SoutheastMissouriStateUniversityhas welcomednumerouscommencement speakersovertheyearssuchasGov.Jay Nixon,Lt.Gen.ClydeVaughnandSen. RoyBlunt.Thisspring’scommencementspeakerisSoutheastalumnus GaryDowning. DowningearnedaBachelorof Sciencedegreewithamajorin marketingandaminorineconomicsin 1972. Downinghasbeenemployedby severalcompaniesovertheyears. Hehasbeenthevicepresidentof salesatGilletteOral-Bdivision,a partneringfounderandCEOof MedtechLabsLLCandtheCEOof LansinohLaboratories.Downingnow worksastheCEOofanover-the-counterpharmaceuticalcompanylocatedin Trevose,Pa.,calledInsightPharmaceuticalsLLC. Downingalwayshasbeenactivenot onlyinhisindustrybutinhiscommunityaswell.HeandhiswifeJennifer currentlyresideinFairfield,Conn.,ina historicareacalledGreenfieldHill. Becauseofitsrichandhistorical background,Downingandhiswifeare engagedinpreservingtheircommunity.Theyalsoarethesponsorsofthe GaryandJenniferDowningScholarshipFundatSoutheast.Thisscholarship isawardedtoanoutstandingstudent withhighacademicachievementand involvementintheHarrisonCollegeof Business. “Itisasincerepleasureformeto returntoSoutheastandhavethe opportunitytohonorandaddressthe graduatingclassof2013,”Downing saidinanemail.“Thisisaveryexciting timeforthemastheybeginthelifelong

ButwhileColeBieseristhesonofinterim baseballcoachSteveBieser,Blumalsoisthe coach’sfirstcousin. “Jason’smyfirstcousin,”SteveBiesersaid. “It’skindofaweirddeal.Thosetwoguys,I’ve basicallycoachedalltheircareers,andthey’re bothversatile,they’retwoguysI’mvery comfortablewithbecauseIknowwhatthey candoonthefield.” SteveBieserplayedbaseballatSoutheastas acatcherandanoutfielderbeforebeingdraftedbythePhiladelphiaPhilliesinthe32nd roundofthe1989MLBDraft.In1997,he madehisdebutonthefieldwiththeNewYork Metsandplayed47gamesasautilityplayer. HemadehislastMLBappearancein1998 withthePittsburghPiratesandplayedin13 gameswiththeteam. NowheistheinterimcoachfortheRedhawksforthe2012-13season.
TheBiesersspendplentyoftimewitheach otheroffthefield. “Itseemslikeit’salwaysbaseball,”Steve Biesersaid.“Iliketofishandusedtohunta littlebit,butbaseballhaskindofconsumed ourlives.Ratherthanfishing,wewouldgoout andhitanextrabucketofballs.Webothenjoy hangingaroundanddoingthoselittlethings asafamily.I’vegotawifeandthreegirlsas well,sowejustliketodoalotoffamilystuff together.” SteveBieseralsosaidthatheandhisson lovethegameandliketotalkaboutstrategies. “It’sprobablyoneofthebiggesttopicsat thedinnertable,andthat’ssomethingthat mywifegetstiredofhearing,isthat‘Canwe talkaboutsomethingotherthanbaseball?’,” SteveBiesersaidwhilelaughing.“It’sjust somethingthatwe’rebothpassionateabout. Sometimesitresultsinanargument,and sometimesit’sjustaneducationsession.” ColeBiesersaidthattheyarebothfootball fansandliketogofishingandthattheytalk aboutMLB,notjusttheirownteam. “Baseballhasalwaysbeensomethingthat hasbroughtustogether,”ColeBiesersaid. “Wetalkaboutitalot,butwedohaveother interestsoutsideofbaseball.” ColeBieserrecentlyinjuredhisleftwriston adivingplayApril16againstArkansasState, andanMRIrevealedtornligamentsthatwill resultinhimmissingtherestoftheseason. “Whenitactuallyhappened,itlooked prettybad,”SteveBiesersaid.“Oncewesaw thedoctorsandgotsomeimmediatefeedback,itwastorn.Wefiguredthebestthingto dowastogetthesurgeryrightaway.”
ColeBieserbatted.306andwasfirstinthe OhioValleyConferencewith15steals. “It’shardtohavetowatchthegame,especiallywhenI’vehadsuccessthisseason,”Cole Biesersaid.“Atthesametime,Igettowatch mybestfriendsplayitnow,andIcanstep backforacouplemonthshereandcomeback readytogointhefall.”

