades of blush pink, peach, lavender, and intertwining greenery, and surrounded by tall oak trees which created a grounding, natural feel. The soft colors, chosen for their calming and elegant appeal, created a harmonious blend with the natural surroundings and late summer sun.
At the start of our aisle, we incorporated complementary cement fountains draped in pastel, summery florals. The fountains connected to our mandap with a flower-filled aisle lined with loose floral arrangements – we wanted the placement to feel whimsical as opposed to structured.
Seating for our guests was arranged in a semi-circle around the mandap, ensuring an intimate setting where everyone could witness our ceremony rituals. Walking down the aisle surrounded by our closest loved ones and seeing the beauty of the décor for the first time in completion was truly a magical feeling. Our décor was complemented by a fresh, floral antarpath and a low, carved-wood platform for our havan. We opted to have our ceremony on the lush, green grass as opposed to a stage, which further complemented the natural, garden vibe.
As the day progressed into the evening, lighting became a crucial element in enhancing the ambiance. We used soft, warm fairy lights strung across the venue, casting a gentle glow that complemented the natural daylight filtering through the trees. The combination of natural and artificial lighting created a dreamy and enchanting atmosphere, perfect for our subsequent cocktail hour. Our garden-themed reception was a seamless extension of our ceremony decor, with added touches of elegance and grandeur. We chose an indoor ballroom venue for the reception, with its grand domed ceiling and connecting glamorous cocktail area providing a stunning backdrop for the evening celebrations.
The focal points of our reception decor were multiple tall, lush trees, a beautiful mirrored mixed-metal art deco bar, and a stunning mirrored golden dance floor. We envisioned the reception as a glowing, whimsical, art-deco garden scene, with our guests dining under a canopy of greenery and surrounded by the warm glow of reflected glimmering soft light. The trees were strategically placed on risers, adding to their impressive height, around the in-ballroom bar and interspersed between our guest tables, their branches adorned with small, hanging fairy lights which created a breathtaking visual impact. We incorporated a sweetheart table, surrounded by floral arrangements, to complement the overall décor and add to the overall intimacy of the evening.
Round guest tables were set up around the “garden”, each adorned with centerpieces that reflected the garden theme. These centerpieces consisted of a mix of golden, floral pieces and floating pillar candles, adding to the ambiance.
Bringing our vision to life involved meticulous planning and collaboration with various vendors and artisans. The first step was conceptualization, where we combined our preferences and cultural elements to create a cohesive theme. We created mood boards and sketches to visualize the decor and ensure all elements aligned with our vision.
Once the concept was finalized, we began sourcing the materials and decor items. We worked closely with Myar Décor, our amazing décor team, to execute our vision. Detailed plans were made for floral arrangements, lighting setups, and furniture placements, with each element chosen to complement the garden theme and pastel color palette.
As we look back on our wedding day, our hearts are filled with immense gratitude towards our wedding decor team and all our vendors. Their dedication, creativity, and hard work brought our dream wedding to life, exceeding all our expectations. Each vendor played a crucial role in making our day magical and unforgettable.
We are incredibly thankful for the meticulous planning and flawless execution that went into every detail of our wedding décor and couldn’t have been happier with what Myar Décor created for us. Their professionalism and passion for their craft were evident in every element of our decor. We are truly blessed to have had such a talented and dedicated team working with us.
Our wedding day was everything we had dreamed of and more. The serene beauty of the pastel garden theme, the elegant decor, and the enchanting ambiance created a magical setting for our special day. We will forever cherish the memories of our wedding, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make it so perfect.

KRIPA + DHANESH | CALIFORNIA
Ihave always known that I would get married by the age of 25-26. Why? How? Where? With whom? Those questions I cannot answer for you. However, I can tell you that I was determined. If you were to ask any of my friends who they would think would get married first, their answer was always: “Kripa”. And indeed, I was the first one of my friends to get married at 26 years old.
I’m not sure how to begin our story except that it was meant to be. Dhanesh and I met in 2020, aka during COVID, and let’s just say our relationship was the best thing to come out during the time. From the moment Dhanesh and I met, it was clear that we just fit perfectly together, like he was a missing piece in my puzzle and vice versa. Our connection felt effortless and natural, as if the universe had conspired to bring us together. If you ask anybody, whether it’s friends or family, they’ll tell you the same thing: we are made for one another. It’s not just that we love each other deeply, but we truly understand each other. We get each other in a way that makes our bond unshakeable. Our quirks, which might seem odd to others, are perfectly matched. We embrace each other’s eccentricities and find joy in them.
