INCLUDING #HARTWELLS CAME TO A PRE BID MEETING AT THE END OF THE FALL SEMESTER #HARTWELLS WAS THE ONLY FIRM TO MAKE A BID AFTER MEETINGS ENDED IN MID *ANUARY 3KINNER SAID THERE WAS A COMMITTEE OF PEOPLE WHO HELPED DECIDE ON THE BID
INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE 3TUDENT 'OVERNMENT !SSOCIATION 2ESIDENCE (ALL !SSOCIATION FACULTY STAFF AND 2IVER #AMPUS REPRESENTATIVES AND THAT ALL MEMBERS THOUGHT THE #HARTWELLS BID MET OR EXCEEDED EVERY ASPECT OF THE UNIVERSITY S DINING CONTRACT PROPOSAL h7E REQUIRED AS PART OF THE BID THAT YOU HAD TO KEEP #HICK &IL ! BUT STUDENTS ARE NOW ABLE TO PAY AN EXTRA CHARGE DEPENDING ON THEIR MEAL PLAN TO USE MULTIPLE MEALS AT ANY GIVEN TIME CREATING THE hPREFERREDv OPTION COMPARED TO THE hCLASSIC v )N BOTH OPTIONS IF NOT ALL MEALS ARE USED AT THE END OF THE WEEK THE REMAINING MEALS WILL DISAPPEAR h3TUDENTS THAT WANT IT CAN BUY THAT FLEXIBILITY STUDENTS THAT DON T WANT IT THEN AREN T PAYING TO SUBSIDIZE THE OTHER STUDENTS THAT WANT THAT FLEXIBILITY v 3KINNER SAID !LONG WITH UPDATED DINING OPTIONS
#HARTWELLS PROPOSED TO KEEP THIS YEAR S DINING RATES THE SAME AND IN THE NEXT TWO YEAR S RATE INCREASES CANNOT GO UP MORE THAN PERCENT PER YEAR NO MATTER THE CHANGE IN THE ECONOMY OR FOOD COSTS 4HERE WILL ALSO BE ADDITIONAL FEATURES ADDED TO THE DINING EXPERIENCE SUCH AS
INCORPORATING A RICE DISH IN EVERY MEAL #HARTWELLS IS ALSO GOING TO PARTNER WITH HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT STUDENTS TO OFFER INTERNSHIPS WITH A FOCUS ON INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND MILITARY VETERANS BECAUSE THOSE GROUPS OF INDIVIDUALS HAVE SEEN SUCCESS IN THESE PROGRAMS ON OTHER CAMPUSES 3KINNER ALSO MENTIONED THAT #HARTWELLS PROPOSED A FOOD TRUCK CONCEPT AS WELL IN THEIR BID THAT WOULD MOVE AROUND CAMPUS DURING PEAK DINING TIMES OR FOR ATHLETIC EVENTS h) WAS PLEASED TO SEE THIS BECAUSE IT SHOWED ME THAT THEY WEREN T JUST LOOKING AT WHAT 3OUTHEAST WAS USED TO THEY WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING AT @/+ WHAT WOULD BE DIFFERENT FOR THE CAMPUS v 3KINNER SAID 3KINNER SAID THE CONTRACT WITH #HARTWELLS WILL BENEFIT 3OUTHEAST IN THE LONG RUN h4HIS CONTRACT ALLOWS US TO PUT MILLION BACK INTO THE FACILITIES AND MAKE THAT AS PART OF OUR MEAL PROGRAM OVER A DECADE v 3KINNER SAID hx )T S A WAY TO ACCOMPLISH FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS WITHOUT TAKING OUT LOANS x 7ORKING WITH #HARTWELLS WE RE ABLE TO SPREAD THAT COST OVER A DECADE AND STILL UPDATE OUR FACILITIES v