Thefirstnon-MLBsportingeventtobe heldinthestadiumwillbeamatchbetween twoEnglishPremierLeaguesoccerteams. ChelseaandManchesterCitywillplaythere onMay23. GuitarprofessorPatrickRaffertyhasplayedmanyfreeconcertsduringhiscareer,buthasyettoplayoneatSoutheast MissouriStateUniversity. “I’vebeenwantingtodofreeconcertsforalongtimeat theRiverCampus,”Raffertysaid.“Unfortunately,it’snot somethingthathappensallofthetime.” Raffertysaidhismothermadehimbeginplayingthe pianoatanearlyage,andhestartedplayingtheguitarin fourthgrade. Raffertycreditstheideaforhisfreeconcerttohistimein graduateschoolatthePeabodyInstituteatJohnHopkins UniversityinBaltimoreandthefactthathewaslatetoregistertheevent. “Alloftheconcertsthattheywouldputonwerefree,” Raffertysaid.“Thepublicwoulddefinitelytakeadvantage ofit.Youwouldseealotofthegeneralpubliccomingto theseconcerts,andIkindofalwaysfeltlikethat’sthewayit shouldbeataschooltoapoint.Itshouldbesomethingthe publicshouldbeabletohaveandexperienceforfree.” Raffertysaidthisconcertwillbeamorecasualexperience fortheaudienceratherthanthetypicalformalityofmost concertsthatareperformedattheRiverCampus.However, Raffertyexplainedthathewillstillconducttheconcertin aprofessionalmanner.HealsosaidthathehasafewartisticandcreativeideasthatheplanstoincludeintheconcertthatthetypicalRiverCampusconcertattendeewillnot experience. Raffertyisusingthisconcertasawarm-upforaninternationalguitarcompetitionthathewillcompeteatinJune. “It’stheGuitarFoundationofAmerica,”Raffertysaid. “Theyhaveanannualcompetition.Thisyearit’staking placeinLouisville,whichmakesitalittlebitmoreaccessiblethanithasbeeninpastyears.” ThecompetitionwillbeRafferty’sfirstinternationalcompetition,andhewillperformavarietyofsongs,including FernandoSor’s“VillageFantasy”andRadamesGnattali’s “SambaEtudes,”whichhealsowillperformathisconcert attheRiverCampus. WhileRaffertyisexcitedaboutcompetingintheinternationalcompetition,hewantsthefreeconcerttobeatreat forthestudents. “It’skindofagifttoallofthestudentsforcompletingtheir springsemester,”Raffertysaid. AnativeofPevely,Mo.,Soutieabeganhis racingcareerbyrunningintheFreedomof Speech5KinCapeGirardeau.HegraduatedfromSoutheastin2007withamarketing managementdegreeandendedupinBoston. Herunsabout80milesaweekandhas spentmorethaneightyearscompetingin triathlons.Soutieastartedthemorningof April15justlikehehadthepasttwoyears. Soutieatraveledonabussome26miles outsideofthecityearlythatmorningtocompeteintheBostonMarathon.Hewasinthe
firstwaveandthirdcorral,whichisasectionedareawhererunnersaregroupedtogether accordingtotheirexpectedfinishtime. “Ijustrelaxedandwaitedfortheraceto start,”Soutieasaid. Soutieapacedhimselfduringtheraceashe ranintothewindthewholetime.Theraceis notoriousforitshills,buthewasprettyfamiliarwiththecoursesincehehadtrainedonit before. Soutieafinishedthe26.2mileracein2 hours,54minutes,24secondswithanaveragetimeof6:39permile. “Thesecondhalfoftheracewasfasterthan thefirsthalf,”Soutieasaid. Whenhenearedthefinishlinehesaid everyoneinthecrowdwascheeringand yellingtherunners’namesandthathealmost felloveronceheactuallycrossedthefinish