For instance, we have this endearing habit of calling each other quirky nicknames like “potato” or “tubby.” It’s our own little language of love that makes us smile and feel closer to each other. These small, silly moments highlight how we appreciate and cherish the little things that make us unique. Our shared sense of humor and our ability to laugh together, even at the silliest things, strengthens our relationship every day.
One of the most magical moments in our story happened in Paris. Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of visiting the City of Love and the Eiffel Tower. Dhanesh made that dream come true in November 2022. Not only that, he went above and beyond to plan a beautiful proposal overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It was cute because the day of, we went were in the Uber on the way to go up the Eiffel Tower and then he told me he suddenly booked a reservation at a nice bar in a nice hotel and wouldn’t tell me any more information except for the fact that I needed to wear a dress and be ready to leave by 5pm. Of course, I knew what was going to happen (proposal), yet I was still nervous. The moment we got to the Peninsula Hotel in Paris and someone took us up the stairs to the rooftop where the proposal was set up, it felt like I was in a dream. A literal dream come true, not only going to Paris with someone I truly love and care about, but
also being proposed there. How can it get any better? My 12-year-old self to this day is still very ecstatic. A dream come true, a perfect moment that seemed like it was plucked straight out of a fairy tale. Dhanesh surely knows how to always make me happy.
Our journey continued to unfold beautifully, culminating in our traditional Indian wedding. It was a grand celebration with friends and family, filled with love and laughter. We were incredibly grateful for all our loved ones around us and all the help from our wonderful, caring family and friends. I had always dreamed of a fairytale wedding, and that’s exactly what I got. Walking through a beautiful floral arch at the beginning of the golden mirrored walkway, towards a gorgeous mandap, felt like stepping into a dream. The entire venue was breathtaking, adorned with beautiful florals and intricate decor. Our Maharaj was delightful by keeping our family, friends, and guests entertained by cracking jokes here and there, which added a light-hearted touch to the solemn rituals.
I opted for a non-traditional route and felt like a golden princess on my wedding day wearing a stunning ivory and gold Manish Malhotra lehenga. It looked absolutely gorgeous, perfectly complementing the venue and all the florals and decor. It was everything I had ever imagined and more as I have always wanted to wear a Manish Malhotra lehenga for my wedding.
For my reception, I wore a beautiful blue Gaurav Gupta lehenga and could not be any more happier with my choice. The signature Gaurav Gupta dupatta was attached to my off the shoulder blouse giving such a graceful princess look. It was so light and flowy and a show stopper. I was able to freely move and dance.
Our wedding and reception were a true celebration of our love and the start of our life together. Surrounded by the people who mean the most to us, we danced, laughed, and made memories that will last a lifetime. Nothing would have been possible if it weren’t for my amazing hair and makeup team (Denise for wedding and Drea for reception), my event planner Vanessa, our caterer Mantra, and to top it off, our florals and decor person - Helen with Better Choice Flowers. Looking back, I am filled with gratitude for every moment, knowing that our story is a beautiful blend of dreams fulfilled and love celebrated.

VRITTI + ANKIT | FLORIDA
Here’s our unlikely love story: I was a girl in Detroit and Ankit was a guy in Atlanta, both trying our luck on a dating app. Amidst a sea of faces, we stumbled upon each other. Weeks of texting and facetiming transformed us from strangers into potential soulmates, our connection seemingly defying the 720-mile distance. Ankit, a neuroradiologist who had recently moved to Atlanta after finishing his fellowship, and I, an advanced bronchoscopist who decided to stay in Detroit after my fellowship, were excited to meet in person.
After initially talking and facetiming for a few weeks, Ankit made plans to visit me in Detroit amidst the glacial 0-degree weather. However, the week before our planned date, he had to reschedule last minute because of “friends coming to town.” I had almost written him off as a flake, but he called me three days before saying his “friends had canceled” and he was available last minute. True to his word, Ankit did meet me in Detroit, which was the beginning of our magical journey.
Despite the miles between us, our connection grew stronger with each passing day. We found ways to make it work, visiting each other whenever possible and making every moment count. Each trip was filled with adventure, from exploring the vibrant streets of Atlanta to enjoying the rich cultural tapestry of Detroit.