AT 3OUTHEAST IT WOULD BE IMPORTANT TO HAVE A MEMBER WHO LIVES IN #APE 'IRARDEAU AS BOARD PRESIDENT h4HE DISCUSSION REALLY CENTERED MOSTLY AROUND THE FACT THAT WITH A NEW PRESIDENT COMING IN WITHOUT ANY KIND OF RELATIONSHIPS
WITHOUT ANY KIND OF CONNECTIVITY THAT IT WAS PROBABLY STRATEGIC TO SELECT AND ELECT A BOARD REGENT THAT WAS FROM #APE 'IRARDEAU v +NUDT SON SAID +ENDRA .EELY -ARTIN THE 3T ,OUIS RESIDENT WHO WAS ALREADY VICE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

0ARKER "UTLER IS NO STRANGER TO WHAT IT MEANS to be busy, but he wouldn’t have it any other WAY "UTLER IS A JUNIOR AT 3OUTHEAST -ISSOURI 3TATE 5NIVERSITY MAJORING IN ADVERTISING BUT THAT S JUST THE BEGINNING /UTSIDE OF ANY OBLIGATORY SCHOOLWORK "UTLER IS AN ACTIVE SENATOR IN THE 3TUDENT 'OVERNMENT !SSOCIATION THE )NTERFRATERNITY #OUNCIL PRESIDENT AND A STUDENT WORKER IN THE /FFICE OF THE 0RESIDENT (E WAS ALSO MOST RECENTLY A PART OF THE 0RESIDENTIAL 3EARCH #OMMITTEE AS A STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ALONG WITH *USTIN 2OBINSON (E S GAINED EXPERIENCE ONLY POSSIBLE FROM DOING THE JOB HANDS ON DUE TO HIS DILIGENT INVOLVEMENT WITH CAMPUS AFFAIRS

One of your newest roles is acting IFC President. What’s your experience been like there? What do you do on a day-to-day basis? /N A DAY TO DAY BASIS ) INTERACT WITH CHAPTER PRESIDENTS ) INTERACT WITH ADMINISTRATION ) INTERACT WITH THE /FFICE OF 'REEK ,IFE -ORE OR LESS ) M CONSTANTLY TRYING TO OFFER DIRECTION TO THE FRATERNITY SYSTEM TO TRY TO KEEP US ON TASK AND TO KEEP US GOING IN THE DIRECTION WE NEED TO BE GOING IN

the Presidential Search Committee. How was that experience? 7E ALL KIND OF PLAYED THE SAME ROLE AND ) THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT WAS SO COOL %VEN THOUGH *USTIN ;2OBINSON= AND ) THE TWO STUDENTS THAT WERE ON THERE EVEN THOUGH WE WERE THERE AS STUDENTS OUR OPINION WAS VERY much still valued. We had the same access to all the candidate materials, with resumes and ALL OF THAT AND THAT WAS SUPER COOL TO BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY SEE ALL CANDIDATES ALL OF THEIR RESUMES ALL THEIR PAST EXPERIENCES AND ACTUALLY HAVING OUR OPINIONS VALUED THERE ON THE COMMITTEE ALONG WITH PROFESSORS AND REGENTS AND OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF 4HAT WAS REALLY cool.
How do all these positions call you to leadership? 4HE BIGGEST THING ABOUT LEADERSHIP ) THINK IS ACTIVELY ENGAGING THE PEOPLE THAT YOU LEAD )T S SO IMPORTANT AS LEADER TO BE ABLE TO EMPOWER AND ENGAGE THOSE INDIVIDUALLY THAT S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING "ECAUSE IF ) M A GOOD PRESIDENT IT DOESN T REALLY MATTER IF ) M NOT SETTING UP THE OTHER OFFICERS ON MY BOARD TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Does each role ask a different aspect of leadership? !BSOLUTELY ) THINK BEING )&# 0RESIDENT THERE ) M SEEN AS THE ULTIMATE LEADER ) M SUPPOSED TO BE THE PACE SETTER FOR MY OTHER OFFICERS