line. Butafterbeingaparticipantinthe marathonforthepasttwoyears,Soutiea knewthatfireworkswerenotpartofthe event. “Iknewitwasabomb,”Soutieasaid. Soutieaandhisfriendslookedaround inconfusion.TheycheckedTwittertoseeif anythinghadbeentweetedaboutwhatthey justheard.Hethenjumpeduponabarricade tolookdownthestreet. Boom. TheideatointegrateiPadsasalearning tooloccurredtoMaryTalbut,instructional designeratSoutheast,whenshewenttoa conferenceinFebruary.Oneofthepresentationssheattendedshowedherhowanother universityconductedaprogramtoencourage theuseoftechnologyintheclassroom. “Iamastrongproponentoffacultydevelopment,especiallywhenthereisanewtool involved,”Talbutsaid.“Youcan’tjustgive someonesomethingaspowerfulasaniPad andthinkthattheywillknowalltheycando withitwithoutsomeinteractionandinstructionfromothers,whetheritisateacherora student.” Inordertoparticipateintheacademy,fulltimeSoutheastfacultymembersmustsubmitamemoof500wordsorlessthatanswers severalquestions.Someofthequestions includewhythestaffmemberiswillingto putasidetimefortheacademy,whetheror nottheyhaveanyexperiencewithusingnew technologyinteachingorresearchandhow theyplantousetheiPadtoassistinresearch orserviceactivitiesandincreaseproductivity. Bauer’sroleasMissJacksonistobeanambassadorfor thecommunity.ShehasbeenaspokespersonfortheSpecial Olympics,theAmericanHeartAssociationandtheAmerican CancerSociety. BaueralsoisanambassadorforChildren’sMiracleNetworkhospitalsandisamentorwithBigBrothersBigSisters. Shealsospeaksatseveralareaschoolsaboutleadershipand volunteerism. BauersaidthatasMissJacksonshefeelssheisalready doingpartofwhatitmeanstobeMissMissouriwithhertours andservices.ButsheknowsbeingMissMissouriwillimpact charitiesevenmore. “JustthispastweekendIhostedafundraisermyself called‘Rockin’ForMiracles,’andalltheproceedsbenefitted Children’sMiracleNetworkhospitals,”Bauersaid.“Itraised over$10,000.IthoughtifIcoulddothisasMissJackson,ohmy goodness,whatIcoulddoforMissMissouri.”

Missouri Mission of Mercy to provide free dental clinic in Show Me Center J.C. REEVES STAFF WRITER
TheMissouriMissionofMercy iscomingtotheShowMeCenteronSoutheastMissouriState University’scampusonMay3and4 toprovidefreedentalcaretothousandsofpatientswhomaynotnormallybeabletoafforddentalcare. MissionofMercyhashosteddentalclinicsallacrosstheUnitedStatesfor13years.SincethefirstMissionofMercyclinicin2000,more than200,000patientshavereceivedmorethan$50millionworthof dentalcarefreeofcharge. “[MissionofMercy]cameas aresultofthefactthatweknow thattherearepatientsthat,forone
reasonoranother,haveproblems withaccesstocare,”saidDr.Janet Ruopp,ownerofRuopp&Ruopp DentistryinCapeGirardeauand chairpersonofthisyear’sMissouri MissionofMercy. ThestopattheShowMeCenterwillbeonlythesecondtime theMissionofMercyhascometo Missouri. ThefirstMissionofMercyclinic tocometoMissouriwasinSpringfield,Mo.,in2011.Itattracted1,856 patientswhowereprovidedwith morethan$1.1millionoffreedentalcareby1,046dentalandgeneral volunteers. Thisyear’sMissionofMercyclinicwillstartat5a.m.andlast until5p.m.bothdaysoftheevent.
