SOUTH COAST SWIMMING CLUB www.southcoast.swimmingsa.org.au Unfortunately, the system has not been able to deliver a reliable and fully integrated solution to meet the needs of our members and the sport to a level which is acceptable. Some of the issues raised have been:

All Members please be aware, that SwimmingSA will NOT be continuing with the ONLINE Nominations. As a result, ALL SwimmingSA meet Nominations will need to be processed by the Club Nominations Officer. Please use the Club Nomination Form for this – AVAILABLE ONLINE @ THE CLUB WEBSITE. ALSO NOTE,the Nominations Closing dates for the SwimmingSA events will be approx. 10 days earlier than the closing date in the handbook AT THE CLUB. Keep an eye on the Website and White Notice Board, for closing dates. Please read the following transcript of an email (YOU SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED THIS): As you may be aware, SwimmingSA has been trialing the IMG online event registration system this summer.

A significant increase in the number of entry errors, causing swimmer to miss out on events Swimmer identification duplication meaning results maybe incorrectly attributed to a swimmer Incorrect “best time” use meaning swimmers maybe seeded incorrectly Split times unable to able to be used for entry or recorded on the national result database Members receiving data related to other members which creates privacy issues and database integrity Unable to retrieve the entry data once the event has closed System down times at the close of entries not allowing us to retrieve the data Clubs not being able to endorse event entries An unacceptable number of duplicate payment issues, which have seen our members out of pocket for periods of time, while waiting for the system owners to process a refund (sometimes in excess of $600). As a result of this until further notice, SwimmingSA will not be using the IMG – Clubsonline event registration system for SwimmingSA events.

South Coast Swimming Club Supporters:

The South Coast Swimming Club Committee is pleased to announce the purchase of a Laptop Computer & a „Swim Pro‟ Underwater Camera. These valuable Coaching Tools were purchased with the aid of Local & State Government Grants & will be valuable assets for our coaches. Brian is particularly excited by the prospect of enhancing his already excellent work with the Juniors of the Club, with particular uses such as ‘stroke correction’ & ‘head position’ whilst swimming. If you would like to help out our coaches by filming your OWN CHILD during a training session, this would allow the coach to continue with the ‘main group’ as well as focus on the swimmer being filmed.

This month, The Phantom has been informed that a local College is having its Annual Swimming Carnival @ Marion Outdoor Pool. Many of our South Coast Swimmers will be involved, as will some from Fleurieu Swim Club. No doubt OUR kids will give theirs a swimming ‘lesson’! Follow the Black Line!!!