Deciding to get married, we knew it would be a grand affair. Organizing a Hindu wedding, known for its grandeur and multiple ceremonies, was no small feat, especially from a long distance. We chose Orlando, Florida, for its magical venues and beautiful March weather, making it a perfect central location for our friends and loved ones to gather.
Blending Punjabi and Gujarati cultures, we combined rituals and customs that were dear to both of us. Our parents’ involvement was pivotal. They handled countless phone calls with vendors and provided invaluable guidance on traditional rituals. Their experience and insight ensured that every detail, from the intricate mehndi designs to the elaborate mandap decorations, was perfect.
The wedding festivities spanned several days, filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments. The Haldi ceremony was intimate and joyous, with everyone applying turmeric paste, symbolizing blessings and purification.
Unexpectedly, spontaneous bhangra dancing broke out amongst our families, filling the air with excitement and energy. For the Sangeet, I wanted to blend the traditional Punjabi customs of Jago with the Gujarati garba-raas, finishing with bhangra. It was a riot of colors and music, as family and friends performed choreographed dances, celebrating our union with exuberance.
Our wedding day was nothing short of magical. The vibrant colors and smoke-bombs at the baraat, along with color-smoke cannons at the wedding, created iconic moments for the entire wedding week. We worked closely with our decorator to create a unique floral mandap design and had customized matching outfits for the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and even cousins. The reception had an EDM vibe with LED light displays from our mandap, an LED screen, and a mentalist to give our guests a unique experience. The entertainment and element of surprise captivated our guests, setting our wedding apart from many other Indian weddings they had attended.
Even with the physical distance and logistical challenges, our wedding was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of family. Our parents’ unwavering support and the tireless efforts of our vendors made it possible for us to have the wedding of our dreams. It was a celebration not just of our love, but of the community that came together to support us.
As I look back on our journey, I am filled with gratitude for everyone who played a part in our story. From our initial match on a dating app to our magnificent wedding, every moment has been a testament to love’s ability to transcend boundaries. Our wedding was a beautiful culmination of our journey, a blend of tradition and modernity, and a celebration of the love and support that surrounded us.
Our story is a reminder that with love, determination, and the support of family and friends, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome. I am eternally grateful to our parents, whose vision and dedication made our dreams come true, and to our vendors, whose hard work and efforts ensured that every detail was perfect. Our wedding was more than just a ceremony; it was a celebration of love, unity, and the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.

PRIYA + TUSHAR |
FLORIDA
In the bustling streets of San Francisco, amidst the hum of urban life and the serendipitous meetings of modern romance, Priya Boyington and Tushar Gupta’s journey began. Like many couples today, their initial connection sparked through a dating app, a digital thread that wove its way into the fabric of their lives. It wasn’t until a chance encounter at a party later that their virtual connection turned into something tangible—a shared laugh, a meaningful conversation, and the start of something beautiful.
Their relationship blossomed over shared passions and dreams, culminating in a romantic engagement amidst the vineyards of Napa Valley. Dinner at the Michelin-starred Single Thread Farms set the stage for Tushar’s heartfelt proposal, marking the beginning of their journey towards marriage.
As Priya and Tushar embarked on planning their wedding, they sought a place that held deep sentimental value and was easy to travel to. Tampa, Florida, where Priya’s family roots ran deep, emerged as the perfect setting. It was here that her parents had exchanged vows almost four decades ago, and now, it would witness the union of their daughter and Tushar.
The wedding festivities were a vibrant tapestry of tradition and celebration, expertly woven together by planner Natalia Day of @daysrememberednd. Utopian Events transformed each venue with their exquisite décor, creating spaces that exuded elegance and charm.
The journey began with the Mehendi at Steinbrenner Field, the spring training home of the NY Mets, a nod to the couple’s time in New York and themed with baseball and Tushar’s love for cricket. Here, Priya’s hands and feet were adorned with intricate henna designs, symbolizing joy and the coming together of families.
The wedding ceremony took place at Waterworks Park, where a beautiful Mandap adorned with flowers awaited the couple and Priya wore a traditional Marathi red sari. Tushar made a unique and unforgettable entrance on a yacht with his parents, who had traveled from India to be part of this special occasion. The sight of the yacht
gliding gracefully along the Tampa River was a breathtaking moment, symbolizing the merging of cultures and families.
The Garba was held at the Tampa Convention Center, resonating deeply with family history. This very hall had witnessed the marriage of Priya’s aunt and uncle, making it a poignant setting for celebrating love, culture, and tradition. Dances were performed and amazing Marathi food by Moghul Caterers from New Jersey was had by all.