Thedentalworkerswillprovide cleanings,fillingsandextractions forpatients. Theprofessionalsattheclinic willnotbeabletoprovideservicessuchasinstallingcrownsand bridges,performingrootcanals, providingfulldenturesanddenturerepair,wisdomteethextraction,teethwhiteningorcosmetic dentistry. Ruoppisexpectingtohaveabig turnoutatthisyear’sclinic. “Weareanticipatingthatwewill probablysee2,000to2,200patients inourtwo-dayclinic,”Ruoppsaid. “Andprobablydo$1.5millionof freedentalwork.” RuoppalsosaidthattheorganizationneedsmanySoutheast
MissouriStateUniversitystudents tovolunteertohelpwiththeclinic, alongwith200dentists,100assistantsand100hygienists. “Therearetonsofplacesthatstudentscanvolunteer,”Ruoppsaid. “Andwewillteachthemtheirjobs. Theydon’tneedtocomewithspecificskills.” Therearegoingtobestudent volunteerjobsavailablefortranslationforpatientswhodonotspeak English,setupandtakedown,hospitality,escortstoguidethepatients aroundtheShowMeCenterand providepersonalhygienebagsto patientsastheyexitthearena. “Obviously,Ithinkthey’rehoping toservepeoplewhocan’tafforditor don’thavedentalinsurance,”said
MicheleIrby,directorofCampus LifeandEventServices.“Butreally,theywouldn’tturnanyoneaway fromdentalcare.” Theclinicisgoingtoworkona first-come,first-servebasis.People willbeallowedintotheclinicuntilit reachescapacity. “Ilovehelpingpeople,”Southeast studentvolunteerSarahStoverinksaid.“Ilikeseeingthetransformationwhenpeoplegettheir teethclean,andhowhappytheyare whentheygetdentalworkdone.” Studentswhoareinterestedin volunteeringcanvisittheMissouri MissionofMercypageonmodental.orgtoregisterfortheclinic. “It’shardwork,”Ruoppsaid.“But it’ssorewarding.”

Meet the new Arrow staff for the 2013 - 2014 academic year ThisyeartheArrowstaffhasgonethroughmany differentchanges.Therehavebeenmultiplebreakingnewsstoriesandeveneditorchangesthroughoutthecourseoftheyear,butwehavecontinued togrow.OnApril24thefinalmemberswereadded tothe2013-2014Arrowstaff.Inadditiontothe editorslistedbelowSteveAmrheinwaschosenas advertisingmanagerandTommyCrossenasmarketingmanager. Thisweek’squestionis“Whatdidyoulearn fromtheArrowthispastyearandwhatareyou
mostlookingforwardtofornextyear,?”whichall thefuturestaffmembersansweredbelow. Asforme,thisyearhasbeenahugelearning opportunityforme.Icameintotheonlineeditor positionwithnoexperienceotherthanwhatIgainedasanArrowreporter,andIcontinuedtogrow fromthere.Imadesomegreatfriendsandlearned manyvaluablemanagementandjournalismskills overthepastyear. I’mfairlyfamiliarwiththe Arrowoficeandhowthings aredone.Byworkingonthe ArrowstaffI’vegainedreallifeexperienceandlearned theresponsibilityofschedulingandmeetingdeadlines.NextyearI’mlooking forwardtoreallyconnectingwiththestudents,facultyandstaffhereatSoutheastandproducingaquality papereveryweek.Icannot waittogetstarted!
Thisyearwasmyirstyear workingfortheArrow.Iwas alittlenervousatirstsince thiswouldbetheirsttimeI wouldputmywritingskills tothetestoutsideofthe classroom. WorkingfortheArrow taughtmethatIcoulddo this,Icanbeawriter.The staffhelpedmeimprovemy writingskillsandexpandmy horizonsbywritingalldifferenttypesofstories. Gettingcomplimentsand feedbacknotonlyhelped meimprovebutboosted myconidenceinthecareer pathIhavechosen. Ididn’tthinkthatafterjust ayearofworkingforthe Arrow,Iwouldhavethe honorofbecomingsports editor,andI’mextremely excitedtobeginworkfor myposition.Ican’twaitto coversportingeventsandto workwiththeothermembersofthestafftoimprove thepaper.It’sgoingtobean amazingexperience,andI can’twait.
WhenIsteppedintomyirst Arrowmeetingatthebeginningofthissemester,Ihad noideathatIwouldhave becomethedesigneditor fourshortmonthslater. TheArrowgavemethe opportunitytostepoutofmy comfortzoneandapplyfor aneditorpositionwithout evenstartingoutasastaff member. Withapassionfordesign,I appliedforthedesigneditor positionwithmanydoubts, assumingthatmyskills wouldnotbesuficientfor thejob.Today,IamsothankfulItooktheriskandapplied becauseIcannowcallmyself anArroweditor. Myexperiencewiththe Arrowhastaughtmetofollowmypassion,trymybest andreachmygoals,even iftheyfeelunrealistic.I’m extremelyexcitedtostart designingtheArrownext yearandIhavealreadyhad ablastassociatingwiththe Arrowteamfortheshort amountoftimeIhavebeen involved.

