Established 20 years ago, it is one of the longest standing and most successful tourism consortia in the Capital and brings together the area’s attractions, cultural venues, hotels, transport providers, restaurants other relevant organisations with a commitment to promoting the South Bank as a destination. Members of this group include EDF Energy London Eye, Southbank Centre, BFI Southbank, BFI IMAX, The Old Vic, National Theatre, Young Vic, Coin Street Community Builders and Park Plaza Hotels. Day to day, our activities focus on promoting the South Bank offer through a variety of channels including www.southbanklondon.com, social media, PR, posters and publications. We also aim to make the visitor experience as welcoming as possible and run an award-winning on street visitor information service. We work closely with London & Partners, Visit Britain and other key partners, including neighbouring areas, to ensure that South Bank continues to develop as an appealing destination and maintains its profile within the capital. SBMG is a sub-group of South Bank Employers’ Group, an association of the major organisations in South Bank, Waterloo and Blackfriars dedicated to improving and promoting the neighbourhood for the benefit of local employees, residents and visitors. The Group is a non-profit company limited by guarantee, governed by a Board appointed by its members.
The Role
The Marketing Assistant assists the Marketing Team in developing and delivering strategic marketing campaigns which are designed to build awareness and engage key stakeholders and audiences with London’s South Bank. We are looking for an individual who is excited by South Bank and what is happening here, be that cultural events or large-scale regeneration projects. You will be an excellent communicator, find it easy to cultivate contacts, have an eye for detail and skilled at managing your time. This job is a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain a foothold in marketing communications. PERSON SPECIFICATION The marketing team sits at the heart of the organisation, responsible for running the South Bank Marketing Group as well as managing corporate communications for South Bank Employers’ Group. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Desirable Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Work experience in a marketing/ PR team or similar environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to write creatively for a range of publications and audiences. Ability to confidently develop positive and productive working relationships with South Bank Marketing Group and South Bank Venues members as well as third party agencies. High degree of organisational ability to manage time lines and meet deadlines, even under pressure. Excellent attention to detail.

KEY TASKS South Bank Marketing Group & South Bank Venues Play a key role in liaising with members and other internal and external partners, developing relationships at all levels. 1. www.southbanklondon.com Assist with the management of the destination website www.southbanklondon.com, which acts as a gateway to one of London’s hottest districts. Ensure the site is up to date at all times via our content management system; uploading new offers and competitions as and when required, adding events, news, images and compiling two monthly e-newsletters. The Assistant will respond to user enquiries and monitor statistics weekly. The Assistant will be responsible for daily updates to our popular social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, flickr and YouTube) and for monitoring social media statistics on a weekly basis. They will also play an important role in integrating new social media channels with our existing ones. 2. Posters Manage the production of bi-monthly What’s On posters, as well as seasonal specials, for display on poster structures throughout the area. The Assistant will need to work to a schedule to collate content direct from members, edit it, run the proofing process, liaise with our design agency and printers, and work with distributors to ensure posters are put up in a timely fashion. 3. Publications Help in the production and distribution of our literature such as the Summer Guide, maps and press collateral. Tasks include assisting with the development of creative concepts, collating content and images, drafting copy and helping with print and distribution arrangements. 4. PR Campaigns Assist the Press and Marketing Officer with the running of PR campaigns with London & Partners and VisitBritain press teams, developing relationships with key journalists and guide book editors. The Assistant will also be required to monitor, collate and distribute coverage. 5. Tourism Projects Provide support on tourism projects as required, for example, our InfoBike service, an award-winning innovative mobile tourist information initiative. 6. Meeting Administration Help to set up the regular meetings of the Groups. Responsible for taking and producing meeting minutes. Keep the Members’ Directories and contact lists up to date. Circulate information and invites to members. Assist with the planning of networking events, such as collating RSVP lists and making badges. 7. Ad-hoc Projects Support any additional projects and campaigns that arise as an outcome of the South Bank Marketing Group and South Bank Venues meetings. South Bank Employers’ Group Help us communicate better with stakeholders and the local community. 1. Corporate Website Assist in developing content for www.sbeg.co.uk, liaising with colleagues as appropriate. Tasks would include assisting in collating and editing copy, image manipulation and assisting in the production of regular e-news bulletins to stakeholders.

2. Corporate Events Help organise and promote corporate events such as breakfast briefings, meetings, parties and exhibitions. Typical tasks will include managing invitations and logistics as well as booking photographers/entertainment. General Duties 1. Picture Library Manage the picture library, ensuring it is up to date and clearly organised and that copyright agreements with photographers are adhered to. 2. Distribution/Storage Ensure all marketing publications are stored and distributed as required. 3. Administration This post is self servicing and requires that the Assistant is responsible for all of their own administrative duties, and will also participate in a range of duties on behalf of the team and organisation. 4. SALARY This position is offered subject to successful completion of a six-month probation period. This is a full time post at £17,000 plus 6% pension contribution. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Holiday allowance is 25 days per annum on a pro rata basis.