The reception at JW Marriott Tampa was a memorable affair, enlivened by a 20-piece band from Party on the Moon, ensuring that guests danced the night away to lively tunes and unforgettable melodies.
Priya’s designer outfits included Garba outfits for Priya and her sister, Nisha, were made by Priya Chhabria. Priya, Nisha and their mom all wore Falguni Shane for the reception.
Priya and Tushar’s wedding was more than a union of two individuals; it was a celebration of heritage, family bonds, and the enduring power of love. Their journey from a chance online encounter to a glamorous wedding in Tampa exemplifies the modern love story—where digital connections forge real-world relationships and tradition harmonizes with contemporary life.
As the festivities drew to a close, Priya and Tushar stood together, surrounded by loved ones and the shimmering lights of Tampa Bay. In that moment, they reflected on their journey—the serendipity of their meeting, the depth of their love, and the promise of a future filled with happiness and shared dreams.
Their wedding in Tampa was not just a celebration of their love, but a tribute to the paths they had traveled to find each other and the rich tapestry of their cultural heritage. All of this was captured by Gaciel Santana Photography and Iris Films. This wedding was a testament to the power of love to transcend boundaries and bring together families, friends, and communities in joyous harmony.

KRISHNA + PRASHAY | TEXAS
Krishna and Prashay, better known as “Krissy and Shay” met in 2015 in Austin, TX via a mutual friend. Their love sparked that night at Kona Bar and Grill and they quickly became best friends, spending nights and weekends around The Domain for bites and drinks. Shay was working for The Westin Hotel in his first management role and Krissy was studying to become a Nurse. Between their hectic schedules, the two would run off to Las Vegas, Miami, or road trip somewhere in Texas for fun. However, their true relationship didn’t begin until distance set them apart as they faced many trials together. Krissy left for Dallas to begin her Nursing career while Shay stayed in Austin moving up the career ladder. Growing apart, they nurtured each other at times but never knew if they’d rekindle a flame... After many years of highs and lows, coming and going, the two finally determined their fate was with each other. In their words, to love is to learn, and time decides who we meet in life but the heart decides who stays and for how long.
True Friends. Never Apart. Maybe In Distance. Never In Heart.
Their wedding planning began just as you would expect when two project managers tie the knotwith a punch list and a load of spreadsheets! Krissy and Shay dove headfirst into planning after getting engaged in December 2022 in Las Vegas. Juggling their demanding jobs - Krissy in the Medical Device industry and Shay in Hospitality Start-Ups - they crisscrossed the country for work, dedicating early mornings and late nights to researching vendors, building a website, Facetiming designers overseas, coordinating outfits for the bridal party, and fine-tuning every detail down to the guest color palettes.
Their journey took them to London, where they scoured the city for the perfect outfits, and then to Portugal for a brief respite before returning to the States. Back home, they indulged their foodie
instincts by sampling hole-in-the-wall eateries in search of their wedding menu delights before buckling down on strict diets and workout regimens. Shay affectionately calls Krissy “Fish,” a nod to their fish-heavy diet leading up to their final outfit fittings.
As they prioritized their health and wellness, Krissy introduced Shay to pilates while Shay motivated Krissy to take up running. They embraced clean eating and fresh foods, while supporting each other in their nightly routines and even started a habit of reading together with crisp library cards and a stack of new reads. Their DIY skills were put to the test as they crafted decor, gift bags, and more for their wedding, becoming experts with Cricut through trial and error.
After some pre-wedding fun in Cancun and Miami, they returned home to tackle the final tasks before their big day. In the blink of an eye, fifteen months of planning flew by, and it was time to celebrate with friends and family who had gathered to lend a hand before the wedding weekend commenced.
“In a tale of love that’s stood the test, Two souls entwined, now they’re blessed. Years apart, yet hearts remained true, Now they unite, saying “I do.”
Through trials faced, their bond grew strong, Together they danced, righting every wrong. Through distance and time, their love did soar, Now they embark on forevermore.
Hand in hand, they walk down the aisle, With joy in their hearts, and radiant smiles. Years of memories, laughter, and tears, Now they celebrate, banishing all fears.
Their love story, a testament of fate, Reunited at last, their souls elate. Years together, now they’ll never part, Two hearts united, forever in each other’s heart.”