Sincemyirstvisittothe ArrowinSeptember,Ihave learnedsomuchaboutjournalism,talkingtopeople andmyself.It’sbeenagreat opportunityformetocreativelyexpressmyself,while informingotherpeopleof importantinformation.I didn’texactlyexpecttoeven beintherunningforaneditorpositionatthebeginning ofthesemester.Beingthe artsandentertainmenteditorissuchanexcitingthing forme. Ihaveanincrediblepassionformusicandjustbeing entertained.Iammostlookingforwardtobroadeningmyjournalisticabilities bylearninghowtoeditstories,usedifferentprograms andbesomeonethatwriters cometoforadvice.

IthenbecameaphotographerfortheArrowand foundmynewpassion. WhatIlearnedfromworking withtheArrowisthatphotojournalismiswhatIwantto dowithmylife,photography ismyownpersonalsport withnooffseason. Iammostlookingforward tohavingfunexperiences intheArrowoficewithmy teammates.Also,Iamlookingforwardtohavingafree mediapasswithazoomedinfrontrowseattoallthe awesomeeventsthatSoutheasthaslinedupthisyear.

Becausethispositionis new,Iamveryexcitedto shapeit,helptheArrow growevenmoreandbepart oftheteamthatwillleavea legacyatthisnewspaper.

Inordertoadjusttoanewsetofcircumstances,StudentGovernmentAssociationatSoutheastMissouriStateUniversityrecentlyimplementedorconsidered changesforIslandOasis,Rowdy’sSubs andSubway’soutdoordiningcapacity. IslandOasiswasconvertedtoaDippin’DotsinApril. AccordingtoBradleyBeran,theUniversityAffairschairforSGA,theneed toreplaceIslandOasisarosebecause thevendorswereunabletoacquirethe ingredientsnecessaryforitsgoods. “IslandOasisisgoingawaydueto thedifficultyofobtainingthesmoothie mixes,”Beransaid.“Theyhavegotten downtothepointwheretheycanonly getafewoftheleastrequestedflavors.” ByBeran’saccount,thedecidingfactorinthereplacementofIslandOasis wasthearrivalofspecialequipment thatwasnecessaryforDippin’Dotsice cream. “Theywerejustkindofwaitingona freezer,”Beransaid.“TheyrequirespecialfreezersfortheDippin’Dots,and Dippin’Dots,thecompany,actuallyprovidesthosefreezersforthe university.” AccordingtoBeran,thenewDippin’ DotsandanyfuturechangetoRowdy’s SubswillbefundedbyChartwells
DiningServices,andthesechangeswill notaffectthepricesoftherestofthe foodatRowdy’s. LikeIslandOasis,Rowdy’shasbeen consideredforalterationsbySoutheast’s DiningServicesAdvisoryCommittee. However,thedecisiontoalterthe eateryisnotfinal. Beranexplainedthatthereisaneed toreplaceRowdy’sSubsandwhatsort ofreplacementhasbeenconsideredby SGA.

There’snothingsetinstonejustyet,but oneofthethingstheymentionedwas maybeaddingaBurrito-Ville-likeconcept.Andthatwouldincludemaybe Mexicanburritosorstuffsimilartowhat youmightfindatBurrito-Ville.” InadditiontoaffectingRowdy’s Subs,theacquisitionofaSubwayasa partofthediningoptionsatSoutheast hasgivenrisetoaneedforanoutdoor
diningcapacityforthevenue. “StudentGovernmentislookingto revampthatareaoverthere,andjust takeadvantageofsomeofthatleftoverspacefromwhenthechildren’s,I guess,daycarewastakenoutthere,” Beransaid.“Whatwe’rekindoflooking todowiththatisaddsomebenchesand tablessimilartowhatyouwouldsee outsideoftheStarbucksarea,theuniversitystandardbench,whichislikethe blackbenchwiththerubber...coating onit.And,thetablesaresimilarwiththe umbrellaoverthetopofthem.” Beransaidthatthebudgetforthe pendingSubwayprojecthasyettobe approved. Inregardtothespecificchangestobe madebeforetheoutdoorseatingwillbe added,Beransaidthat“themaingoalis topulloutallthesandthat’sthere.” Headdedthatnothingwasfinalized, butSGAwantsto“cleanthearea”and changethefencing. UnlikeDippin’DotsorRowdy’s,the alterationstoSubwaywouldnotbefundedbyChartwells,Beransaid. Beransaidthatthefundingwould comefromtheSGA“carryforward account,”whichisforwardedrevenue frompreviousterms. AccordingtoBeran,therearestill challengestoinitiatingthechangesto Subway. “Thereareobstacles,”Beransaid. “Youhavetousecertaincontractors.... Theuniversityhasaspecificstandard ofwhattheyallowyoutohaveontheir campus.”

Nomatterwhereyou’respendingyoursummer—at home,inCapeoranywhereelseforwhateverreason— makesureyoutaketimetorelaxandenjoyyourself.Go forajoginthelateevening,grabsomethingtodrink outsideattwilightandwatchallthemoviesandreadall thebooksyoudidn’thavetimeforduringtheschoolyear. Wewon’tbefull-timestudentsforever,sooursummer breaksarewoefullyinite.Setsometimeasidetoshirk responsibility,havesomefunandenjoybeingayoung adult.Goonarandomroadtrip,driveanunreasonabledistancetoaconcertandspendanentiredaydoing absolutelynothing.Absolutely.Nothing.You’llloveit. ThissummerIgettogotoEnglandandanisland offofSpaininthemiddleofJuly.Myroommatesare fromEngland,soIgetthechancetostaywithone ofthemandexperiencetheculture.Needlesstosay, I’mextremelyexcited.ShealsoistakingmetoIbiza, whichisanislandwhereatonofDJsplayoverthe summer.Julyisgoingtobethebestmonthever. Somyadvicetoallofyouistotravel.Getinthecar andtakeaminiroadtripwithsomefamilyorfriends. DrivingtoplacesliketheLakeoftheOzarksorChicago isashortdrivefromSt.Louisandsplittinggaswouldn’t costthatmuch.Takinganextendedweekendtripto somewherenewwillnotonlyallowyoutoexposeyourselftoanewplaceandnewpeople,butyouwillcreate memoriesthatwilllastalifetime.Youcanevengetcrafty andmakeascrapbookofalltheadventuresyouhad. LastsummerIdidjustthat.Itookaroadtripwith somefamilyandfriendsdowntoNewOrleanstomeet upwithafriendwholivesinMississippi.Wespentthe fourdaysgoingtothebeachandexploringdowntown NewOrleans.Imademyfriendstryalligatorandmade themwatchthestreetperformers.Onourwayhome, whichwasalovely10-hourdrive,wediscussedhow itwasthehighlightofoursummeranditdidn’teven costusthatmuchmoneybetweentheiveofus. Ifyoudon’twanttotakearoadtrip,goandvisitfamilywholiveoutoftownthatyounevergettosee.Ihave atonoffamilyallacrossthestatesandIknowthatifI askedtostaywiththemforacoupledays,theywould welcomemewithopenarms.Notonlywillyoubeable tovisitwithyourlovedonesbuttheycantakeyou aroundthecityandtothebestplacesforthelocals. Whateverthecasemaybe,goandtravel.Expand yourhorizonsandstepoutofyourcomfortzone. IknowwhenIgotoEnglandandtheystartdrivingonthewrongsideoftheroad,I’mgoingtohold onfordearlifeuntilIgetusedtoit.Butitisgoing tobeoneofthebestexperiencesofmylife. Haveagreatsummermyfriends,and takemyadvice:Beadventurous.
Tome,makingthemostoutofyoursummerinvolvestwo things:accomplishingwhateverpersonalgoalsyoumay haveanddoingthingsthatmakeyouhappy.Ascollegestudentswegenerallyhavemorefreetimeinthesummer— unlessyou’reoneofthosestudentswhoworksafull-time jobforthesummer.Workingisdeinitelyagoodoptionif yourgoalistosaveupmoney.Thedrawbackthereisthat itdoesnotallowforasmuchlexibilitytodofunthings, suchastakingafamilyvacation,volunteeringatasummercampandspendingtimewithfriendsandfamily. Someofmybesttimesoverthesummerhavebeen doingexactlythoselasttwothings:familyvacations andvolunteeringatasummercamp.Whenmyolder brothergraduatedcollegein2010,heandIwentto Europefortwoweeksaftersavingupasmuchaswe couldandgettingsomehelpfromourfamily.Wewent tostaywithafriendofoursfromhighschoolwhowas studyingabroadinLondon.Londonwasanamazingexperience,andwecrammedasmuchaswecould into48hours.Wesawallofthemajorsitesandhad legitimateEnglishpubfood.Iwasveryexcitedtotry Englishishandchips,butIdidn’treallylikethem.
